Someone's been playing too much modded. In 1.4 they made it a unicorn drop instead, though with higher rates.
Or maybe he just didn't know, the wiki still says it drops from other ones until you go to the history section.
Also modded does not automatically mean 1.3.

On the tModLoader version, it is dropped by any Hallowed enemy with a 1/200 (0.5%) / 1/150 (0.67%) chance."

True, but a statement that only applies to 1.3 does likely mean modded, and Bungee has a history of making modded content, so it's an easy deduction to make.

tModLoader 1.4 is still very much in beta, and none of the big mods have moved to it yet. The developers themselves have mentioned how it's unstable for now and it will break mods with every update.
Hence - if you see a unicorn statue, grab it. Even though item drops are nerfed for enemies spawned by statues, it's still much quicker to obtain unicorn horns and the blessed apple by hooking a timer to the statue rather than waiting for them to spawn naturally in the hallow.
The Queen Slime-Mount is actually pretty good. It can even help you dodge the Moon Lord‘s laser better than some movement accessories if you time it right.

Honestly.. slime mount and blessed apple is the only mount i use. Prehardmode being the slime mount, and the blessed apple for hardmode fights etc

The way I see mounts is this, when you're willing to throw away all conventional/convenient movement for ludicrous amounts of damage. TLDR, when you're pissed.
All those master mode enemies need to experience taking more damage themselves
actually I did this once (but slightly different)
I was pissed from dying to pumpkin moon in mmftw, so I ditched all my mobility and went full tank, flying around on the fishron mount being virtually unkillable.
Went from dying in two hits to surviving 10+ hits and actually clearing the final wave for once.
the minibosses still do stupid amounts of damage at low health though, beware.
I used queen slime mount over king slime just to prevent fall damage that still exists for some reason even if you have wings
The extra fall speed was really handy for daytime empress
The queen slime mount is also very fast and really the only movement needed for a mage
Does fall damage actually still get applied if you have wings with the Slimy Saddle? I haven't gotten to Hardmode yet, but the Fledgeling Wings have negated even hellevator-tier fall damage for me while mounted on a slime. Are they an exception?
(On paper, I do agree with you on using Gelatinous Pillion over Slimy Saddle, though. They both fall at the same speed, don't they? Why not take the free mobility boost and fall damage immunity?)

I remember doing it a few times in one playthrough and dying to fall damage with wings on the king slime mount
I did that once and never again so they may have changed it
(And yeah queen slime mount is a direct upgrade to king slime mount)
Edit: I checked, you don't take fall damage anymore if you have wings
as a slimy saddle enjoyer, having wings or a horseshoe does prevent fall damage while on the slime

The one, single problem for me that deters me from using mounts is the lack of a dash. A lot of mounts have absurd top speeds, great movement options, and insane damage, but that's all thrown out the window when they take five seconds to reverse direction and in that time I've been hit with a barrage of attacks that could have been avoided by a quick dash to juke them.

Mounts like the broom and the shrimpy truffle (with a water arena) are fast enough that you can just fly around in circles avoiding most attacks, but the best way to substitute for a dash while mounted is using a rod of discord.
I don't really like using an accessory slot for an item that gives me an ability that I barely know how to use, so Queen Slime's mount is amazing for me
thats my why favorite mount is the unicorn! ive used it in flight before to extend my dashes. good against the twins! it makes my dashes basically really long if i dash and then enter the mount, it immediately goes into max acceleration of the mount. and then i can unmount, and dash, and remount. its really simple, its just dashing into a mount and its reallllyyy helpful. unicorn is great for dashing, but yea like

@@Junistheog Queen slime mount allows you to replace every single movement accessory with damage accessories while still being able to effectively dodge every boss attack in the game. Its high rate of vertical acceleration combined with fast horizontal movement and built in flight makes it the best choice against a lot of bosses for dodging attacks (daytime EoL for example) because you have the same movement capabilities as a full dodge accessory loadout, but with higher damage output.
Saying slime mount is better than queen slime mount just because it's easier to get is like saying the copper shortsword is better than the terra blade because it's easier to get.
@@-Keith- I like the king mount and queen mount but the issue with king slime mount is that it won't allow you to move fast horizontal but it could make allow you to jump out of the way of things in which the queen slime mount is much better because it allows you to move horizontal fast if you are flying or fall down
I really wished that people would talk about the “Lilith Necklace” mount. It’s really good if you need to get somewhere fast.

