  • The thumb, just like any other joint can develop wear and tear that can lead to pain, stiffness, weakness and limitations.
There are many treatments for thumb joint arthritis, which can also be referred to as CMC, Carpal Metacarpal or base thumb arthritis.
CMC Osteoarthritis (OA) can be initially be diagnosed with simple hand xray, Ultrasound, CT scan and MRI can help in making the diagnosis but are usually not necessary.
Treatment of CMC OA usually starts with non-surgical treatment like ICE, NSAIDS, bracing and activity modifications. When the disease progress, injections or surgery might be an option.
For those patients that want to avoid surgery while attempting a more natural treatment option. The Institute of Regenerative Orthopedics & Sports Medicine (IROSM) can perform a minimally invasive orthobiologic injection. Orthobiologics are hyper concentrated cells from the patient’s immune system, prepared in a personalize matter using IROSM’s proprietary protocols to stimulate a healing response.
