I would rather have the Bucks make all of their mistakes now than later
Fr we not even half way thru the season, they have time to make mistakes and figure out they flaws.
If the bucks continue to make strides and play physical and aggressive defense like they did Thursday, I could see them being right there with Boston. But if they trickle back to their bad defensive habits, and dame is still inconsistent, that proves that this was certainly a fluke game for the Celtics, and the bucks may have just caught them at the right time.

Man, what a dominant performance by Milwaukee especially defensively which was probably their best defensive game.
Suuure, a statement win, right? Not so much. The Bucks showed that they can beat the Celtic's 2nd team and also their 3rd stringers too. The Celtics had an actual statement game the previous night, the best team (by record) in the East beating the Timberwolves, the best team in the West, in a closely contested game that wasn't settled until overtime. The Celtics preserved their perfect home court record at 18-0. Tatum scored 45 and Brown added 35, for 80 points combined. For their next game against the Bucks, the Celtics played their starters token minutes and pulled them all by the 2nd Qtr. Giannis and company beat the stuffings out of guys named LeMarr Stevens, JD Davidson, and Oshae Brisset. Look at the game stats and the minutes played by each Celtics player. The Bucks are a good team, obviously. But they did not make any statement on this night. They got a W that the Celtics handed to them because they decided to rest their starters.

As a Celtics fans there’s not much of an excuse. Even with the high playtime recently they should have been able to compete through the first half. Bucks played well while the we just simply didn’t 🤷♂️

You gotta be able to knock down shots especially given open looks, the bucks play good defense but every team is gonna play hard in the playoffs and there’s no hope in a deep run if your team can’t play hard night in and night out. Honestly they shoulda all been put on load management if they were gonna go out before the first half was over

It's important to see what a healthy and serious Buck's team is capable of. Let's not forget that there are only 5-6 games differential between the second seed and the 8th seed which means that this season every game is extremely important. We are fortunate to witness such a great season!

Cs did not even put an effort in and Bucks were all flexing like they "beat" us lol. Milwaukee will be lucky to make ECF tbh. Boston and Phila are both better than them head to head.

Joel gets much worse in the playoffs cause he cant rely on foul calls anymore and the pressure gets to him. He went from 32 ppg last year to 25 ppg. Also milwaukee has better players than philly Giannis > Embiid and Dame > Maxey. Thanks for breaking this down mainly from the first half/ Celtics starters. That's the part that matters, I've been waiting for this matchup for a while, and the second half showed me zero info about what will happen during a playoffs matchup.
I thought it was interesting having the Celtics just give up and blame b2b games as their excuse. Gotta be prepared for back to back games with roster cycling and load management.

when they focus and put they’re head down they are easily the best team in the league. they couldn’t focus up lately and utah blew them out, so they finally got into it the third quarter and made a crazy comeback, but started celebrating too soon and lost it in the fourth quarter. this game they were in it from start to finish and that’s why they blew the celtics back out like that

I don’t think it’s good enough to blame the Celtics poor night on being tired since, while it might have played some factor, every team in the league has faced back-to-backs where they have managed to win. In fact, Bostons bench unit actually went toe to toe with Milwaukees starters in the 3rd, suggesting that they might have had a better shot in this game if they involved the bench sooner. Still, you can’t disregard the Bucks offense in this game. They put on an absolute masterclass and I imagine taking down a bitter rival in such a big way would give the entire team a much needed morale boost, given how they’ve struggled as of late. This will be an interesting playoff series when we get to it, especially once Dame has his personal life sorted and he and Giannis get more chemistry… scary times

It wasn't really "tired." Sure that might have something to do with it, but this was just a no show from Boston. They didn't even put in an effort. It was very clear they didn't want anything to do with this. Milwaukee is great, but I really think this breakdown is giving WAY too much credit to them. This was not a true telling of these two teams both putting in effort.

@@Jayson_Tatum True, Boston stopped trying after halftime and in fact during the 2nd it just looked like they weren’t interested in competing after the 25-0 run but you still have to give Milwaukee their flowers, they defended well inside the arc which is something they haven’t been doing well this year.

Celtics played so bad they set a record for most points down at halftime in the shot clock era…Celtics are 15-1 when they make 38% or higher from 3 and 14-8 when they don’t. League average is about 36% so I’d say when those shots are falling it’s very difficult for teams to win, but they weren’t, and the bucks physically were better and more rested, so Celtics couldn’t attack the post either.
Edit: unless this does affect the players the next however many games taking them out at halftime is a weak move, but that’s not gonna happen in the playoffs if they happen to be down that much. Plus what did the bench guys do? Ended up out scoring the bucks bench + starters by 5 in the 2nd half, and shot 8/13 from 3.

im not a fan of either but frankly the starters played back to back after an overtime win with the #1 seed in the opposing conference. Starters off for half the game with no opportunity to bounce back frankly I'm unimpressed and disinterested with this win. I'm more concerned about the fans being let down by the Celtics putting their bench on and sitting their starters out for most of the game. Frankly everyones way too overhyped about this win. Bucks played absolutely fantastic and took advantage of an unmotivated roster that's all....
Frankly they knew what their schedule was. They knew they were facing a tired twolves team who just completed their own first game of the back to back. Yet the wolves took the lazy celtics to overtime. Then the Celtics decided to come to Milwaukee and let the slumping bucks walk all over them. They assumed that the bucks would continue to slump. They knew their schedule and they could've been prepared, and if they had adequate depth, they could've reduced their starters minutes in both games. but not so. Celtics will likely find out what everyone else already knows: a couple losses can start to add up. You can't act like being the first seed is guaranteed less than halfway through an 82 game season lol

Just watching the starters in the first half was the whole story. They wanted nothing to do with competing in this game. And once it got way out of hand, they pulled the plug. They didn't even put an effort in. I expected them to lose given the OT the night before, but at least TRY.

But if we want to get petty let’s go back to Friday and Monday. Celtics annihilated Utah on Friday at home. Bucks got roasted by Utah at home. Clearly Celtics could have done much better. We’ll settle this in our next matchup that both teams are well rested and healthy.