and if you (for some reason) dont like the wolf you can get a texture pack that turns the wolf into a bee similar to one from the honeyed goggles

Queen slime mount also accelerates fast. No waiting for boots to pick up speed. But the top speed is kinda low, so a dash accessory pairs very well with it
Appreciate the shout out towards mounts that help you "dash downward", those kind of things are life savers especially during EoL and even daytime! basically carries the fight
In my daytime EOL fight video you can see how the queen slime mount can save you.
I always use the Witch's broom during that fight. Plenty fast and opens a ton of slots for more DPS

Celestial starboard & soaring insignia flies faster than the fastest running mount runs & is so fast that dashing is slower than not dashing unless you're turning around.
6:43 - Theses 2 mounts doesn't get their damage boosted with summoner or ranger armor, but using acessories and armor that increase the crit chance will affect on the mount
as well.
I tested with mounts that does contact damage, and it doesn't cause crit.

3:26 ironically, the best defensive items are the movement accessories you just ditched. The best way to mitigate damage is not getting hit in the first place, and the fast acceleration of the wings and a dash is miles better than the more steady movement of mounts in that regard. Especially for something like master mode

It's a shame that they nerfed mounts to not stack mobility buffs from accessories, they kept the double jump capability but you used to be able to make them much more mobile with accessories.

The basilisk's ram attack was actually essential to an early strategy to beat Plantera, its speed and hit invulnerability was just enough so that I could keep looping around Plantera and let the minions and whip do their job(of course I had platforms on the appropriate height)
You forgot to mention that the queen slime mount has all the benefits of the normal slime mount as well as flight.

Queen slime mount actually pair up extremely well with wings, if you mount the slime while flying up, you will get a really vertical and horizontal boost
I’ve actually had a lot of success using Blessed Apple/Goat Skull on and off like you recommended with the Slime mount. If you dash and use your mount quickly, you will go to top speed immediately, and with a good arena, you can use it to gain distance or as a panic option against some bosses. I find it especially helpful against Skeletron Prime.

8:00 the queen slime mount also has that same falling speed, coupled with the other advantages of the queen slime mount.
There's also this weird possible glitchy behavior where activating it while ascending with your wings (IIRC) causes you to gain absurd upwards speed
Infinite flight mounts are also very useful for construction, it's nice to just stay perfectly still in the air indefinitely while building.
And they can help with bosses, as it’s one of the only ways to fully stall yourself in the air.
Especially good against Deerclops since you can just hover above her attack range and proceed to rip her apart.
Small detail, the lava shark also has a bug where you only take 1 fall damage no matter how far you fall

Honestly, queen slime mount makes everything so much easier. It has enough speed so you can get away from some fast bosses so they aren't right on top of you (Like the twins mostly). And even without using it all the time you can still use it for quick downward (like you pointed out in the vid) and upward acceleration if you use it at the right time. Probably the best movement item in the game.
Best mount in the game for boss killing. Sure you can't horizontal dash, but you can just adjust your tactics to rely more on vertical dodging rather than horizontal. The only way you get anywhere near the same level of mobility of this mount is with an entire accessory loadout dedicated to just movement. And if you go that route, you don't get to load up 100% on damage accessories.
@@-Keith- I actually found I prefer using dash, insignia, and empress wings over pillon. But those are all post plantera accessories, and pillon still has a use even with all that stuff.
You are right, especially combined with feather falling potion, i never use wings or boots against mech bosses (and plantera) just queen slime mount is enough. In every difficulty
@@thin_and_runny I only ever use pillon on mechs as well, but I'm too lazy to get damage accessories to replace them with. I also never really make that big of an arena for plantera, so I prefer wings.

Mounts are fun, but the fact that they remove all your other movement options really cuts into their usability. It's not a big deal in Pre-hardmode since the most you'll get are hooks, double jump, rocket boots and those weak ass wings and the shield of Cthulhu. But in Hardmode not being able to stay above a horde of enemies is practically a death sentence when fighting any event.

