Great Video! What actually made a huge difference for me was my guitar teacher told me how to pick with the finger: use a little bit of the tip and a little bit of your nail to match the pick sound

I've been using the lessons for a little over 2 years and while I haven't improved as much as I'd like, I clearly know what I need to work on, how to work on it, and how to make music in the mean time. Ben's lessons and focus on etudes makes learning fun and the journey is rewarding.

I have been playing guitar for 40 years and have never mastered my picking hand. Do you have a video on how to practice picking both ways?? My main problem is for the most part I only pick down and use pull offs but I am sooo limited I need to learn better picking. Please advise!! Thank you

Yeah you could. I would replace the hybrid plucks with upstrokes. But it sounds like this is a good opportunity for you to tackle this technique, so go for it!

It sounds a lot like Jimmy Page's iconic, ultra-fluid descending riff from "Good Times, Bad Times!"
That descending riff made me want to play guitar back in 1984. Jimmy Pages influence is everywhere and always will be.
@@70mcnevin The Beatles inspired me to ask Santa for a guitar in 1964, at age 11! I saw Led Zeppelin twice, in Denver in 1968 and 1972. My friends and I attended a Vanilla Fudge concert in 1968. Led Zeppelin was the opening act. Barry Fay, the concert promoter, didn't want them, because he didn't want to pay their $1,200 dollar fee. Vanilla Fudge's manager agreed to pay it. Zeppelin always started their US tours in Denver after that!
