How much did you think it would be? Did you guess right? 🤔
I guessed $180😂
I guessed over $1000. No clue.
$300 my guess
I thought around $180
I guessed $175.
Seeing the difference in Meighan's confidence from that first video to now is really amazing; I know that's something all of the other CZcams woodworkers went through behind the scenes, but that first video about the shelf really helped inspire me to tackle some handy projects around the house myself.
I made an insert for our window so our air conditioner sealed really well, and also built a custom shelving unit for our closet.
And here you are, paying it forward, sharing your DIY confidence!
That. Is. Awesome. I really really appreciate hearing that -Meighan
I freaking love this editor, man, they're amazing
I guessed $200. She's a great bargain hunter! Also, this is my absolute favorite type of video, I love seeing people's homes get customized to their families.
That is one of the reasons I love this channel. So many DIY channels get big, and acquire so many fancy tools out of the reach of a typical person. I love how they keep projects real and do-able.
Idem. (100+300)/2=200. I would have been well advised to use a "bargain hunting" correction coefficient. I like to watch "I LIKE TO MAKE STUFF"😁 no correction coefficient needed, 100% satisfaction 😉
Nice budget build. But i had the impression to make a curved bench to match the table.
We thought about that, but this format really works still for her.
Curved benchs have an issue with corners - either somebody sits there close to the table and can't lean back or you have to make a curved backrest as well which isn't fun.
Bob, I love the way you have taken the channel. This kind of video shows how much you care about the employees.
We're all a great team!
Bob sweating saw dust after realising how much she saved by shopping right things from right place.
Great project. 🎉
I can't believe it's been a year!! she has fit right in with the team!
Anyone else love Meighan's cinnamon rolls story? It seriously got me in all the feels. 🥺
It poked at our hearts too.
Ok, the title card that just kept adding words smaller and smaller cracked me up soooo much harder than it should have.
Good work.
It was too good not to do
I like Meighan. Bargain hunter, fearless about the build, and unapologetic about the vision for the project. Really inspiring!
We like her too!! She knew exactly what she imagined and made it happen.
The piled-up words on the bottom of the screen (at about 2:20) was absolutely adorable. Kudos to the team for coming up with that.
Amazing build! What’s more amazing is how confident Meghan presents herself in the camera and how she works! What a superwoman! She’s cute, yes!
I love playing "How much do you think is the lowest we can spend to build this thing - the way you want it - because that's an important thing we don't want to build it really cheaply looking. We want it to look like you want, but what's the lowest number you think we can make that happen at?"
It's my favorite game? Right next to golf!
really like the newish format and release day
Great build and fun video. Also really cool to see Meighan in front of the camera. Hopefully we can see her more in the future.
Thanks!
I would love a class of something like this similar to your bookcase class that walks through how you modeled the kitchen and then all the pieces for the bench.
Wife and I definitely guessed 150 about a second before Megan said what she thought it was going to cost 😂😂. That looks super cool!
Thanks!
Pretty amazing work, guys! It turned out fantastic! 😃
Stay safe there with your families! 🖖😊
Terrific work Bob & Meighan & that's money well spent! Enjoy! 👍👍👏👏
Is it really well spent? She is probably just going to move in a year or 2.
Sometimes it takes younger couples a few houses to find a forever space :)
Turn out very unique and really useful and very clean design. Nice job. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friends. Keep Making. God bless.
Awesome build!!
Looks great. Wonderful to point out all the ways to save on a project like this. Also: You overlayed the ad spot while still showing the project. This should be the gold standard other channels follow! I actually paid attention.
Great job on this!
I REALLY enjoyed the price guessing game at the beginning and end. Should be a reoccuring thing!!
This was probably the most fun for us!
Looks great! Good job, y'all!
Thanks so much!
9:31 That's a clever way to cut edge banding!
Meighan with the foot drip!
You should see her shoe closet 😳
Hey bob, I love how you say that the jig saw is a versatile tool to have. Knowing that you hate it made me laugh 😂
wow, she's THRIFTY!! impressive!! looks great all ser up at the end!
This was so awesome!!!
What a great team.
I was hoping Bob would do his best I Live Lucy impression. "This video is sponsored by vitameatavegemin"
New music tracks?! That was fun! Also. The track during the pocket hole screwing had big David Picciuto vibes. Loved it!