@@DarkDragon1223 yeah the pre nerf black spot, especially when paired with a shield of cthulu or tabi, you could dash into mount and immediately be at 71 kmh (practically twice as fast as the topspeed of the UFO mount) and it was even better then the UFO because its faster and could be obtained from the very start of hardmode. this mount is the sole reason that I actually found master mode terraria bosses EASIER then expert mode ones, because of the access to this single mount. It provided me amazing utility that I even defeated the moon lord with.
Mounts doing summon damage interests me. Does that mean mounts could unofficially count as a summon? That means there are essentially 12 possible minions you can have to stack with your damage...
I think it's 13 (counting the stardust armor minion)

I feel like the reindeer mount from the frost moon is a good combo of the unicorn and the pigron mount, feel like you should of talked about it
its basically wings without an accessory slot, sorta like bee mount or the wing slot mod
Fun fact: it was actually the first mount implemented (if I remember correctly from playing 1.2)
I always use my mount as my mobility tool, and put damage buff accessories where my mobility ones would go for boss fights and whatnot.

I love mounts. The bee used to save me during skeletron when I was bad. The slime was great for cuthulu and brain too. Witches broom is amazing for an extra accessory

I really like the queen slime mount for the destroyer since you can use it to bounce off the segments and deal damage while avoiding accidental contact with his body/head

I personally use the Witches Broom. It has quick movement, you can still go through a 1x3 block gap, you can shoot from it, it’s rideable in water, it looks awesome, you can pair it up with the unlucky yarn for Halloween, and so much more,
bruh this man took 4 months to make a 9 minute long video(and I still love this man)
One time i accidentally KO'd Eater of Worlds with my Slime Mount underground by jumping at JUST the right time for my mount to continuously do damage as it rammed into me.
It shredded though that worm like butter and i was left completely unscathed! Me and my dad couldn't believe what we were seeing.
honestly, if you can swap quick from like horse/unicorn/goat you can easily take away running boots, run with those, stop and start flying dash and stuff and summon the mount again

UFO helped me beat moon lord finally on the 15th this month, but that Pigron is fast yeah, but it’s so slow moving upwards or moving down
I haven’t been the biggest mount user so far but I’ve used them to an extent since they were added, I usually use the blue slime mount throughout the game from the start as it’s really fun to goomba-stomp stuff, and it has incredible falling speed, I always keep one on me and enable it when I go down my hellevator. I also typically use the flying slime once I get it but I find it difficult to control sometimes, so usually I end up waiting until I can get a better mount like the UFO or Witch’s Broom, and on my latest expert run I’ve been using the Cute Fishron because I have honey in my arena for regen and the Fishron speeds up when I run through it. I wish the UFO and Broom were faster as they’re so slow that I usually stick to wings, but they’re useful enough that I usually keep one and a blue slime with me for utility.
*EDIT:* I would love to use the unicorn and basilisk more but I find them so hard to use, every step and bit of terrain stops me in my tracks, and they’re a pain to stop. Plus the lack of a dash is annoying. The slime is also incredible for height, if you have a combo of multiple double jumps and balloons you can bounce yourself to the moon with a few taps of the space bar and good timing.
What I usually do is just slap on wings, boots, soaring insignia, a class-specific accessory and the worm scarf, along with a flying mount. Also the honeyed goggles are WAY underrated. They're like pre-hardmode wings that you probably get before fledgling wings, AND it's a mount which frees up slots for other stuff. Hardmode tho wings are way better

The flamingo is actually amazing for traveling from side to side of the world all of prehardemode and even more than that.
In 1.2 there was a glitch with mounts that when you were flying you could exit the mount and go back on it and i used to abuse it so much with the bee mount
For my money in terms of practicality my favorites are winged slime and pogo stick (incredible for snappy movement that changes your vertical moment on a dime crazy good for some bosses)

The fire goat mount from Master Mode WoF is simply incredible. Paired up with Featherfalling it‘s great for traveling, and at that point you don‘t even need the unicorn or Basilisk anymore
