@@Gadzinisko mine doesn't have the cover part for the button anymore so I use the wrong end of a thin painbrush or a knitting needle to turn it on
I believe some EVGA boards do a pre-POST for the board. At least the last 3 of them I owned have done a temp cycle on, off, then full power up. Might just be something with their boards.
Mine is home-built and has parts that are turning 12 this year! No quirks, it just works! It was finicky about the power button at one point, turned out the power supply was giving up and when it finally died and I changed it, it just works!
When I turn on my current PC, the fans sometimes spin up to 100% until the OS loads.
One of my previous PCs would sometimes turn on by itself within ~10s of being turned off.

Honestly though... at this point anyone in the US who really wants a 30 series card will have gotten one already. They still go for normal prices in stores, unlike Europe where even the stores are asking for the inflated prices.

Remember when we could ACTUALLY buy a GPU? Like literally the good old days....pull up a Wednesday NCIX sale or a Newegg shell shocker an be able to get a brand new GPU in any class/tier we wanted. Sigh.....
These shortages in my experience happen every couple years when I built my current pc (like 4 years ago) a gpu shortage had just ended
Bout my 970 about 10 years ago, now that I've got a decent job and some spare money I can throw at one, they're about impossible to get, but somehow my 970 still decides it wants to get 50+ fps on about high settings, sometimes even maxed settings, so I guess ill survive for now

Not really. I built my first pc at the height of the crypto mining boom. The only affordable gpu I found was a 1050, when the 2000 series came out I ordered a 2070 right before they sold out.

I still have a Phenom X6! Paired with 16GB of DDR3 RAM and a GTX 1060 6GB it isn’t that bad, but it is still a bit of a bottleneck because of the CPU

PLEASE!! Please get Matthias to make a low, mid, high, and extreme 3D modeling, texturing, and rendering system! There are too many "gaming" pc builds out there on every goddamn channel but there are not enough workstation builds for 3D VFX work. Make something that will actually help a lot of artists to build a proper system to do 3D work.

Workstations are just like gaming PCs the only difference is that some workstations use threadrippers instead of normal ryzen CPUs

This. Although I like being a lonely expert in this niche field
I live in Japan, and space is a premium here for many of us (as a well as PC parts because anything Intel, Nvidia, AMD, etc. needs to be imported in).
Matt’s setup is the most ideal in my opinion.
Smartphone for work, comms, and productivity.
Switch for gaming on the go.
Home console for more serious games at home.
As long as you don’t heavily rely on high performance computing in your job, I think this setup is a good as it gets (as honestly if your job does require it they should be providing the equipment for you). And depending on the games you like, sometimes a single console can have you covered.

Dex - the most underrated setup ever... And one of the most awesome things out there.
Hold up. Matt, we NEED a video showing off you're use of Dex day to day.
I use dex for web browsing and content consumption. Like the day to day use is just plug in type-c cable and headphones, set phone down, grab mouse and click icon for web browser.

I used Samsun Dex as my computer when my internet went down due to a service issue with my ISP. A 1Mbps internet to watch CZcams videos is better than nothing at all (I still had videos stored on my phone itself, and I can connect an external hard drive to the Dex's USB ports for more videos to watch).

I love how clean the 2nd guy (readhead) has his build put together. It just dawned on me that the way people are hiding all their wires is to have the mobo mounted underneath the plate. Why am I just now realizing this? Now I can't wait to do another build, once the chip famine is over with. Maybe by then, eVga will finally let me know it's my turn to get a 3080 at MSRP.

I bought mine because it was cheaper than getting a DAC+AMP setup... and then I proceeded to break it, buy another, then spend that much over buying more WIMA foil caps.
But the important bit, buying more powerful PNP+NPN transistors (D882+B772) and going through 200 pieces to hand-match the most powerful two pairs with the highest matching hFE rating.... that was surprisingly cheap! (Albeit time consuming.)
...but of course audiophiles laugh at my setup when I show it off despite it being able to now output 1000mW of power @32Ohm at ridiculously low distortion rates for its price bracket ._.)

