- To complete our Zack Snyder DC trilogy starting with Man Of Steel then moving on to Batman V Superman we've finally hit upon Justice League 2017. Or as some have come to know it, Josstice League. Is it bad? Yes. But does it have some redeeming qualities? I mean if you twisted my arm I guess. But it's all mustache removal, expensive and jarring re-shoots, horrible CGI villains and nonsensical plot moments. But we all had fun with it. Thanks for watching!

@@EasyCure0 I still want to know how Clark Kent coincidentally dies at the same time as Superman and then comes back to life at the same time with no one noticing. I can excuse the glasses as his disguise because that's just Superman's thing, but him just somehow coming back to life, getting back to work, and publicly dating Lois (who's very famous) without anyone noticing makes no sense.
This is a little morbid but I was in a pretty low place prior to Justice League coming out and I said to myself “I can’t die, I have to live long enough to see Justice League.” Once I was in a better place and actually saw it I thought “it’s a good thing my continued survival didn’t depend on this movie being good.”

I also just 3 years ago this month saw both Captains Marvel movies on the same day. Haven't been to the movies since. It hasn't been a big part of my activities for a long time.

@@mdmyer True but the moustache he had for Mission Impossible was a lot thicker than just some stubble. Visually it makes sense for good guy Superman to be clean shaven. He's only bearded in Man of Steel before he dons the cape and suit.

Exactly. The whole point of The Justice League is that there are threats that none of them can handle by themselves. But in this version, literally none of them are needed as long as Superman is around.
Superman literally stops the beat down on Steppenwolf halfway, super speeds away, saves some people and then comes back to finish off Steppenwolf like it wasn't even a big deal.

The commotion that would be caused by the Snyder Cut being ass is too funny to happen. But then again, this timeline we’re in has been pretty wacky lately.
3DHeadCreeps I’d say we’ve got a pretty good odds on it being ass. Cinematography, macho one liners, and slo-mo visually striking moments do not make for a fully realized great movie, and if we were all truly honest with ourselves, I’m sure most of us could agree that Zack Snyder has never actually made a fully realized great movie. As a lifelong DC fan, I truly hope the Snyder Cut somehow finds a way to fart wetter and harder.

I am kind of the opposite of a lot of people on this. I don't want the Snyder cut, never did. Batman is more of a dark hero, that is cause he is human and uses the night to help him. Superman never needed night time or surprise type tactics. Feel they really wasted Henry Cavil, I thought he was the problem till I saw him on a talk show or something. The man has a good sense of humor and should have been allowed to have fun as superman

This is just a rumor, so take it with a grain of salt. Rumor has it AT&T is attempting to get Ben Affleck back as batman, for a possible HBO Max series, whether it's a limited series, or multiple season show is yet to be known.
If this did happen I'd be very excited to see where it goes. I just hope we can still get the Robert Pattinson Batman film as well.

J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon was such a weird choice. He’s already such an iconic comic book character, so you’re going to cast him a s a completely different type of character so people can point and say, “Look, there’s J.K. Simmons”?
I believe he was going to be Gordon in a solo movie with Affleck's Batman and there would have been a whole thing with his character, but it was just dropped after this and Affleck drifting away from the project.
Honestly I loved the idea of JK in that role. He probably nailed it but Whedon left most of his scenes on the floor.
I can definitely get behind him as Gordon, not dream casting, Gary Oldman was my dream casting and that already happened. I know what you’re saying though it does feel a little bit like that, but I’m sure it wasn’t the initial intention.

Honestly, I know this movie had A LOT of issues but one of the main things I disliked about it was how freaking nerfed Wonder Woman was. She legit went toe to toe with Doomsday and was loving every minute. In this though, she could BARELY handle Steppenwolf. The way Superman just swooped in at the end and whooped Steppenwolf like a rag doll was just some major BS. And Batman was SUCH A JOKE in this.

