Okay since you kids don't get catholic theology, let me break is down simply. In Leviticus 18 22, "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; such thing is an abomination". These are the rules lain under chaper 18, "the sanctity of sex". Sex is designed to bring new life into this world along with bonding the man and woman married into the catholic church. So much so that, for a catholic marriage to be legit, the newlyweds HAVE to consummate their marriage that night for the ceremony to count. This is why gay marriage is banned. Sodomy is a sin according to chapter 18, verse 22 of Leviticus and you can't have a legit marriage in catholicism without the sex. In other words, you cannot confirm a sacrament with a singul act. Two men or two women can absolutely live in the same house and love each other. That's literally what the monks do. You simply can't have gay sex. Heck, us catholics have strict rules about not having sex before we're married too. If we could just ignore text of our religious handbook it wouldn't be a dang religion now would it? Nobody is perfect and we all screw up, which is why our sins can be forgiven, but to erase the word of God and say "welp we said it's no longer a sin so it's no longer a sin!" is wrong!

In Leviticus 18 22, "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; such thing is an abomination".
These are the rules lain under chaper 18, "the sanctity of sex". Sex is designed to bring new life into this world along with bonding the man and woman married into the catholic church. So much so that, for a catholic marriage to be legit, the newlyweds HAVE to consummate their marriage that night for the ceremony to count.
This is why gay marriage is banned. Sodomy is a sin according to chapter 18, verse 22 of Leviticus and you can't have a legit marriage in catholicism without the sex. In other words, you cannot confirm a sacrament with a singul act.
Two men or two women can absolutely live in the same house and love each other. That's literally what the monks do. You simply can't have gay sex.
Heck, us catholics have strict rules about not having sex before we're married too.
If we could just ignore text of our religious handbook it wouldn't be a dang religion now would it? Nobody is perfect and we all screw up, which is why our sins can be forgiven, but to erase the word of God and say "welp we said it's no longer a sin so it's no longer a sin!" is wrong!

God made the rules, in your eyes. He didn't have to make sex a purely procreational activity, therefore making it a sin to have queer sex. It's just cruel. People say God moves in mysterious ways, but I feel like that's just an excuse to justify the backwards, two-faced rules most Christians try to morally enforce. If someone started criticizing your life because it didn't align with a certain religion, you'd get pretty mad, right? So just don't do it to others, it's so easy. You don't even have to stop believing in the principles of your religion. We just want you all to leave us alone, and stop shoving your religion down our throats. We want you to stop reminding us that you think there's something wrong with us every time we express ourselves in ways you don't like, for example, perhaps not entirely biblically accurate jokes. This world is so big, with so many different perspectives, worldviews, religions, it's unfathomable. There is no way we could ever know which, out of all of them, is subjectively correct. If any at all! And the fact that you're willing to overlook that, declare that you're definitively right, and try to deny joy and pleasure from others based on that is jarring and weird. I'm sorry for the block of text, but I can't just let a statement like that go untouched. It's a good analysis of the text itself, like I said. Possibly one of the most nuanced and inoffensive takes I've seen on that specific verse. I feel that you don't genuinely believe queer people are inherently sinful like so many Christians do. But it's just such a flimsy defense as to why we should be shaming and restricting others.