We're big fans of David over here
Great video and amazing job getting everything for those prices. Taking the extra time to bargain hunt really paid off!
You got that right!
Made the same guess as Meighan x)
Really love the video !
I remember when Bob used to hated jigsaws.. good ol' times 💯
I love this build for the design and the nostalgia factor! And I also love these kinds of videos that show people how much can be accomplished for so little cost. But one thing I never see mentioned is cost savings vs. time savings, and I always find that a bit disappointing. Hunting down all those bargains can be time-consuming! Before I DIY anything, I always weigh the potential cash saved vs. time invested, the value of getting exactly what I want vs. buying an affordable "close enough" product, and the health impact of whether DIY is my relaxing hobby (it is) or that stressful side job that doesn't pay (which it also sometimes is, lol). And those variables differ for every project! Just once I'd love to see a DIY channel say, "We did the math on this one and decided to buy [close enough thing] instead, and then we used the time saved to [do other thing]." That said, I think you did a beautiful job with this, and you looked like you were having fun, so I'd say this DIY build was a successful calculation.
Thanks! Meighan scrolls for bargains all the time. As far as the supplies at the hardware store I think she and Josh spent under half an hour going through boards to find the ones they wanted. So honestly, not a lot of time was spent looking for the right prices. Before they even left, they did a quick search of the local store to compare prices.
I was thinking 200, that awesome!
I like the TOH feel with the costar lol
What auction site has pillows like that for so cheap?! Also, I had my wife watch this with me. Looks like we’re building a bench in the kitchen now.. Love this type of video. Do another!
It's called Fast Track It - it's only in certain parts of the country and is only in person pick up. But if you have one near you, I definitely say to check it out!
Cool project! I’d like to see you folks wearing more ear pro, tho
I'm working right now with one of those smaller laminated pine boards, building a table lamp base that will match our new living room tables........
omg a kenan & kel reference?? i loved that show so much!! also this was a great video!!
Dude!!! Nice!
My wife and I went to Home Depot around 1985-86 & wanted to buy a 4X4 for a project. They said they could cut that piece of wood down to more manageable pieces. I thought great. I had already measured the dimensions/length I needed. One of their guys took his tape measure & marked down the board/post & proceeded to cut the wood down. Out of a 8 foot piece of wood, only 1 piece was measuring @ my length. Others were longer & still others were not long enough. I was able to get only 4 pieces to length for my project & all the rest was nothing but scraps. Not a professional job at all.
I get that. We actually measure it out for them and stand with them while they cut. Not necessarily "over their shoulder" but we haven't had any major issues. Sorry about your experience.
Shout out to the disc golfer in the house!
Meighan's husband is an avid disc golfer. Rolling disc cart and everything.
10:06 Man tell me about it. I’m building my sister some built in shelves in her house and one of the walls is so bowed out in the middle that it’s made the project a lot more difficult than it really should be. There’s always going to be something to work around!
i feel like Meighan could join the ILTMS team and have her own segment like: "ILTSM (I like to save money)." Thats corny but y'all get me
HAHA! this is awesome.
Is there any chance Meighan could do a video on making cinnamon rolls? Just mentioning them made me hungry ;P
Anthony is actually the pro cinnamon roll maker!
ACTION!
I'm going to assert: She's going to regret not getting 3" min dense upholstery foam pcs + dacron wrapping. But, she WAS trying to beat a price challenge. But, those cushs? Too thin.
What were the auction sites Megan used? Great result!
Fast Track It - but it's only available in certain areas of the county. Check them out to see if they're in your area!
Great job team!
Thank you!
Did you use the panel saw from the box store as your final cuts? That thing always tears up my plywood.
Hey is it possible if you can a video on how to make a floating bed frame???
That's a remarkable price. I was guessing $500. I don't know if the area you live in is just cheaper or what, but $160 is insane. Although, I would've made the seat cushion thicker, like three or four times thicker, they look nice.
Meighans shoe game is next level.
Full fam keep the shoe game in business.
@@Iliketomakestuff gonna need that shoe related project soon.
Wow Bob recommending a jigsaw... Things have truly changed since the early days of ILTMS
I was wrong, I guessed $250. Nice job!!!
Does that ag1 promo code work in the uk? Great work on all your videos btw
Okay, I thought of this because of the one in the background. You all should totally make a disc golf goal that lights up or does something cool when you make the shot.
czcams.com/video/tG75jMdBS5M/video.html We made a disc golf basket before!!
