      You can get a very nice printer for under $200... that's like the same price as a paper printer. Not really spoiling anyone with that, and the knowledge gained by using one is certainly worth much more than the investment.

  • @harambeexpress

    That worked even better than I thought - in no small part because of your artistic and practical skills. I would probably try to use ABS just because I couldn't bear the thought of leaving PLA glasses in a hot car accidentally!

    @DD-ze7qm Před 6 lety +4

    Good job - The frame front of most eyewear tips forward approximately 7 to 14 degrees from vertical ( a quality known as pantoscopic tilt ).It makes it look more settled on the face and contributes to better optical performance.

    They look amazing, but I think they look a bit too generic. Don't get me wrong, I still am digging them, but it would be awesome if you design some unique frames. Maybe try a frame with the style you used in the squeegee(?), where you made the inner pattern look through.

    • @make.anything

      sniperkitty 3000xx Oh shut up. The one I said it to, isn't even angry. I was not hating, I just gave some constructive criticism to an artist, which is crucial. There would be no good quality art, if no one would give any criticism. If you can't take it, then gtfo.

    • @RiBloody
      @RiBloody Před 7 lety +9

      Sameer Pervez while how they said it was rude I think what they were going for was the "but" part. As an artist I know constructive criticism is great but the whole "it's great but" is one of the worst ways to word it, even in school it was terrible to hear because it felt like the first part is a lie and it gives people the sense they can say whatever they want? Anyway I think another way you could have worded it was "I think it's great and I was wondering if you were going to try any other styles? Perhaps more ornate ones?" Also those glasses styles are actually popular among some and for a sports player larger glasses are better, speaking as someone who owns prescription sports lenses.
      I hope you don't find this mean or anything I just wanted to throw my two cents in! Especially if you're going to be dealing with younger artists too since you seem to have good tastes in art!! Have an awesome day!!!!

    • @make.anything
      @make.anything  Před 7 lety

      Thanks! If I win the competition, it gets custom shaped lenses.. otherwise, they're just mockups :P I may try to make a pair built around an existing lens shape

    • @LindyDesignLab
      @LindyDesignLab Před 7 lety

      Thinking of experimenting with the old lenses next time I need new ones. Have you tried frames with T-Glase filament? That might look neat translucent, but I don't know if it would heat mold.

  • @janhavel8208
    @janhavel8208 Před 7 lety

    This is awesome, i've always wondered if it's possible to print out frames and how the material would behave when you heat it up (for inserting the lenses and adjusting). Actually the groove for the lenses is usually V shaped :) You probably could get lenses with zero dioptres if someone would be willing to edge them for you :) Well, now get a 3D printer and I can happily make plastic frames that will fit me haha

      @make.anything  Před 6 lety +1

      I'm not sure, but I think a lenscrafter can shape a blank lens to fit different glasses, as long as they have a proper groove to fit into place.
