  • The Journal of the American Chemical Society presents interviews with accomplished scientists in chemistry.
In this interview, Editor-in-Chief Professor Erick Carreira speaks with Professor Lia Addadi of the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel. Professor Addadi leads a research group working on research projects related to the formation of crystals and other aggregated phases deposited in organisms, either fulfilling a physiological function, or pathologically induced. The group also studies the interactions and cross talk between the crystals and the biological environment, spanning several orders of magnitude from the molecular level to the cell and tissue level.
Watch the video to learn about Professor Addadi’s career, how she fell in love with the beauty and complexity of biomineralization and became a pioneer, and her journey to the Weizmann Institute of Science. Find out more about who she considers to be her heroes and mentors in chemistry, the secrets to Professor Addadi’s success as a mentor, and how she feels science can be used as a world language to bring people together.
