I think the brain damage is from the radiation
the alien architecture in this game is based off of actual human designs meant to convey a sense of foreboding to people without a known language, its meant to be used by radioactive waste dumps that will remain dangerous for thousands of years

I ended up grabbing this game on the steam sale after watching this. Really neat concept, and apparently has a lot of different possible endings depending on what you discover and how much money/radiation you have by the time you leave the planet. Pretty neat for a solo dev project.
