AS350 helicopter firefighting
Flying our AS350B2 firefighting on a controlled fire, commonly called "controlled burning". Due to the superhot and dry weather we've been having for almost 2 months, the fire-leader wanted me to use the AS350 and bambibucket to waterbomb the edges of the area he planned to burn.
I did three flights and 50 waterbombingruns on this fire. At one point it was very close to spreading and I probably dropped 25 bamibuckets in the same area to prevent the fire from jumping across the road.
Starting off I had a lot of fuel for waterbombing, it was also +30 degrees and barely any wind! Well it usually is very hot around the fires so that was no surprise. However being out in the middle of nowhere with barely any fuel support can be tough!
The mission was a success and I found it enjoyable that I got to fly so much my memory card became full in the first half of the day...! ;)