And funny enough according to Zack in his cut of the film she was suppose to be the one to deal the killing blow on Sheppenwolf by chopping his head of after getting beaten up by the other league members.

The REAL problem was that steppenwolf was nerfed. He’s supposed to be an elite veteran warrior, a literal God. They should of at least showed Superman struggling with him too, THEN once they teamed up as 6 taken him down. So much lost potential overall, hopefully the Snyder cut gives it some justice.

Them talking about movie studios doing the same thing over and over again, so long as it still makes money, with the image of Jack Sparrow bailing water out of a sinking ship and riding a submerged mast to a dock, is just beautiful. Kudos to Ben for that one.

A-Train, their version of the Flash, isn't fully paying attention to where he's going while running at super speed and accidently runs straight *through* the main characters girlfriend, instantly turning her into a red mist (in glorious slow-mo too lol).
That show is great, because they aren't afraid to show (sometimes in gory detail) what super powers would actually do to regular people in a real world scenario. Homelander (their version of Superman) literally cuts people in half and melts off faces with his heat vision!

Dash from the Incredibles was the best iteration of the Flash. So many times he could have just done simple things quickly. Without slowing down time and seeing lighting.

Just think, Stanley Kubrick changed large sections of 2001: A Space Oddessey to switch Saturn to Jupiter because the VFX team couldn’t get the rings of Saturn to look realistic enough. WB still couldn’t figure out to delete a scene where the VFX are so bad it takes everyone out of the movie!?

If there was ever a way to justify the Martha scene in BvS, it would be Bruce not allowing the foreclosure on Martha Kent's farm.
Imagine him getting to know her like he didn't get to with his mother.
This made me actually say "Bullshit! Where's Bruce" out loud, when she revealed the foreclosure to Lois
and...he could have just paid off her mortgage, or bought her the farm...
Perhaps. But he IS a busy guy, you know trying to round up the Justice League (and growing a beard while on the hunt for Aquaman, apparently).
Martha is also a proud and humble woman, and probably wouldn't reveal the foreclosure or appeal to Bruce for help, I feel, if he was even around at the time.

How does Cavill's press/security guy look like the perfect Lex Luthor in just a fraction of a second compared to a whole movie of Eissenberg. This guy is both menacing and a physical match for Cavill.
I found Jesse Eisenberg quite fitting for the role of Lex Luthor. And if we're speaking about menacing, just rewatch the scene when he unveils the kryptonite rock and stares at his assistant. Pure evil.
Lex Luthor isn't supposed to be a physical match for Superman that's why he Wears increasingly gigantic suits of armor. His thing was being a MENTAL match for Superman period. The guy who's going to come up with the plan to kill Superman and... holy fuck it worked? Lex Luthor killed Superman on his first try, say what you will about who pulled the trigger but he ultimately got the W. Has that ever happened before? That's like The Joker shooting Batman in the face the first time they meet. Man talk about a overachiever.

But that doesn't say anything about the quality of the character. Any writer could make up a scenario where a weaker character defeats Superman. That doesn't make the weaker character well-written. If the Condiment King kills Superman, is the Condiment King then suddenly a good character?
@@Jiad_Joy Apparently, people who loved BvS also admired the way Eisenberg portrayed Lex. And I found Carol as interesting as the supporting characters. On the other hand, most characters in No Country For Old Men were utterly bland to me.
Say what you will about Man of Steel or Batman v Superman, at least they felt like one consistent vision, whereas this version of Justice League was just a Frankensteinian hodge-podge that was cobbled together by two very different, contrasting filmmakers, a collection of studio notes, and far too many cooks in the corporate kitchen. Easily the worst film in the DCEU.
In my opinion, and this can easily be interpreted either way, alot of what makes this film bad are careless mistakes or errors, probably due to time. BvS (and parts of MoS) feel bad deliberately, like every single scripting or editing decision was made with the purpose of shitting out the worst film possible. Which is worse is up to the viewer, but I find Justice League to be better than BvS.
Oscar McCormack Plus, I find BVS way more dull and visually ugly/bland with about the same level of bad decision with this only if it felt like everyone had a part of it sucking (Snyder, Terrio, Goyer, WB).

