In today’s terms, a PET scan and PET/CT scan are synonymous. PET scans are most often performed either to help diagnose cancer, or to more accurately stage (or restage) cancers, and even to assess the effectiveness of therapy in patients undergoing treatment. PET scans can also be performed for certain conditions of the brain and heart.
In this video, you will learn the fundamentals of PET scanning and experience from check-in to check-out and what it’s like to undergo this procedure. We will cover everything from the injection itself, reading images, what to expect, and more!
We care deeply about the patient experience, and sometimes, getting a “preview” of what to expect can be helpful. As you can see from our Google Reviews, patients love us and we wanted to share some of that experience with everyone.

Nice job clarifying that this isn't a scan for pets, but a PET scan for cancer patients, among other things! The Center looks beautiful!

Hi my question is regarding the cardiac pet scan stress test. How long does that one take, meaning how long do I have to lie still on the table and will my arms and head be out? Will I be able to be sedated? Is it possible to have the test broken up into 2 seperate parts under the scanner so that I can move and get a break in between sections? Thank you!!!

So do they always give some type of “sugar in IV”? Exactly what is in IV. If not diabetic do you still have some product with sugar in it?

They always ask about diabetes and meds, and usually check your blood glucose level before they start. It's radioactive labelled glucose, very small dose and no other way to do it. It's the glucose that's taken up by cancer cells

@@cassieoz1702. That’s what I wanted to know. Thanks. I’ve needed Ativan to get through an mri but not for a Lexi scan. As long as they don’t put that awful cage over my face 😅.
