- Just a quick backyard test and review of the new Featherstone Outdoor Products Moondance quilt. I got the long wide version and it is both LOL. The quilt is super soft and so far had done well. I will be taking it out on the trail for a true test very soon.

Thanks. I’m glad I could help.
Great review, I've been considering this quilt and this video certainly has helped.
Awesome I’m glad I was able to help
Very good review!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you !!! great review.
Thanks for watching!
Great review! Been looking at this bad boy online and the loft is looking really nice!
It has been good for me so far. I really like the quilt other than the two issues I stated in the video
@@arkansasoutdoorschannel1867 was curious how you like this vs the Peria 15 quilt?
I really like the Moondance more than the Paria. However I have been able to test the limit of the Moondance like I did the Paria.
I'm Planning on getting a 500 gram Ish down blanket to pair with this when temps drop below its rating. Do you think that's a good idea or not? I like my gear to be modular and it's really hard for Me to find gear that fits my 6'6 arse
Honestly being as tall as you are that might be your only way to go. You might want to contact Hammock Gear or EE and see if they can make a custom quilt in the temp range that would fit your height.
Thank you. The only thing that was stopping me was the colour. It looks like a garbage/trash bag. They now have a blue version so will upgrade soon.
I liked the color. It kind of felt like Halloween to me, with the orange and black.
The color is what determined your decision lol
Harley Davidson colors
Do you fold it down a bit or sleep with it over your face? Lol that thing is like 7.5 feet long that’s the only reason I went with the regular/regular no regular/wide option unfortunately
It is too big for me and I would fold it down. I wish I would have gotten a different size.
@@arkansasoutdoorschannel1867 I see, yeah it’s a really big quilt
@@christianb8228 ditto. I'm 6 foot and would get the regular if I was to purchase again. I either sleep with it like a blanket or fold the top over and have my feet in the footbox. If I'm camping with one of my kids I'll fully unzip it and throw it over both of us (and their sleeping bag). So it's nice to have that flexibility. It's only a 100g weight difference so no big issue with the long version there.
Do bivvys effect the loft of your quilt?
Yes and no. If you get a bivy that is too tight for your pad, body shape, quilt loft then yes it can. If you have a bivy that fits all of that then no. Plus a bivy can add about 5-10 degrees on your sleep system if it fits you and your gear properly.
@@arkansasoutdoorschannel1867 have you seen the Trifecta Bivvy by 2GoSystems? It's a soft tyvek material with a a breathable/reflective coating on the inside. Really amazing product. It has to add at least 10 degrees but I bet it's more like 20. You can unzip it and use it as a tarp if needed.
Where was the quilt made? Is it an American company?
I assume its made somewheres overseas.
@@arkansasoutdoorschannel1867 I assume some of your viewing audience would appreciate that sort of info so they could decide whether spending another $20 for an American made quilt would be worth it.
Yes it is an American company based out of California but they are made in China don’t be fooled into thinking that means an inferior product because it sure doesn’t…this is a high quality product for cheap. Obviously because it is manufactured in China it allows the company to charge much less for their products, but again this a high quality product…
Might be made by "distressed" workers if that is an issue for you. It's how we, in the rich countries, can get "cheap" gear.
I'm Pretty sure Featherstone, Paria Outdoor Products and Hyke & Byke are all the same company depending on how their reviews are going online.
I have a Paria and the Featherstone. Both are pretty different in size and matieral. The came from different addresses as well. However I guess they could be built in the same overseas factory.
@@arkansasoutdoorschannel1867 yeah possibly. Mine just arrived today anyways and I'm very happy with it. No customs fee either 😁
Is the 90/10 the ratio of goose to duck down??? Good job on the video, nice presentation.
I dont know. Maybe Featherstone would be able to help.