The Russian family storyline is an overused staple of Whedons films. He does the same in the 2 avengers films that he directed. In the first one it’s the waitress who Cap saves in the train station and in Age of Ultron, it’s the girl and her younger brother who Quicksilver saves.

I remember how I watched that movie, then stepped out of the theatre and immediately forgot everything about it. Like I could barely recall any scene, any character. All I remembered it had dragons in it and US Marines or something with a tank and one of them has an axe and looks like a viking. Some of it came back but that was such a non-event of a movie.

@@oscarmccormack1611 Literally. Suicide squad and BvS made me angry for not using their potential and developing the story. Justice league didn't even make me angry. I'm just indifferent about it.
@@stipe9k I'll be honest, Suicide Squad left exactly as little impact on me as Justice League did, but that's maybe because I was still so incredibly angry from BvS that literally anything would have been an improvement. I still think that BvS is the worst movie in the current slew of DC movies.
@@oscarmccormack1611 Well, I really like the beginning of Suicide squad. I guess David Ayer started writing it well, but had to hurry due to studio demands, so the movie never went anywhere. At least there was one character I liked in it - Harley Quinn.
@@stipe9k Actually, the beginning forty minutes is the part of the film that was re-shot the most heavily. The last third is what the pre-reshoot version most looks and feels like. And while I like Margot Robbie being cast as Harley Quinn, and she was great in Birds of Prey, I really don't like the character in SS.

I felt that this was the first movie where Cavill really captured how Superman acts in the comics
It's too bad he never got a chance to play the character in a movie that was at least halfway decent. Like at least Andrew Garfield got to come back for a supporting role as Spider-Man in No Way Home
Getting Avengers End Game in 2019 was one of the great blessings we didn't know how much we should appreciate at the time.
Getting a new cut of the Justice League in 2020 feels spot on.

Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver (especially Scarlet Witch) were a part of the larger story. They had origins and own storylines in the comics, sometimes having a prominent part in a larger issue.
I HATEEE that trope of his. It's just so bad. I feel absolutely nothing for these people that are supposed to be the "relatable" human.
In Age of Ultron there was that young boy and his mother that we keep seeing in Sokovia. I get that he's important later since he's the one Hawkeye goes back for, but they telegraph it from like an hour before. DOESN'T NEED, BLOATS MOVIE.

When i saw this movie in the cinemas for the first time I thought that the superman footage at the start was an impostor, and only realised after the movie ended that that superman was Cavill.

I love Justice League, it never fails to make me laugh when Aquaman gets into the water by falling backwards in a super dramatic way. It's just splendid and makes me happy.

I'm just glad we have reviews like this correctly lambasting the stupid scenes that just don't work, done a whole year before the Snyder cut came out, so people can't change their minds once they realize most of those scenes were part of Snyder's original cut.

This can be applied to superhero flicks where all sorts of cosmic horror come to town around the exact time superheroes start showing up. It's the age-old cliche and accusation that superheroes were responsible for creating or luring the bad guys into the world, yet they're the only people strong enough to defeat them. A sceptical mind may claim that the world would have been better off without any of them.
I would love a film just about the DC Trinity.
No major threat just several minor threats that they bond over.
The sequel to Man of Steel should have been a World’s Finest movie that also introduces Wonder Woman. They could have followed that up with Trinity, and then they’d have had time to set up the tension between Batman and Superman, the need to form the Justice League, and Darkseid as the big bad.
But WB and Snyder couldn’t wait and jumped right to the big fight in the last chapter.

That's the thing, they're not the same characters, they're bad versions of the characters we love. Also people that didn't care about the characters wrote for them, without doing any homework as to what makes them loveable