I actually dig Jake's massive white case with almost obscure motherboard. Something about the video card and cpu cooler just dominating the space with almost no wires just screems overkill-minimalist. Honestly its a look, and i like it.

The future would be more like a device that has the power of a desktop, with the portability of a wearable (or at the very least laptop), and the ease of use and accessibility of a console.
As someone who self-built a gargantuan rig with 16 RGB PWM fans, 8 drives, and a custom loop, the amount of wires quickly became staggering. I *feel* Matthias' comment at about 8:50 man. SO MANY WIRES. My attempt at good cable management is now out the window but hey, machine works great.
When jake removed that glass back panel I had an immediate flash back when my glass blow up in my face when it hit the floor 😭

I can relate to Matt somewhat on the whole “using your phone for everything” bit. I remember when I first got an Android phone in 2016 after years of using Windows phone, I didn’t touch my laptop for over a year because I was simply able to do everything I needed on my phone.
How is that even possible, I can't imagine using any phone for even 1/10th of things that I do on my PC.

When you use Samsung DeX it is connected to a display (and can have a mouse and kybd) and works just like a computer with a desktop OS similar to Chrome OS in terms of looks. I enjoy using it personally though I don't need it often due to having several laptops and desktops.

The X570-I Strix? Jake has the most sensible build, hands down. I still can't believe that thing exists and I'm on a X570 TUF Gaming board. This thing is loaded. I'm on a R5 3600, 64GB DDR4, a RX 580 for my VR/compute/rendering and an antique water cooling case from 2002. I must be really pinching storage because I have nothing close to even half a TB for SSD space. Just a single 240GB nvme and a 120GB sata. The most inspiring part of this video has to be the console dedication. I seriously need to do something with my 360.

My one and only console was an Interton Electronic 1000 made in West Germany in 1979. I owned one PS3 that I only used to play music and blu-rays. All my gaming has been done on 8-bit, 16-bit home computers and PCs. Though my current PC is now 7 years old but I did finally upgrade my GTX970 SLi to an RTX3060.

Second hand market for cards was insane. Was able to score a 1070ti for like $240 last year

7:00 wires thru the wall in the next room is literally what I did for years without good AC in south Florida. I put a 24 inch box fan next to the case with the side panel off and that was remarkably effective.

Nowadays I have a Corsair 750D Airflow case, and also a Cyberpower 1500watt "UPS" (Uninterruptible Power Supply) because well.. Florida Power.
Honestly am going to be building a Thin mITX computer when I can be bothered to, cuts down on power consumption/heat dissipation by a lot + is portable, moreso than a Full Size ATX case anyways.
I love the Threadripper rig and the 3D renders.

samsung phones s8 and up support it. All you need is a usb-c to hdmi adapter, and some form of keyboard and mouse. You could get a laptop dongle for all that, and even connected wired ethernet.
I dont hv samsung device but i do own 1+ 7t, which also hv a desktop mode, albeit shittier lol. Need to install taskbar + secondscreen(to adjust dpi)
But it is still a nice experience. Did some ms office(web ver since it is better than app ver on android imo), photo editing etc. Really depend with the web app, like chrome os i think.
Only downside is i cant use extension like mendelay when using word for citation

Jake's PC actually infuriates me because it is such a wasteful case, but I also love just how perfectly clean it looks having a little itx mobo in that giant case. Next build for myself I am going the all white look.
It's wasteful now but it will allow him to expand in the future
5000D is a very good airflow case, so being bigger and have less component is actually not that bad.
My PC is the same way. I got an ITX motherboard because I had originally planned to make a tiny hackintosh, but ended up getting a Phanteks Eclipse P400s case (with a solid side panel, no window).
Not really wasteful it's probably very quiet
