    I have had the Luci solar lights for at least 10 years and use them all the time. Love them for camping and if you turn the light upward, it really lights up the room.

    The grade of cables you use make a huge difference. I use Anker USB and lightning cables vs shitty gas station cables. They flow twice as much power on a USB voltmeter like you showed, and the ankers are only a couple bucks more. I have 2 of the original luci lanterns ( great!), but will definitely get a pro or two after seeing this. Thanks Walker!

      True. I test my cables with the USB detector. Some were total lemons. Thanks for watching!

    Hey mega: Been using a Luci light for 6 years of long term camping. Light & always reliable. Got one for each of my grand kids. Don't leave home without one. Thanks Brian 77

    Its useful in various situations such as emergency at outdoor, light, portable, so it will help us! We can’t expect what will do in a day, without socket and full charge easily by solar is effective!! I decided to get it!! Thank you your review.

    I got the usb one online for cheap and love it. I’ve been trying to find ways to save money on electricity. I just use a little anyway and want to buy more. I’m glad I’m not the only one tho on the solar part. It takes forever to charge via solar but still worth it if you only use it on the lowest setting.

    We use LUCI's in the pool. Put some water in the inflation chamber (more than offset the panel and led/battery unit). Then just let them float around. Or just clip a weight to the bottom handle....I agree with comments below - use quality cables. For camping lantern mode, we charge an Anker pack, and then charge the LUCI off of that. Great little things

    Nice review helped me out. Now i feel better about my purchase. did use the "handles as "hangers" just ran some cord from one tree to an other. Also make a nice guide lantern hanging off of a Pack when we went hiking in in the dark.

      I got mine at REI. I have multiple Luci lights and like them. I did buy a LuminAID with the same features but returned it. They screwed with the pinch valve to make it easier to inflate but that also made it harder to keep inflated when closing the valve. Also the PWM was really visible. Sure the Luci also uses PWM but the frequency of the LuminAID seemed lower and more visible aka flicker just on the edge of perception. Also it was too big for doing the exact same thing. Get the Luci IMHO.

    I did a video on my channel about this solar lantern. It really works great, except for the power bank doesn't work at all. I have tried charging my Samsung phone multiple times with the luci pro being fully charged. It was at 52% battery on my phone, and at 61% or less the luci pro was dead battery. I like the lantern, but the power bank doesn't work at all on mine. Maybe I should send it back.

    My luci pro does not work as a power bank AT ALL!!! It works freaking awesome as a solar lantern, but the power bank doesn't work. I plugged my phone in at 43% and at 48% the luci pro was dead. And I tried this multiple times.

    I have one and I put it in my car on the dashboard. Don't do it. It was too hot. And my luci almost exploded because of expansion of the heat now it's kinda curved on the bottom and doesn't lay flat anymore.

      They sell the original standard light this is the Lucy 2.0 pro virgin the one you buy at Walmart has a max level a brightness 50 lumens this one has a max level of 150 lumens plus they can recharge things the original cannot recharge anyting and the original cannot be charged and anyway except for solar this can be charged by electrical plug like a phone adapter before you even go out and on low this one will burn at 50 lumens for 50 hours the original will only burn for about one night and maybe another hour or two into the day and I did I have both of them the original and the new 2.0 pro Lucy with the charging port and let me tell you from experience I spent six months on the river traveling down to the gulf of Mexico by canoe and and this one the 2.0 pro with a USB solar charger really kicks ass no one should be without one and they'll hold a charge what do you use it or not right at a month they are super worth the money

    I bought the mpowerd luci light at Target. So far, I hate it.
    It came with no instructions.
    May I ask you some questions--after you plug in the usb cable to the light, and plug in the micro usb to your phone, do you press the lightening bolt power button on the light?
    I have tried pressing it, then pressing it again.
    I only lose power from my phone. It went from 14% to 6% in minutes.
    Help, please.

    • @SartorialWin

    • @emdee7744
      @emdee7744 Před 4 lety

      @@SartorialWin Yes. I'm using the brand name cable that came with the phone. The light is fully charged and I plug in the phone for 4 hours and it still reads as zero battery on the phone. I feel completely ripped off by the light device.

    Erm, isn't there a fatal flaw? You need light in the fckn dark? I.e. no sun? So you hang them off ur rucksack all day? Only half serious

    • @MegaWoodswalker
      @MegaWoodswalker  Před 6 lety +3

      No. The Pro model overcomes this issue by being USB changeable. At 12:02 I go into the entire topic and the light is actually running and charging at the same time in the dark. It was intentional on my part. That said with the standard 2.0 if the battery runs down and it's dark.... LOL! SOL! Thanks for watching!

    • @astrazenica7783
      @astrazenica7783 Před 6 lety +1

      MegaWoodswalker thanks I get it. Cheap technology today the question becomes, why not stick a solar panel on it. And as you say, for emergencies kinda useful. Wonder how they get on in cold weather. Any thanks for ur vids

    • @MegaWoodswalker
      @MegaWoodswalker  Před 6 lety +1

      The lowest I tried was around 20F. I am thinking more of a prepper item than pure BOB but that's just my feeling. I used the Luci lights for a 3 day power outage this winter. I purchased the smaller ER one and will test that as well. Thanks again for watching!
