  • We convert our loader bucket from "pin on" to quick attach. As part of the project we disassemble the tilt cylinders prior to rebuild.

    I bet you're right. That cylinder has probably never been apart.
    Great to see you posting some video Mike. Look forward to more.
    Colin ;-)

    A lot of gaps I’m afraid…first of all it should be noted that the spring has a small 90 degree bend in the end that fits in a recess in the gland nut. This is what pushes the spring clip out, as well as pulls it in when reassembling! I could never find anything on CZcams or anywhere else that shows how to do this. Spent 2-3 hours looking…but once I figured it out, it only took about 30 min to do the rebuild. Now, on the second cylinder…turning the gland nut did nothing to move the spring clip to a position that would allow removal! The end of the spring clip had sheared off and was not affected by moving the nut! No way to slide the spring around! What I finally did was take a cut-off wheel in a die grinder and cut the cylinder at the spring clip from the clip hole to the end of the cylinder (on mine it was about one half inch. Once that was done, I could work the sorting around to the end and grab it with vice-grip pliers to remove it by taping with a small hammer! Once the cylinder was rebuilt…I heated the end of the spring to duplicate the bent end that had broken off. Luckily I only lost about 1/2” of clip length and it has worked fine! It’s an easy build otherwise! The biggest downside was the cost of the seal kit…my brand cost was $125 per cylinder! Typical is $35-40. No third party suppliers! And was only 3 O-rings, an internal seal, and the ram seal.

    How do you put the spring back in it's groove?

    • @michaelmurray9154
      @michaelmurray9154  Před 4 lety

      All you have to do, is get the end of the clip started

    • @michaelmurray9154

      Just get the end of the wire clip started, and wind it in by turning the end cap. Just the opposite of removing. It's easier to put it in than getting it out because you don't have to find the end of the clip. Mike

    This is not as informative as it could have been. It was not shown how and where the parts go on the shaft nor was it said wherher or not a special tool is needed.

      You are right. My bad. Lost the video on the second video. My apology. BTW no special tools needed to remove the cap, a big wrench and a pick to the get the spring clip end started out of its groove. Mike