Always better to over budget than under budget
CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is there a link to the hinges and gas struts?
Please make a BITS video about all types of jigsaws with full details 🙏🏻
Meighan is awesome!
She's pretty cool!
Bench looks awesome…. almost as awesome as those Jordan 3s Meighan is sporting 👀
Sneakerheads - UNITE!
hm, i thought the bench was gonna be curved because the table is round.
You beat me to it. I thought the same thing. 😅
I kept waiting to see the table modifications, lol.
Any link to the hinges and damper?
thanks
I think it might have been better for the return to basically extend it, and put a filter behind the grate you laser cut. That way you don't have to mess around with the one in the back
I was waiting for someone to mention that and it looks like there was a little more restriction in the airflow if that is really the return for the AC. They are going to have a bad "delta T" because of the restricted airflow but I guess time will tell.
Good news: her husband is AC certified so they can keep an eye on things!
@@Iliketomakestuff are the cross braces in the space where the air return is still there or did their AC start to run hot?
What’s the name of the auction where you found the Kreg jig thanks.
The website is called Fast Track It - you can find it in certain locations across the country. Unfortunately you can only pick up, no shipping. But if there's a location near you, I definitely encourage you to check it out! -Meighan
Was creasing the shit outta them 3s crouching like that lol
I guessed around $220. Good job!
I didn’t know Meighan was married to Paul Jackman 😂 Awesome video guys!
Ha! Her husband is pretty cool!
12:44 Can you make that grate with plunge cuts on a table saw using a miter stack, or is that unfavorable?
I don’t see why you couldn’t
I thought it was gonna cost $161
:( DANGIT
Does anyone know the type of utility knife he used for cutting the edge banding
It's called the Maker Knife, made by Giaco Whatever(his youtube channel).
Tool tip, glue a magnet to your screw driver so you don't have to hold screws in your mouth.
Did you block the return air grill for the AC !?!?
Dang, i wonder what auction sites she goes to and if there's one that caters to my area.
Great job!
I do wonder what could have been done on the inside to make the storage area look more intentional. That's my only critique.
We all get a lot of stuff from BidFTA.com they've got warehouses all over the place 👍🏼
Yes, these prices are your guess. As for the manufacturers, they will ask from $ 500 to 1,000!
Wow... I had estimated $300, before Bob gave his estimate. Nice job, Meighan.
She’s just causally wearing reimagined Jordan 3’s in the shop 😭
LOL wild card.
I need friends who's dads have a shop that they are dispersing ! 😂
She lucked out!
I guessed $225 - that’s such a great deal!!
cool beans
Pinto beans, baked beans, ranch beans, red beans, Lima beans 🫘
Kinda funny that she used the shop vacuum for the pocket holes and not the saw 🙈🙈😬
Awk. Forgot to hook it back up. -Meighan
Question? Did she inherit the tools, or did she “invest” in the purchase of these tools? Very confusing contradictory statement.
Meighan inherited all the tools in her shop. She recently purchased a new table saw but if you can see in the back, she had a super old one as well. So not only did she invest in just one tool, she inherited EVERYTHING else. Which is awesome.
So, when did Bob get inked?
I saw it on this episode and thought it was just drawn on to match Meighan’s ink. But now it’s in the Ghia video.
Running gag, or actual tat? 😂
Thanks you SO MUCH for this video James! Not only do I love the deep dive into coffee roasting, I can use the info to sound even more pretentious! 😂
If you're looking for James Hoffman, I think you commented on the wrong video. But now I want to know which of his videos you were watching!
Great video, and shout-out to Meighan for always bringing the sneaker heat! I would never build stuff in my 3s! 😂
You should see her shoe closet 😳
Why do I think they still bang down, since in all the shots you guys were holding them and softly closing up. 😮
I would’ve at least primed the inside to give it a little more finished look when opening the bench.
your editor is so funny
very very cool tattoos!
Really want to see the cinnamon rolls
Same.
I'm confused here. Sure the bench for this low budget is nice but it does nothing to fit a round table to a square space. All this does it change a chair or two for a flat bench.
You're not wrong. But it also turned a blank wall into an attractive/usable space. Whereas before it wasn't really anything. All up to how you want your house to be :)
