OGSW is the ONLY SW. Very admiring to see passionate work being put into one of they key pieces in the original trilogy's lore. Originally meant to be told through novel, comics, and game, but the vast majority only ever saw it through the game. A movie would be amazing to revisit the story, as well as shine light on it for less privy fans.

My only real (& inconsequential nitpicky) gripes are the cockpit on the outrider is a bit too pointy, and Boba’s EE-3 is a Disney variant. But if it means getting an actual visual representation of this awesome story, bring it on!! Boba’s render is indeed beautiful, and it would be super cool *if* at some point through the story, you could show Boba’s change from ESB into ROTJ gear, maybe during the siege of the slave 1 in the asteroid field…??
Not holding out hope for such a trivial thing, but it would be a neat little nod in light of everything else that changed between films

'eh too? Luke didn't have a 'kyber' crystal, that is a Disney term. There was a kaiburr crystal in the EU but not as a lightsaber crystal. He made a synthetic crystal for his lightsaber as he had no natural Ilum or Adegan crystal.
The characters however look great.
You know your lore! Yes in SotE he made a synthetic crystal (I’ll be showing him cooking that 😁) when I said Kaiburr I was referring to the spelling first seen in Splinter of the Minds Eye. Though ‘Kyber’ is only used in TCW and under Disney, I figured the name recognition is easier to understand.

This looks awesome! If you wouldn't mind later in the future, would you be interested in making a short series based on a remake of the Original and Prequel Movies? I've been thinking about doing this for months, but I have a lot of great ideas based on the old rough drafts of each Star Wars movie. The Expanded Universe would also be included. Your content looks amazing, and I can't wait to see the Shadows of the Empire again!
That seems like a big task! Sounds very cool. I’d be interested maybe in doing something like that for “The Star Wars” or the Infinities versions. Seeing infinities ESB Yoda in animation would be nuts!
@starwarsfananimations I'm interested to learn George Lucas' response to that. Hilarious, but kind of what the Yuuzhan Vong do to Coruscant. Not a bad tactic, however. Also, don't forget a young Jedi named Darth Vader. He betrayed and murdered Anakin Skywalker.

They should have been doing Expanded Universe adaptations since 2012, but then they went in the opposite direction of quality so now it’s up to fans!

Hopefully Dark Forces will also be adapted as a fan film!! At this time (March 2024), Star Wars:Dark Forces had been remastered and is available on most consoles (PS4/PS5/ Nintendo Switch, Xbox One X and Xbox Series X/S as well as PC (of course 😅)! Even though I enjoyed Rogue One,I consider Dark Forces cannon.

I know you’re hard at work on this but PLEASE DO DARK EMPIRE AT SOME POINT! Dark Empire is my favorite 90s EU story about the OT characters.
Have you seen the Dark Empire adaptation by SpikeyTortoise?
@@starwarsfananimationsI did, and while I do like them I’d still like to see a faithful 3D adaptation someday. Dark Empire gets a lot of undeserved hate, and the best way to fix that would probably be a 3D adaptation since there’s a weird stigma against 2D animation from mainstream audiences.
Eventually, I would love to adapt all the major EU stories on the channel, including DE (Which I also agree gets a lot of undeserved hate), with consistent 3D models and voices. For now, DE isn't as much of a priority since there's another channel out there adapting it. However, for many of those kinds of big decisions, I'm going to consult patrons on Patreon and put it to a vote. Consider joining my Patreon if you'd like the chance to vote for your favorites!
@@starwarsfananimationsthat’s fair. Honestly as long as Dark Empire and Tales of the Jedi are on the table I’m happy enough to subscribe and watch your progress with great interest. Channels like yours have reignited my love for Star Wars and the pure talent and passion on display has been god tier. I will ask if you plan to work on unreleased stories like Lightsider which bridged the gap between DE 1 and 2? That’s a story that I don’t think any fan film channels are touching for a long while so I thought I’d leave that in this comment.

I have to ask, will you be featuring the Imperial Army Commandos in their green fatigues from the Shadows of the Empire computer game?
Yes! I love those designs! I’ll be adapting all of the material from the novel, game, and comics and basing all designs off of what is seen in those mediums. I’ll also be using artwork found in the 1996 Topps trading cards for SOTE and official concept art for visual inspiration.
Since Disney Star Wars is such a let down. This I think is the way forward dedicated fans recreating awesome legends content.

