LYRICS:
My life is a constant entrapment of tunnels
Which tangle and wind and beguile
And regardless of where I may tumble or funnel
I wonder what’s really worthwhile
Sometimes it can seem like a merciless dream
And I’m falling with nothing to hold
Sometimes I get flustered and beaten and blistered
Abandoned outside in the cold
CHORUS
But I’m gonna win, I’m gonna try
I’ll never lose, I’ll never die
You’ve seen me before, you’ll see me again
I’ll never give up, I’ll never give in
Til I’m bloody and bruised
Til I’ve broken my bones
Til I won’t be abused
Til I’m laughing alone
It’s hard to be charming and smart and disarming
It’s hard to pretend you’re the best
It’s hard to fulfill everyone’s expectations
It’s hard to keep up with the rest
CHORUS
How do you feel?
You’ve been concealing your worries from the world
But you can reveal them to me
I wouldn’t know
I go on even though
I’ll be bloody and bruised
I’ll be breaking my bones
I’ll be paying my dues
I’ll be laughing alone - Hudba
I think the most obvious difference between Rob's version and Tally Hall's can be seen just in the title. Rob's version is in all caps, it doesn't leave room for him to fail, he IS going to win

this kind of feels like a villainous reprise to "all of my friends"
Lol yeah it does 🤣. It was actually more of a draft to all my friends.
Hehehehe yeah, I guess it is.😅
I think of it as kind of a light and dark reprise - the POV character is the same in my mind - they've left the friends that weren't helpful at all and not offering any real advice that could help, and while they're alone (and they probably don't want to be), they are definitely better off than in All of My Friends

everybody saying this sounds like an anti-hero or villain song, but tbh it feels more like a "life sucks and i feel like the universe has it in for me, but *fuck you* universe i'm gonna keep going out of spite." song
Stop describing me
Of course, saying “FUCK YOU UNIVERSE!!” would elevate any character archetype; especially the anti-heros and villains.
nah its a villain song
fr
Alright, officially naming that type of song the "fuck you, universe" category
i feel like people miss that the previous songs' lyrics are actually more self-defeatist and sad than this song. This song is about how despite everything in life pushing you down you'll succeed, even out of spite. But in the previous songs the lyrics imply that all of their friends help them get through the hard times but they *literally don't have any friends and they're all in his head*. There isn't a support structure, and by the end of the song it's more like they're in denial. this is the more happy one than the previous, but the tone is way different which makes it seem more evil and cruel.
i thought the same thing
theres a tally hall performance of im gonna win, i actually kinda prefer it over this one personally
all of my friends is about a man who thinks that it's ok to supress the things going on in your head, and he tries to convince himself that everything will be fine if he does. and as the song goes on, he gets driven further and further into madness. until near the end when his "friends" offer help to him, and he realises that they were never real, and he completely breaks down
Bro just put my thoughts into words. I'm Gonna Win is positive, about someone who, dispite his hardships, fights through them while trying to come out on top. The problem comes from the way Cantor arranged the song, which makes it sound like it's being sung by a psychopath who's already lost everything years ago and only half-realizes it, thus creating a public perception of it being a villain song despite, from a lyrical perspective, being quite the opposite. If anything, All of my Friends is the villain origin song and I'm Gonna Win is the hero's song. I honestly love Rob's work both inside and outside of Tally Hall, but I personally think he messed up here (all the more odd considering it was originally Joe's song).
@@estebsonall of my friends isn’t a villain origin story
It’s about a schizophrenic person who kill’s himself
It's strange how people in the comments are like "wow this is different from the tally hall version" without realizing that there is a tally hall version of nearly these exact lyrics. Rob didn't change these lyrics drastically, these are just the latest revision. I'm in love with this version's intense tone, almost makes me wish this was done with the rest of the band, but that's just a dream
ye tally hall had to change it rob didn't do it solo
Yeah, but the lyrics was fundamentally changed in its lyrics, specifically its chorus.
@@alecxander9573 Do you mean all of my friends or the tally hall version of I'm gonna win

It was even Joe who wrote this. Rob recorded the lyrics Joe wrote years ago (with permission, of course)

It's a sad thing indeed, I actually came here to find the original song since a flipnote made me come here, I didn't really care about the animation, I just wanted to hear the song, I insterd of this one first, it's a good song, both of them are, tally hall and rob cantor are the best. :3

Hey, you have to admit, being remembered for basically roasting Shia LaBeouf is still pretty good, but I agree, sorta
Tally Hall version: It'll be fine, don't worry about it, you'll make it through
Rob Cantor version: *I CAN'T FUCKING TAKE IT ANYMORE*
I think it's kind of the opposite. 'All of my Friends' is about a schizophrenic man going mad but still trying to live normally. While 'I'm Gonna Win' probably is about determination and trying to better yourself no matter the hardship

BREAKING NEWS: Singer/Songwriter Rob Cantor is suing Singer/Songwriter Rob Cantor because of Cantor taking the melody from Cantor’s band’s song ‘All of My Friends’ in order for Cantor to create his song ‘I’m Gonna Win.’ Not only did Cantor steal this song, but Cantor also gave no credit to Cantor and his band, and then sold it as his own. Am I the only one who noticed how tragic are the differences between the lyrics of the old tally hall's version of this song, and rob's new one?
It seems like once it was about how your friends are there for you, and are helping you on hard times, and rob's one is a bitter and hateful version of the same song, about fighting alone with no one on your side.
We love you rob, whatever it is that happened to you ),:
I see the old version as his friends (while they mean well) dismissing his feelings and experiences with mental illness, while "I'm gonna win" is a realization that only he can change himself and fight to be the person he wants to be by taking charge of his life.

This song is perfect to listen to when you are in a really bad mood, like the mood when your day is already a trainwreck dumpster fire drinking arsenic and it's only 7 AM. It has the perfect elements to fuel and subside your anger with some hatred and "I see no god other than me"

Thanks for introducing me to Tally Hall, internet. I recently watched the Ultimate Tally Hall documentary, which let me see their journeys through time, and all of their side projects.
I knew these 2 existed and didn't think this connected
honestly, while i do agree with interpretations revolving "succeeding against all odds out of spite", i feel like the softer parts of the song go unnoticed by folks. the melody before the choruses sound so encouraging and gentle. lines such as "you've been concealing your worries from the world; but you can reveal them to me" sound like despite the hardships the protag of the song has gone through, he's using his grit and determination to support and help those he cares about. he isn't JUST surviving out of spite against the universe, he's surviving to help his loved ones no matter what life throws at him. it's sweet, really
And it all comes back to you... from listening and watching shia labeouf years and years ago. to now watching the show Startup... you sir, YOU ARE AMAZING!!

Like AOMF was about a dude dealing with 'demons' who kept putting him down and giving him false security, making him anxious and paranoid
While IGW takes place a few years later when he's overcame his demons, because he's won. He's not gonna let the demons back even when they try to call him back with the same exact words (how do you feel, you've been concealing your worries from the world appears in both songs)
'demons' could be replaced with depression, toxic friends, toxic relationships, ect. Just a fun little thing I thought of
