The final season he was shafted by Leicester. The club didn’t back him. But there’s this narrative that ‘he let them down’. They let him down by not giving him the backing to rebuild the squad.
They sold the clubs best CB(fofana) to Chelsea for 80m on the last day of the season. Everyone knew it was coming the entire window but they didn’t buy anyone or spend any money in that window.
Any other manager who didn’t get backing from the club after a successful season would not be getting the blame for the clubs downfall. But it suits his narrative to put the blame on Rodgers.

Rod Stewart is confusing. His father was scottish and supported Hibs. Rod himself was born in North London and see him self as English. He supported Arsenal as a boy. Now his english team is Man United. After a gig in Scotland he met Jock Stein + some Celtic players. Then he became Celtic mad. Oh and he supports Scotland national team..

Scotland's biggest problem is being neighbours to England. If they bordered Finland or Denmark they wouldn't have an inferiority complex but they are constantly measuring themselves against a far bigger country. The Scottish league will never be a major European league. How can it be? The third biggest club in Scotland is Aberdeen (or Hibs or Hearts depending who you ask.) These are small clubs. They're about the same size as Bradford City and Blackpool. You will never sell this to a global audience. it gets dramatically worse after those 3 clubs because we then plummet to the likes of Motherwell, Kilmarnock and Ross County. It'll take the greatest genius in mankind's history to sell those clubs to a global audience.

Man Utd the biggest club in the UK by far haven't been competitive for 10 years, 3rd biggest club Arsenal haven't won the title for 20 years, it took European giants Liverpool 20 years to win the title again and big clubs like Leeds, Villa, Newcastle, Everton and West ham haven't been close for decades. The only way the SPL will improve in terms of interest is to put a spending cap on Celtic & Rangers. The league needs life injecting into it because it's stagnant and festering. It'd be great if Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs won some titles. Leicester won the prem a few years back. That's like Ross County winning the SPL. The gap between the big EPL clubs is far closer than it is between Celtic/Rangers and the rest. I know people talk about man City dominating the prem but this year's title race went down to the wire and when pep goes I reckon the power will shift as it always does in the EPL. If the SPL puts a spending cap on Celtic & Rangers and other clubs start winning, fans of those clubs will turn up because at the moment the ground are half empty. Games will be watchable and it'll generate interest that isn't there at the moment.

Fun fact. In the late 1980s, the Scottish league got as high as 5th in the UEFA coefficients. Alright, English clubs were banned at the time. That’s pretty impressive. And shows what Scottish football could be capable of. Clubs like Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs, and Dundee Utd would be capable of challenging the Old Firm, with some investment. Everyone waxes lyrical about Ryan Reynolds about Wrexham. But Wrexham will hit a glass ceiling should they get up to the Championship. But Scottish clubs are cheaper to buy. And to win the Scottish title, at a club outside the Old Firm, doesn’t need that much money. It would cost an investor less to achieve this. than to get someone like Wrexham up to the Premier League from the lower English leagues. Plus you have easier access to European competition. The TV money is low at present, but raise the profile of the league, and that will sort itself out. It will always be in the shadow of the league down south, because they have ten times the population. Even if the big money left English football, it will still have massive advantages. That said, Scottish football is not as destined to perennial mediocrity, as some make out. It still occasionally shows it can punch above its weight. And with the current state of politics out in Eastern Europe, football isn’t the priority in these countries, leaving secondary West European leagues to fill the void.
