    For those running into a write problem, you need to add this script before you can edit the file (In putty)
    mount -o remount, rw /boot
    This will give you read/write access in the boot menu. You can then use the method above to edit the file or use WinSCP and make the edit there. I ran into this on recalbox6.1.1 while changing the splash screen video duration

    I don't understand why mine won't work. I can preview it with the preview option but on startup it defaults to still images even after ensuring that omx player is turned on. Followed the instructions exactly and as I said it previews fine so I'm assuming the format is not the issue. Heck I put it in my snaps folder (since I have no other snaps atm) and it showed up as a "random" video screensaver. What could I possibly be forgetting?

  • @DeepFriedLettuce
    @DeepFriedLettuce Před 7 lety

    I've been having the same splashscreens for a few months now, but lately (within the last two weeks) my splash screens will blackout for a couple seconds and then play the last few seconds of the MP4. The files are small since they're only in 480p (originally they were in 1080p)
    I've played the same splashscreens on my comp by accessing the splashscreen folder on my pie and it plays perfectly so I know it isn't the files.
    I've also updated retropie to the last version since this issue started.
    Has anyone else had this issue? If so, any suggestions on how to resolve it?

    • @DeepFriedLettuce
      @DeepFriedLettuce Před 7 lety

      I found a few forum posts suggesting that this is a known issue since Retropie 4.2.1. As of 4.2.3, it hasn't been resolved. Hoping that this is fixed soon. Kind of diminishes the "WOW" factor when you show it off for the first time. PX

    • @DeepFriedLettuce
      @DeepFriedLettuce Před 7 lety +1

      Was able to resolve this issue by disabling Overscan.
      1. See black bars around edges of screen and hate them
      2. Select RetroPie to get to configuration options
      3. Launch RASPI-CONFIG
      4. Select 7 Advanced Options
      5. Select A1 Overscan
      6. Select No for enable overscan
      7. Select OK
      8. Select Finish
      9. Select Yes for Reboot now

      I think You’d have to recompile emulationstation removing it... it could really be a hassle... on the other hand, I think the Gameboyzero splashscreen plays over the emulation station so you don’t actually see the emulationstation but the video instead... perhaps making a custom video of the same length could hide it as well.
