- Buc-ee's isn't just a gas station, it's a movement, a phenomenon... an empire.
The history of this beaver is as interesting and unique as the stores themselves.
Come along on a journey and see for yourself in this mini documentary on the world's largest convenience store.

Imagine hating on and protesting a gas station that adds to your community and not saying anything about Wal Mart or any of the other monopolies that destroy communities.
Exactly. Don't forget Dollar General. A blight on the landscape with 17 thousand stores, and half are poorly run dumps.
I’m not defending anyone because I don’t live there. But from what I understood is they were more worried the gas station would divert more traffic into their “quiet town”. Not so much what the place would do from an economics standpoint.
@@indygamertag829 I lived 30 minutes away from the bucees in Denton and I can say that area is not quiet. There’s restaurants and hotels next to it and on the other side of 35.
You think Bucee’s is really all that much better than Wal Mart? The only difference is scale. Bucee’s is smaller, but that doesn’t mean they’re good or they wouldn’t destroy communities for profit if given the chance
Many communities have protested against Wal-Marts coming to their town/cities. I have nothing against companies expanding but I am against million/billion dollar companies that have #CEOs making millions/billions while their employees are making near minimum wage. This in and of itself pisses me off. Your #employees are your company without them you wouldn't be the company you are.
I work at the Katy branch! I love it! It’s fun to see someone random in public, on my day off, wearing a Bucees shirt. As I pass them, I mention “Hey, I like your shirt, I work there”. They always respond with, “OMG, I LOVE BUCEES!” 😆👏🏻

They steal their idea of a logo from a television commercial and have the audacity to sue a company using an alligator for a mascot?
I spent 35 years in the identity biz and I find this appalling.
I watched as a Buc Ee's was built here in South Carolina and I watched as they Employed hundreds of people, and young people and set a standard for good work. we don't have much here in South Carolina but we are most certainly grateful for our Buck Ee's.
First time stopping in a Buc-ees and I have to say I was very impressed! It was HUGE, it was CLEAN, it was active with people ready & willing to help. There were plenty of well-lit gas pumps and the price of gas was 16 cents less than the Gateway plaza at the next exit.
I went to the one about 2 hours away from where I live yesterday. Gas was almost $1 cheaper per gallon.
They most likely have cheaper gas due to them originating in the Freeport area and south of houston. Probably made good connections with the oil refineries.
@@brandonthomass possibly but I know some convenience stores will also try to offset gas prices via in store purchases, and they can definitely do that with their inventory.
you're such a mark. The gas was cheap because nearly everything inside is overpriced except for the ice and the icees and the generic bottled water which are all a dollar or less. You did exactly what they expected you to do. You filled up and since there were 200 pumps you left the car and went inside and gave them real money. I went into buckees to buy gatorade and the white separatist couple in front of me bought 84 dollars of t shirts... that's not normal at a gas station.
@@billlexington5788 this is exactly it right there...their gas is not how they make their money, it's all the other stuff they have...larger convenience stores will actually lose money on gas just to get people in the store, because they know once they're in there, vast majority of the time, they're gonna buy something else & in a store this size, there's a lot of 'something else' to buy...
So what’s the problem? I just watched a story here about 2 very hard working, dedicated business men with a vision they brought to life, bringing them much deserved success. Outstanding job Buc-cees!

Two weeks ago, my wife and I traveled from central NC to Tampa. After stopping at the new Buc-ee's in Florence, SC, it worked out perfectly for us to hit the store in Daytona. Then on the way home, St. Augustine Fl and once again, Florence.
It was a short trip for us but in all honesty, we spent more money at Buc-ee's than any other place during our trip, outside of our actual hotel. Great store.

Just stopped at the newest Buc-ee's in Florance, SC in October, 2022. This place is incredible! The food, variety and cleanliness of the facility is Top Notch! Can't wait to stop again on my next vacation.
The Buc-ee’s empire is a well-known chain of convenience stores located in Texas. It offers a wide range of snacks, drinks, and other items for travelers and local residents. The stores are famous for their clean facilities and friendly staff, making them a popular stop for road trips. Buc-ee’s empire has grown over the years, expanding to multiple locations across the state.
The founders of Buc-ee’s started with a single store in Lake Jackson, Texas, and have since built a successful business empire. They prioritize providing customers with a pleasant shopping experience and high-quality products. Buc-ee’s empire has become a staple in Texas culture, known for its iconic beaver mascot and clean restrooms. The company's commitment to excellence has helped it thrive in a competitive market.
In addition to its convenience stores, the Buc-ee’s empire has expanded to include travel centers that offer fuel, food, and other amenities for travelers. These travel centers provide a one-stop shop for those on long journeys, making them a convenient choice for rest stops. The Buc-ee’s empire continues to grow and innovate, remaining a beloved brand in Texas and beyond.
Worked at Bucees for several years and I really have only heard that the Ipana Beaver story once. Yes he was called Beaver as a kid, and he did have a dog named Buc or Buck, but that was named after the high school just minutes down the road from their first store. The school's mascot or whatever you call it is the Buccaneers and it was the high school that Arch also went to and graduated from.

