    Ouija (Oui & Ja - French & German for 'yes'), was originally invented as a game where the aim was to reach your inner self - nothing to do with ghosts, demons or spooky shit! Personally, if you insist on using games to speak to demons, I'd recommend Scrabble. Cheers Mythos for keeping the content coming 😄

      The name does not come from the French and German words for yes. The inventor asked the so-called spirits what the board should be called, and Ouija was spelled out on it.

    I do agree with this idea/theory, as when I was a young girl, I tried to use one with my eyes closed, nothing, but only worked when I could look at the board. It is an interesting theory, for sure. Does not work with just one person either. Well never has when I tried it. Good one Mythos. Cheers Somewhere on my chanel is a wee short on the origins of the board, who first made it, who purchased the rights to it, and one of the owners fell off a building lol... weird. Good video! 😊I know that some people have had, what they felt, was paranormal experience while using a Ouija board, and I won't say that they did not because I was not there. But in my own opinion, you are right what you said in the video. Your own expectation and the circumstances can play tricks on you, as Richard Wiseman proved in several cases and various locations. What makes a Ouija board so convincing for those using it is the fact that you are moving the planchette without even knowing it yourself, it's completely subconscious. So you could swear to all that is holy and even pass lie detector tests that you did not move it. But you really did.
    Logic tells us it needs to have something to do with the people, because the board does not work with blindfolded people and it also does not work when nobody is laying his fingers onto the planchette.
    I think the whole psychological aspect of the Paranormal tends to come too short. It's not that people seeing ghosts are crazy, far from it. But our brain is the deciding factor what is real for us, and it is influenced by expectation and evironment. And it also makes errors, just look at pareidolia. So literally, you cannot trust neither your eyes, ears or even memories, these can be fake, too.

    When I was in 4th grade we did a thing on the ideomotor effect where we would tie a string to a washer, then we’d hold the string still and think of a shape, then another. The washer would always spin to form whatever shape I thought of. It was a way to show us that if we believe we can do something, it can be achieved, and that message was written on all our washers.

    Ouija boards were intended for fun, like all board games. Same with Tarot cards and those Spirit Apps are the same. All for a bit of a laugh.
    It's when you see people using them and claiming that they have connected to people from the 'spirit world', that's when the alarm in your head should go off. Red flags everywhere.
    You'd have just about the same chance as talking to Elvis while playing Snakes and Ladders in my opinion. Utter nonsense.

    That is an interesting experiment. I’ve used boards since I was young. Always with people I trust. I’ve gotten some just random responses to something very intelligent that says things I didn’t expect. I will be doing several experiments myself. I can’t wait to see Beardos experiments. I’ve been super excited for that.

    • @theoccultlifemedia
      @theoccultlifemedia Před 5 měsíci

      @@MythosParanormal for a while he’s been teasing a series of Ouija board experiments since late November or early December. He’s doing them with skeptics, believers etc. He hasn’t given up all the details. But it’s Beardo… so probably going to be pretty thorough. His theory seems to be (I could be wrong) that if non believers use it nothing will happen. And that the thing I can’t really get past. In the Quantum field of research they are finding experiments can be skewed just by thought or belief. This is where my mind goes down a rabbit hole. Especially with the paranormal. I would have to write an actual book to explain my thoughts and beliefs. But I think possibly most paranormal phenomena can be linked to human belief, thoughts and fear. Still what we would consider paranormal. Because these phenomena are happening outside the norm of how things are said to act/react. As an example the third tunnel. Most of the haunting at that location revolves around an urban legend. I can’t deny the feeling there and the activity seemed to be one of the more active places we’ve been. But knowing what we knew, we didn’t get any activity related to kids. Most of that video which I will be going over in a debunking video on ourselves is speculative and can have other possible explanations. The Ouija board did nothing in there. Just random nonsense. The places it worked the best for Zack and I seemed to be places we had no information on. And each place reacted with a different movement that seemed to have a different personality. But I digress. My point being some places seem to be purely allegorical. Or Egragorical. I would like to dive into that phenomenon. As those hauntings seem to start based on a rumor but take on a life of their own. As though the belief brought it to life. Or perhaps a mischievous spirit feeds off of these false fears. So many theories. Btw… the reason I was so scared at that location had 0 to do with the paranormal and everything to do with how dangerous that location is. But we will be explaining that too. It’s hard trying to keep a video short and getting all information in. So we will probably be doing more investigating as serious series in the future. That way people can see more of the investigative research that goes into it. Our launch was rushed and not well thought out. But we learned a lot in the process. But anyway yeah. I can’t wait for those experiments he’s doing. I hope the first part comes soon.

