  • In a remote region of unforgiving drought, famine and poverty, the Karite tree has sustained life since it began. Since the 14th century, women have been working together to process the nuts into products that have enhanced their lives. Global Mamas works with hundreds of women in the Damongo area who practice the centuries-old trade of collecting the fallen nuts of the Karite tree, and laboriously transform them into the silken, nourishing and versatile creamy substance known as Shea Butter. We assure the quality and authenticity of our Grade A shea butter.
Buying Global Mamas Pure Shea gives women an opportunity to support themselves, and also feed and educate their families in a sustainable partnership with nature.

These ladies must have the softest, smoothest hands even with all that hand labor.

This was a neat video. I love Shea butter and cocoa butter so it’s interesting to me the process of how each one is made. It’s definitely not an easy process and those women are hard workers. Besides having great genes, I’m sure this is another reason why they have such beautiful looking skin!

Not an easy process at ALL. Shea is known in Ghana as "women's gold" for it's replenishing qualities.

@global Mamas...Thanks for making it known to the world. I am from Northern Ghana, I hold a BSc. Degree in Chemistry and MSc. Medicinal plants research and drug development. I want to use my expertise to facilitate things of these sort for them. This would undoubtedly make commercialization easier and for that matter ease the work of the women. Any idea as to how I can get partnerships. Thank you

The end result looks like Western Africa Shea-Tree-Butter, brouwnish/white, or is it because of the rosting? The Nolitica/Easter African Shea-Tree butter is more yellow/white. I like this one better!
