- The Marysville School District (MSD) just narrowly made the Wednesday deadline to release a new plan addressing its budget shortfall. This comes amid a decline in revenue due to two failed levies and a drop in enrollment.
The district is in binding conditions with the state because it was not able to submit a balanced budget for this school year as expenditures exceeded revenues. As KOMO News has reported, that deficit was originally estimated around nearly $18 million in August 2023 when the district initially entered Binding Conditions with the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).