    About 25 years ago me and a bunch of friends always got together every two weeks to discuss the paranormal. One day we decided to experiment with a ouija board. Since no one actually owned one, we made one ourselves. We only put the letters of the alphabet on it and a STOP sign. The four of us who were sitting at the table with our fingers on the glass were blindfolded using an eye mask. Let me reassure you that you could NOT see through the masks. We didn't ask any questions. The others were witnesses, one wrote down the letters. We actually got two messages. It WORKED. At one point we switched places. And guess what, nothing happened. When we swithed again to the original four people, it worked again and we got one message. Funny thing is that the messages were for the witnesses, not for the people at the table. Another funny thing is that the messages made sense. We think that one of the people at the table was a sensitive and we think we know who.

      I have a similar story on my 16th birthday about a decade and a half ago. My sister, 2 friends, and I played with an Ouija board at my friend's house while one of my friends BF was in the other room. We turned out all the lights. After a while of playing, It spelled out knock knock, and as my sister finished saying the last knock. Someone knocked on the front door - which was so creepy. We all screamed. We didn't know my friend's BF invited his friend over. And the guy got freaked out too from hearing nothing but a bunch of girls screaming and no lights being on. But you mentioned one of your friends being sensitive and honestly most of us there talked about the weird stuff we have had happened that it makes sense no one could possibly fake that.

    First off, love the channel and what you’re doing. Watched almost all your vids and have subscribed.
    While I do agree it’s most likely someone moving it, I do have a personal experience with a board while “playing” solo. So, if anyone was moving it, I only need look in the mirror to point the finger. That being said, I did get a name come through which I had no knowledge of. It was a weird name , and claimed to be a powerful demon. This name was verified much later on and was in fact another iteration of “Satan”. Again, no clue this name even existed.
    There were others in the room watching, and one of them had the ability to kill any conversation by stating “Go away”. There was no input from anyone in the room until this person realized the demon was trying to hypnotize me (planchette kept going A to Z rapidly and repeatedly). I remember feeling a bit weird, not wanting to stop, until that person said “Go Away”. The convo died immediately and the planchette returned to the middle of the board. I pulled my hands away, and that is when that person stated it was trying to hypnotize you. Cannot explain but still gives me the chills when I think about it.

I can’t even read it goes so fast and it’s a lot of fun but only with my sis. Never works with anyone else.

    I wish I’d known about the stack of card tip when I was a teen.
    Me and a couple of friends made a paper Ouija and tried it out in the toilets in our block. A separate friend was convinced she had been pushed in there whilst alone. We used a little beaker I ‘borrowed’ from the biology classroom. It moved, we all freaked out and ran. Personally I think the only time I’d ever use one again is if we put a little stack of cards on the planchette.
    My mum, a horror fan, was freaking out one day because there was a proper board dumped in the hedgerow opposite the house. She naturally assumed I, the gothic/metal head child, was the one who tried to hide it there. No chance. But I have always suspected my idiot little brother and his best mate. All the other kids in the area were way too young to get their hands on one.
    Mum also freaked out when my brother came home with the Exorcist on video. She swore blind it was heavier than a normal video tape & therefore not normal. She told my brother to get rid of it, so it ended up at mine. I think being pregnant with me when she dragged my dad to the cinema to watch the Exorcist possibly made her a little more sensitive to the film. 😂

    Ouija boards I just dismiss out of hand. They started out as a parlor game for bored socialites.
    I also find it impossible to believe that an item that was mass produced and is sold in the board game aisle next to monopoly and mouse trap in the stores would be able to open portals to the "other side" and be the modern day equivalent of text messaging back and forth with a spirit.
    That card experiment is pretty cool, definitely something I'd use when trying to convince a superstitious believer in Quija boards.

    I'd never seen the card thing before! How cool! It's so simple , but yeah- never seen anyone use it! I did have something weird happen with one once when I was a teenager. I was about 15 or 16 and my cousin and a friend of mine were playing with a board one night in my bedroom. When the planchette moved, we were all accusing each other of moving it. We all took our hands off of the planchette to argue about it. We were all sitting on the floor with the board in the middle of us.
    Anyway, while we were arguing about who moved the planchette, it flew off of the board and hit the wall on the other side of my room hard! We all looked at each other, knowing that none of us were touching it at that point...haha! All hands were accounted for and since the light was on, we could all see each other just fine. Then my closet door flew open and shut again. It was the kind of door that was in a track, so it folded open and closed...not like a normal door.
    My cousin bolted out of the room while my friend and I just sat there staring at each other. Then we ran to tell my parents what just happened. My Dad took the board out into the back yard and burned it. Our neighbors probably wondered what in the hell he was burning in the middle of the night...haha! I still have no logical explanation for all of that. Other than in that room, I've never had anything like that happen with a board again. I tend to be a sceptic, but I have to admit, I had a lot of weird things happen in that house...not in the rest of the house- just in my bedroom there.

