I think “helmeted” characters would do much better in this format - Vader, Fett, etc. and it could actually be a really cool line if done properly. I think the armor would make it easier to add some limited pose ability as well (i kind of figured the fur makes it hard).
Or they could do droids like battle droids and astromechs

Disagree. Some of these helmets are a little wonky as it is due to the scale, so scaling them down even more would result in some extremely derpy looking statues. It’s a case by case basis imo

Dark brown pieces are always hard to read in the instructions, because the lines are in black and blend in.
this is why lego shouldnt make a Set Like that
they take measures to improve it now by highlighting the connections of new pieces on each step. I'm also sure there are a lot of different colored pieces on the inside and it's all built in chunks.
For $200, I assume everyone would rather have the recent R2D2.
Or just save your money

It's an absolute travesty that this set doesn't have cake like the model at Disney springs. If this Chewbacca was double cheeked/caked up it'd be worth $200

Well considering everyone seems to bitch and moan when Lego releases a set “everyone” asks for anyway, I don’t blame them. Besides, I love this set, so there is a market for fans that love giant display models of sets/characters from the franchise.

It’s the printed eyes for me, I think a white tile shaped by plates into eyes would have been better but who knows it might look even more haunting.
The tiles are fine. The issue is how far in-set those eyes are. If they were about a plate thickness further out the eyes would look great

$200 USD is mad, that means in New Zealand we could pay up to $400NZD which is nuts.
i would love to see a remake of the grevious in this scale, and also other characters, like Vader or a clone/stormtrooper
I just think if they really had their hearts set on doing this, they should have doubled down on the detail route and just done a bust, would have fitted better with the helmets and black panther set aswell as all the other buildables like Yoda and Grogu.

Great review! I don't mind the head too much. Could it be better? Yes. but I still think it looks pretty fun. but the 200$ price point sounds so high! 150$ seems more reasonable for this set!

I guess it's because I'm not into minifig collecting, but I never saw the draw of battle packs. The building experience is typically pretty bland, and done way too fast IMO

Just hit $200 here in Australia (so approx US$130) so it’s now a buy for me 👌
I might get it if it goes on that 40% off sale we've seen from some other recent 'failure' sets like Hulkbuster, Table Football and Black Panther Bust. It'll likely retire quickly, so if it hits a sale like that I might be tempted, but otherwise, nah.
My only hope from this set was the inclusion of a minifigure version of Chewbacca which gets my hopes up that they may include a minifigure with the droideka….. Rune Haako??🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

honestly i’d prefer that it’s not pose-able because it seems like a dense figure that would be hard to pose well, i can see this one going on sale in a year i’ll get it then
I actually think the lighter shade of Chewbacca on the larger figure should match that of the mini-figure. I don’t think the eyes are that bad, but I think they should be brought forward and not be so ingrained in his head. As a whole, I think I’ll get one.

It’s a hard pass for me at the $200 price point…I’m excited to see the May 4th UCS sett for 2024
Reporting in April 2024. Looks like he is going on sale for $160 for May the 4th this year. I am picking him up for that. $40 off and VIP points make up that missing value for me. Also, the new 25th anniversary R2 is sized with this Chewy. So, it’ll be cool to display them together. And, we are supposedly getting a C3PO too.

I am not sue about this, the eyes should been darker and bit closer to each other, and Chewie have more than 4 teeth, so maybe the mouth should been closed.
Is that easy to modify ? Other than that I like it.

Might get it on sale but probably not. I will say it did spark a tiny bit of interest in the stratocaster set. Probably won't get either one but if I catch them both on a good enough sale I might

Another set that falls victim to the Star Wars tax. I collected Star Wars sets as a kid, but have recently gotten into Lego again as an adult, building the amazing Longneck set which I picked up for just £60. However, now that I’ve browsed the store, the markup on Star Wars and Marvel sets is just ridiculous. Most of the Star Wars sets around the longnecks 1200 piece count are either £150 or the yoda/grogu/droid display figures for around £100. Looking around there are almost no Star Wars sets that I am remotely interested in, and any I would be are £30-50 more expensive than similar sized sets. So I’ll stick to the value I get for other themes, my days of Star Wars Lego collection are unfortunately behind me.

They are making lots of clone wars sets and lots of desired/fan favourites like the AT-TE, Gunship, tie bomber and interceptor, multiple clone battlepacks and there is a wide variety of themes. Right now you could go and buy at least one set from almost every movie and series.

I think this was a big mistake of lego. I don't understand, how this models can going through on their quality control? I think because of details chewy would look much more good in a torso only version what is bigger, but more detailed.

no exclusive minifig with this set? at that price point it's the minimum i would expect. It's discouraging to see so many of these sets lack basic imagination now though, i mean would it be a huge stretch to perhaps look at a twin build for chewie? A build and B build ? perhaps with Black Krrsantan being a B build? - a smaller figure but more features would be so much cooler, and people would probably buy two of the sets so they can display both. I feel like the Lego SW team don't get challenges like this anymore, they just get "build it with X amount of bricks and make it look as close to real as possible"
As his name says Black Krrsantan is black. So you would need the whole model in black + his armour. So the model would coast double its price. A B-model makes no sense here.
@@mxritz_01 the model being slightly smaller would work well anyway. the stand is black so could be used as part of the main build for a B build and the B build could have the brown stand as an alternative?
I for one like the set and what the designer did. I ain’t buying it, but I think it looks cool

Lego Chewbacca 75371? Price 🤪! Quality 🤮! Design 💩! To me this set looks more like Wendolene Ramsbottom's sinister dog, Preston. So the creators of Wallace & Gromit's "A Close Shave" should sue the Lego Group and the Star Wars franchise for copyright infringement.

This is an easy pass for me. Too expensive and has a weird looking face. If I want a tall figure that size I’ll get a Hot Toys figure which often start around this price. The face looks weird and it wouldn’t even go with the buildable droids I have (R2-D2 and BD-1).