The first time I went to Bucees, the guy who took me there referred to it as a "religious experience" and then walked out an hour later with 10 bags like going to Wal-Mart 😆
Our adult kids excitedly told us about their first visit to a Buc-Ees, the one in South Alabama off I-10 near the beach exits. They were extremely impressed and bought quite a few items that they had not seen anywhere else. Buc-Ees is amazing! We have stopped at the one at Leeds, AL off I-20 numerous times and while traveling thru have stopped there with friends who had never heard of Buc-Eees. They were all quite impressed. Over 120 gas pumps, huge spotlessly clean bathrooms. There were about 16 men’s toilet rooms with full doors and at least that many sinks and urinals, lots of fresh food choices, decor items, souvenirs, name brand clothing, shoes and accessories, etc. Prices are good as well. The one in Leeds is across the street from a huge Bass Pro Shops and an outlet mall is across the interstate.
Love Buc-ee's! Recently we were so elated to see one in AL then a few in FL when travelling! There is nothing like it especially the very clean bathrooms and so spoiled because they have so many in Texas. My husband likes to say, " It's not a road trip until you've seen the Beaver"!
We got one in Richmond kentucky this year. Love it.

You missed an important differentiation for Buc-ee's over other convenience stores. They were known to ALWAYS have clean restrooms. So this made them a go-to when people went to the beach, fishing, or anywhere around town and needed to make a pit-stop. Then, while there, they would buy other things. It is an excellent model that not many have chosen to follow. Your 2003 mention is just when they started to explode into other regions other than Brazoria County, Texas.
You know how important clean restrooms are! Here in the Midwest there are Wally's with the kangaroo. Super Wawa had great restrooms and food. Mostly in the East coast VA and NJ.
Kwik Trip in the Midwest always has clean bathrooms
@@andrewfrodo2086Agreed, I'd like to support the Mom & Pop but lets face it, most independently (or local chains) owned gas stations & convenient stores have filthy bathrooms, unorganized & usually ran by filthy sloppy people. I used to go to Sunoco because their gas is among the best but their stores are independently run & down right slovenly at that!
@@seanb6478 bc they can't compete. Small business spark nostalgia to us, but corporatization is part of our larger destiny I think. As one industry becomes mostly, then entirely, corporate, new industries spring up by feasting on the dead and dying. Such is the Circle of Capitalism. It's economic Darwinism.
But just like in nature, our market requires harmony and balance to be healthy.
We should seek to promote an econ environment where fairness is paramount. But even more important now is probably Climate Change. Carbon footprint should've be a major focus of all govt regulation. It's a health and national security issue. Few things could be more important. If we do not change things, America's time will end. I fear I'll see it in my lifetime. I fear the Union will dissolve into a set of Confederations of States by region. But our regions are so mixed. My home, upstate NY will probably seperate from the City bc of the conservatives hating the liberal city. But the city metro has an economy the size of most nations. It would be even larger if it got federal spending anywhere near what it deserves. It produces 10x the amount of revenue that thinly populated rural states get but gets same or less in than those states in infrastructure spending. Bc a big ass state like Utah or Montana have hundreds of bridges and 100's of miles of interstates. That means endless millions in asphalt and heavy HW construction. But the Lincoln tunnel brings MILLIONS to work an back everyday. It's failing and needs (and deserves) a $10-20 billion rebuild. Trump blocked federal contribution it to punish HIS OWN HOMETOWN for not voting for him. Then Biden has to focus on Covid relief spending bc that was already trillions.
The subway carries more ppl to work and back than several large western mountain rural Red states combined. The state gets saddled with helping to pay for the city, basically like a small nation. NYC might see that it pus far more in taxes than it gets in spending
@@burtan2000 I agree on the environmental issues you mentioned.
As for the liberal cities, they hate "red" areas far more than the other way around even according to left wing news outlets.
As for the Lincoln Tunnel, they charge PLENTY per vehicle (I paid $15 for my compact car in 2016) so they can give up their Socialistic nonsense and pay for maintenance themselves.

Holy crap have you see what they pay their people?!?! I own a roofing company and if they built one near me, my wife and I would shut it down and go work for that beaver.
You must be paying s*** wages then
You may want to rethink that. Go look at their true hiring practices and five year contracts that include a “retention bonus” you have to pay back if you leave the job for any reason. Enough to bankrupt you. Most people don’t think about that until they realize five years is a LONG time.
thats pretty sad...

However, the acreage of the lot they bought is more than they typically buy for a regular store (33 acres). Don't think it will be as big as Mississipi, lol, but we will see.
@@chromero3783 The Crossville property is only 17 acres. We won’t be getting the car wash, just the store and 120 fueling positions. They just opened Calhoun on Monday. The same contractor is building the Crossville store. I’m betting they will be very similar, if not clones.
Incredible work man!
Thanks for the support!

Due to living in the north, I've only been to a Buc-cees once. I can say beyond a doubt, I look forward to going to another. It was awesome!
I remember a road trip where we stopped at Bucee’s in Terrell, then 9 hours later stopped at the one in Alabama too!
As a Texan I love Buc-ees ❤️
Went to my first Buc-ee’s in Florence SC. Everything was clean and everything worked. Great selection and the merchandise wasn’t overpriced. I expected it to be stupid expensive.
Same. Just went to that one as my first experience. All I have to say is their chicken burritos have no business being as good as they are 🥵
@@ZeeZee9 None of it has any business being that good!
@@RarelyReplies lol true!
I've been to buccees, honestly, it's no different than any other huge gas station. It's more like a souvenir shop than a gas station and expensive. I would drive out of my way to go to one.
We love our Buc-ee's down here in Florida
Can't wait to see more built
Btw my science teacher went to college with the creater of Buck-Ees
That's awesome!
I love Buc-ee’s!! When I see one I will stop at it. It’s just that good!!
Stopped at my first one in KY a few weeks ago - can't wait to go back!
I went to buc-ees in Georgia 🇬🇪 and loved it they should be nationalized
Bucees is literally big as target
Best cleanest restrooms
Other chains should really take notice of this
Have one opening in my home town of Auburn,Al soon. Can't wait!
