Dont worry about editing your videos. Just keep telling your story, man. We're listening. I dont know what its like to have a drinking problem, but i do know what its like to light a cigarette with another cigarette, one after another. I would wake up and cough up blood, constant lung infections. Just like you ive been taking it one day at a time now for nearly a year. Man you hit home. Id be in the bathroom late night using a cough to hide the sound of a lighter spark. I cried so many nights thinking i wouldnt be around for my 3 year old daughter (now) because of my horrible health. You're doing gods work with these videos brother!

Coughing up blood man? Goddamn have you been screened by a doctor? That's a sign of lung cancer and other serious diseases that don't just go away usually! I don't want to scare you but if you haven't the earlier you can figure it out the better your chances.
Even the heaviest smokers I've never heard of them waking up in the middle of the night coughing up blood.. That's usually reserved for someone who's developed something from their smoking... Either way, how many packs a day were you smoking?

This is the life of my own son for many, many years. Loss of jobs, girlfriend’s a DUI. I spent all those years of his addiction sobering him up, getting him help, phone calls throughout day and night from him drunk, a constant worry of when my phone would ring and it wouldn’t be him but someone telling me he was dead. The doctors told me it was just a matter of time for that phone call to come. Years of hospitals, recovery which never helped and a cycle that repeated every 11-13 days for years on end. He finally sobered up about 6 years ago and now is a father to a little girl who is about to be 3. I still panic every time my phone rings, I still don’t sleep well and it’s always in the back of my mind what will trigger him to start again. It not only affected him but it sucked the life out of me, physically, mentally and emotionally, I will never be the same. So much of what you did was exactly what he did. So happy he made it out without too many health problems and so sad that you have so many ): Thank you for sharing your story I definitely got a insight on how much worse things could be health wise for him had he not finally quit. I hope everything turns around for you and your health improves. xx

im coming up on 3 yrs no alcohol & your story is helpful becuz it's a reminder how much of a job it is just keeping up with an alcohol addiction, being able to function enuff to get by & the constant effort to keep up some semblance of appearances, withdrawals, DTs, it's such hell, it really is, & no matter how easy some people might make it look, if they are headed in that direction of addiction, where it goes is never easy, fraught with dread, shame & hopelessness.
we are blessed if we are given the chance to climb out of that pit while we still have the strength!

Im a 65 year old woman that was diagnosed with Nash related cirroris in 2014 . I had 2 different doctors opions on that. I did drink for 15 - 20 years , but only weekends, just to enjoy relax with family or friends. I stop drinking in 2014 same year i was diagnosed . I never got sick or anything, it was only found through blood work , and they seen my liver was stressed, so then more tests and went from there. Both doctors agreed mine was mostly from gaing much weight , alot of over counter meds , but the drinking on weekends didnt help , plus i was pre diabetic , runs in my family. Alot of fat in and around liver, which i knew nothing about at the time, it becomes inflamation, then the real stuff begins. Thank you for sharing your story. Wine was what I started off with and I didn’t want my husband seeing how many bottles of wine were missing, so I bought a big box of wine and drink so much of that that I would have to fill a big plastic baggie with water so he couldn’t tell how much wine was missing from the box. I started chasing the morning hangover with more wine until I had to drink just to stop the shakes.

Thank you so much for sharing your story man. I'm really struggling right now. Somehow I've managed to stick with light beer, but it's getting to where I have been drinking 15 to 30 a night. I'm 43 and I've always been big into athletics and working out, but for the first time I'm having trouble keeping up with everything. I'm scared to death to go to the Dr cause I'm sure I'll have liver problems and probably high sugar etc. Makes me feel disgusted and shameful every day, but the only thing that takes the anxiety away is more beer. You give me hope maybe there is a way out.

Go to the doctor and see if there are any problems there may not be yet. If there is the problem is going to be there regardless not going to the doctor isn’t going to change it. If you have a problem you can get to treating it earlier, and also most importantly it will give you much more will to stop drinking.

I started drinking when I was 14 we stole a crate from behind the local pub and I can still remember thinking this is going to be a problem! When I turned 20-21 started drinking bottles of Jack denials every evening out the freezer. Only ever stopped when I was doing prison sentences. Now 43 and messed up my body I've got fatty liver that was 5 years ago I'm to scared to find out what it's like now. When I binge drink my skin turns yellow take days to look myself again! My kidneys are leaking urine on my last urine sample. Got a torn asofacas from dry vomiting. Gout in my ankles. Trying hard to lay off it (I'm kidding myself with moderation)!! Found your videos a couple of days ago. Sounds bad but I'm watching them to try and scare myself into sorting myself out. Never think your hurting yourself at the time. When you mentioned opening a can and trying to cough or flush the toilet to mask the noise, that was me every damn morning. Then like you, vodka was more effective and I could hide it in water or Gatorade bottles. I thought I was fooling everyone but it all caught up with me. Damn man, puking every morning is brutal. I had the fortune/misfortune of never really getting hangovers unless I really consumed a whole lot the night before. So I never really got "punished" per se for my usage until other symptoms arose like I couldn't drive the screws into the drywall I was putting up because my hands were shaking too much. And I never drank at work because I always found it a burden and never felt good having even a buzz at work, no matter the substance. Either way I'm coming up on 8 years of being sober from alcohol, and luckily my organs have all recovered and my liver is in great condition.

I did in the beginning, but they slowly went away. I've been around people drinking and couldn't stay, I got really annoyed and had to go. I don't know why, maybe I was jealous. Beer to whiskey to vodka. It got rough. Your story mirrors mine. Marijuana isn’t the gateway drug it’s alcohol. I got so good at hiding that I could hide booze in plain sight. When I lived in Pensacola, Fla. My car blew up and biked for getting around. Told countless others that you can get a DUI on a bike. Nobody believed me. One emotional night, drunk and upset and tried to get home via bike. Too drunk to ride and while walking it home, stepped into a huge pot hole and broke my ankle. You’ve heard the expression, drunk as a bicycle! The essence of my story is….. Don’t attempt ANYTHING under the influence! You can dig yourself out of this situation. Might be the best thing that could have happened if you can change your life. I drank because I had a problem, and then had a problem because I drank. I am rooting for you. One foot in front of the other! Hope you find a job soon! Blessings

The last couple of years I would have a bottle of vodka next to me on the floor by the couch where I slept. I didn't even sleep in bed. I was single, so any time I woke up, I would take a swig or two to pass out again. Working from home didn't help things as I drank 24/7. Suicidal. Kept the window shades drawn because I hated the light. Loved being in the dark. I too had heart burn any time I took a swig. I hated that the most. I was hung over constantly (obviously). That sucked. I still have liver disease which caused other complications. I have been alcohol free for a couple of years, but the health toll it took I am still suffering. When you learn "the hair of the dog" trick, that is when you get into the alcoholic loop. I have seen one friend die of liver and other organ failure. It is the absolute worst drug on Earth because it takes so long to sneak up on you until you are firmly in its grips. I wish I could tell you to never get addicted, but no one listens. It won't happen to me. I used to say that I hoped I never became an alcoholic because I enjoyed alcohol so much. Well I did.