    played with Ouija boards a lot when I was a kid and there have only been 2x that what happened couldn't have been faked. I had a friend over, we were playing with it and nothing happened. We decided to go swimming and I left the board out on my dining room table. I left the planchette on the middle of the left side of the board and my friend and I went swimming. When we came back in the house the planchette had somehow moved to the top right side. There was no one else home at the time that could've moved it as a prank, no cat that could've jumped up and moved it. The 2nd time there was an answer that only the person who wasn't playing could've known. My friend who wasn't playing asked where her lost scrunchie was, after an answer came through the 3 of us went to her house and looked where it had said and it was there. If anyone could explain those then i'd believe they're 100% fake, until then i'm sticking with my belief that they're 99% fake and that 1% chance you take of something real happening isn't worth taking that risk.

    Can you do a short video on how you set up the cards to go on top? Or explain it to me? I’ve been thinking about it. I’ve always used the board with a super light touch. Our arms get tired and hurt because we are holding them up, not resting or applying any kind of pressure. Whenever the planchette moved it felt pulled. How hard do you have to touch that cards? Are they loose and slippery? Are they laminated? Maybe I can se up an experiment with strings too. As if it was moving towards you the string should go loose.

  • @knightmaremedia7795

    Here's the deal:
    Ouiga or spirit boards go back to ancient Egypt to game called Senet, which evolved into a way for them to communicate with the dead.
    So its concept is very old. And perhaps where in the 1800s the idea and influence came from for the Ouiga Board
    To your point ; subconscious micro movements is a real thing however this itself doesn't debunk everything.
    Since the 1800s theres been literally thousands of accounts from people of all backgrounds claiming that everything from benine activity to downright possession has occurred using the board. What are the real odds that each one of them has been fake?
    I think youll agree that it's not very good.
    Which brings me to this point: if just 1 of those thousands of accounts is real, and based on the odds , there's probably more than that, then that means the caution when using the board is absolutely warranted and it's not all fraudulent.
    I think based on the numerous accounts; one is best to use caution. Science doesn't know everything; if it did there wouldn't be anything paranormal.

    • @MythosParanormal
      @MythosParanormal  Před 5 měsíci +2

      Oh that's the thing I said at the start, there will be people that truly believe it was real. So much so that I bet they could pass lie detector tests. Because they are unaware that it was actually themselves 🙌

      @knightmaremedia7795 Před 5 měsíci

      Personally I think one should excerise caution.
      On the other hand from a purely investigation stand point, I think it's stupid and a waste of time to use it on a investigation as there's nothing you can prove as theres simply way to many uncontrollable variables. It's a useless tool in that regard.
      Best case, which is also the worst case scenario is a bunch of things happen you can't prove and on top you end up being just another story with something no one understands attached or otherwise turning your life upside down... it's just not worth it in any metric.

    Both could be right. It can be the person pushing it and sometimes perhaps an entity possesses the person like a medium and moves it through the person. A lot of people have sworn the planchette has moved on its own without hands on it after using it. Ronnie James Dio mentioned it when he and Ritchie Blackmore used to use one all the time. I wouldn't call this evidence a debunking of the Ouija board, more like one explanation.

    The Ouija board I've always been sceptical off and micromovements and subconscious movement are the main causes. I find it so funny how many say it's evil and that yet Hasbro used to sell Ouija boards as toys well into the 2000 😂.
    I had an argument years ago with someone about I would be more impressed if the planchet would move by its self (without magnets etc). You always get the same story "I knew someone who did this or a friend did this and the end result was always the same story - what's worse is when they drag fake creepy pasta into the mix and it becomes even more laughable 😂

It all went quiet about 30 mins later and i went back upstairs and all was quiet like nothing happened i asked did you not hear me yelling and the dog Barking like nuts? and they said no? what are you talking about? to this day i will never use one of these hell boards

    Someone will say...ah but your fingers have to make contact with the planchette. The Ouija (thats weee jaaa) board was also called the demon board. Now...the bible says that ghosts don't exist and what you may 'contact' will be a demon pretending to be a ghost or spirit so as to trick you to 'the dark side' (no starwars jokes here). For that reason alone I wouldn't even touch a board or partake in anything like it.

  • @random.person1623

    Thats interesting but isnt the whole point of the ouija board that you subconciously move it to what the spirits are trying to say or sth like that?
