Today begins the 2nd week of our Chiang Mai "Winter" Season adventure with the Wiens' family, SO great to be able to share these experiences with you in this video today!

Stay tuned for tomorrow's video, but first enjoy a walk around the grounds, learning a bit about elephants with us as well, before finishing this beautiful day off with a late-night dinner of hot soup, fried mushrooms, local mountain grilled meats, and laughs amongst friends.
The Elephant Friends resort is a wonderful new take on completely free and honest care for elephants, it was such a treat to be able to learn more today. Not just about elephants themselves, but about how this company is striving to bridge the wild and natural environment requirements (spending this much time this CLOSE to elephants takes huge planning, responsible action, and foresight), also safety (for everyone, most of all the elephants!), and also the sheer size of a space of land big enough to hold all these ideas together in one place!
Amazing experience, truly a wonderful day that I'm proud to share, and I hope you are super excited along with me for Day 2 of this adventure.

The hotel costs 50-60$US per night (our dinner was about 18$US) and the various elephant activities range from 30-50$US.
You can call it quits now, Joel. What I have just watched is arguably the *best* CZcams I’ve ever seen. I don’t know what you could do that would be better. I know now that I can watch you feeding bananas to elephants all day, every day.

My son will be coming to Thailand in two weeks. After a few days in Bangkok, he will travel to Chiang Mai. Hopefully he can find some of the places you show in your videos. I was there in Chiang Mai but many, many years ago. Great video as always!

Joel, this is now my #1 all time favourite video out of all the videos I’ve watched … you were just living my dream and I’m jealous, envious, over the moon happy all at the same time. What a thrill that had to have been - I’d even take a cycling tour to get to that resort/sanctuary just for the opportunity of being able to interact with those wonderful animals. 🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘 Our telephone company has a slogan - let your fingers do the walking; for elephants it’s something more like let your feet do the talking. Amazing for such massive creatures how gentle and sensitive they can be … their trunks, the pads of their feet, their hearing … God absolutely knew what he was doing when he created them for us. I cannot fathom how “we” can bring ourselves to poach and destroy them! 😢😢😢 Btw, elephants will also eat soil/clay to extract salts and minerals they’re lacking. Can’t wait for Thursday’s video!! 🥰🥰🥰

Hi Joel, Li, Mark and Ying. Beautiful video as always. Absolutely loved that spread of greens with dinner. Funny SA also has weird weather extremes. Over 40 C in Summer and sometimes minus 2 or 3 C in Winter. Cape Town and Upington even colder. Sometimes minus 10 C. Only just saw this Video. My baby Girl Caty turned 20 yesterday. My last year with my princess pea living at home. So sad she's moving. Wish I could keep her home forever. Going to miss her so much. She will be taking a piece of my heart with her. You and mark recently been to 2 of my favourite places first one was hamong village sorry if iv spelt it wrong and went to my favourite restaurant for Khao Soi and the other is this elephant place in mae Wang which iv never been to but below the bridge you walked over has or did have bamboo huts along the river and you ordered food from the main road and the food came down in a basket along pulley lines to the bambo huts and to top it off you can see the elephants when they was brought down to the river such a beautiful and relaxing place.
I haven't been in Thailand since the pandemic I'm hoping to this year and stay at this wonderful Elephant resort alway wanted to do it but never got round having a stay there.

The air con also can produce heat. Turn it on to 27 celcius degree for a few minutes. You will sleep well at night. In the northern of Thailand can be very cold in the evening through the night. Freezing!!

Joel, this was one of your best vlogs. The destination was superb and especially the elephant feeding how he was keeping his mouth open for spoon feeding so his trunk could rest on his head was epic. I was laughing. I never fed an elephant in East Africa where I grew up. Not sure if you did as you grew up there also.

Hi Joel. That place looks amazing. I remember staying at a kind of similar place in rural Japan, just a log cabin in a forest with hot spring water coming into the bath. No elephants though. Great video, keep them coming.