This is so awesome, when will your Shadows Of The Empire fan film come out?
I'll be releasing it one scene at a time. The first scene coming out is Leia's nightmare from ch1 of the novel. The scene after that is Battle of the Bounty Hunters from the comic issue #1. I hope to get Leia's nightmare done in the next few weeks, aiming for before Christmas if possible. And the next one a month or so after that. The full movie will probably take a long time to finish. At the moment it's just myself and some awesome volunteers, but as the number of patrons and ko-fi investors grows, I'm hoping to: buy great models, upgrade software and PC hardware, and hire and grow the team to accelerate the release schedule

This looks awesome! One note though… I don’t think usage of voice changing AI is really necessary? I won’t judge you for using it, but recasting characters is always okay, especially if you get to show off vocal talents of voice actors.
Thanks you! My main reasons for using voice cloning is that: 1) Recasting has always bothered me in movies because it very much so breaks the suspension of disbelief. Even though it’s only a fan film, I would want it to be as close to the original as possible and this is the best way to achieve that. 2) SOTE is only our first big project. I would like to adapt other EU material in the future. For characters like Xizor, Guri, IG-88 or Zuckuss that have only a few appearances with lines outside of SOTE, I’m going ahead and having all my voice actors record ALL character appearances prior to releasing scenes where they appear in SOTE. That way there’s a 0% chance of recasting in the future. With OT characters like Luke, Leia, Vader, Palpatine etc. they have so many appearances with lines outside of SOTE that it would be virtually impossible to both list and write lines for all that material, and it would take the voice actors far too long to record it all at once. Using voice cloning means I only have to worry about dialogue that these characters have in SOTE and can work on other material they’re in later.
In the end, as long as it looks and sounds good on screen, the final product will be better for it I think. And 11L is really good at voice cloning and real VA’s can record lines, and it output the same rhythm, pitch change, and pacing as the recording, but sound exactly like the voice that’s cloned. 100 different people could record a performance and they all sound exactly like the same Luke Skywalker and no one would ever know!

I’ll be releasing 1 scene at a time as they are finished. The first few scenes will probably be done within the next few months. The final finished movie will probably take a year or more in total. It all partially depends also on how invested fans are on patreon/ko-fi because the more fan’s invest, the time and people can be invested to work on it

Yes! The Executor will make an appearance! I've come across a few different models online that look great that I want to use, but I've been investing the budget into the models that appear in the first few scenes of the story first

Question... is this film going to include the game version too? I know the novel and comic are the main story (obviously), but it be cool showing Dash's solo story as he tries to help Luke and Leia out.
Absolutely! This Adaptation will include all of the material from all 3 versions, as well as other EU material that takes place parallel and integral to this story!

I wouldn’t hold out too much hope for a fan made game remake, there’s been several, but every single one that’s been announced has been hit with a cease and desist order unfortunately…

@@rockerblast819 free original fan games are fine, but remakes I guess are not. The fanmade KOTOR game remake got shut down so they could make their own, though at this point they could have let them make it and bought it themselves which would have been faster than what’s currently happening lol. And my guess with SOTE is that it’s still available on PC so they gather people might not buy the game if they can play a remake for free. Fan films are different bc it’s not like they have plans to make these projects and if they’re non-monetized than what’s there’s no competition. Oddly more is that I can sell 3D models files of Star Wars figures/game pieces and actually make money on them, but if I print it myself and try to sell them suddenly it’s an issue. Copyright law is weird and what’s weirder is how selectively it’s enforced by the rights holders

So no progress. Collecting 3d renders are not progress
All of the turntables and zoom shots are renders I’ve made myself, and many of the models shown in the video are ones that I have now that I didn’t have the last update I put out. The still images are for models that I have on my PC but I just haven’t had time to do renders in motion. Other renders were done by team members. Only a very few of the models shown did I use stock renders of models I’ve purchased.
Since my last Shadows of the Empire Fan Film update I put out I now have:
16 new character models/outfits
9 new sets
4 new creatures/props/droids
2 new ships
2 new team members
1 new cast member
The Opening Crawl finished
Our first scene previsualized
And Launched a Discord, X, TikTok, and Ko-Fi
There are many other models that I have found and downloaded that I haven’t setup in blender or Unreal yet and will include in a later video. That and I’ve made progress on writing the adaptation, and have begun sourcing audio datasets for voice cloning.
This video was intended to show everything we’ve done before and everything new we’ve done since. I hope to get the first scene out this fall, and so far I’m on track for that. I hope you enjoy the upcoming releases! 😁
