  • I decided to modify my Subs. I hate it that some subs don't come with casters.

    At Harbor freight they sell rollers carts for $30 that will do the job without drilling into the speaker cabinet......

    hey joey, i bought these speaker bases too, had the same issue you had PICKING THEM UP UGH!!!. your idea of putting wheels was great but instead of the issue you had of sideways rolling and possible sticking on ground and breaking wheels off also bad cover placement .You gave me a better idea. i went to home depot 1/2" plywood and made a floor dolly with wood rails to keep speaker from sliding off and painted board with truck spray grit for added support. works great. just thought i shoot this idea to you. have a great day LONG LIVE THE BEATS !!!!

    I am not a professional Dj however I am in the market for a pair of good “Powered Subwoofers”. I like to procrastinate and while I am doing that I read,watch and listen to anything that gives me the information I need to make a decision. The little that I know about speaker boxes (especially) subwoofers, makes me nervous about putting those wheels on the cabinets........you are bound to get vibration even if you got the tightest ball bearings on those wheels. I would have built one or two dollies to cart the speakers or simply use my adjustable hand truck.

    Drill holes where the cover is not covering.

  • @davidgeorge1294
    @davidgeorge1294 Před 3 lety +6

    Be professional and buy a flight case for them. The castor's won't rattle and you don't need covers. Second choice if a flight case is not in the budget, buy a dolly then you won't have holes drilled into your new speakers. Often a 4 wheeled dolly costs the same or less than the castor's alone and you only need one dolly not wheels for each box. The dolly can be used for most of your gear.

      @@ladjkaozthat is what I did. I made a wood floor dolly for my ekx 18 sub. I didn't wanted to make any holes and I never buy covers. It is useless n waste of money. The subs will gets scratches here n there n it is normal. Also u will be using them outside on the floor, dirt ,grass and will get scratch. Now as far as this sub. I own a single exk 18 and I use for a group. For indoor gig it is enough but for outdoors you def def need a second one and tbh if their is no walls around you outside you truly need a pair of 4 of this to give u a great sound pressure a single sub outside it is not enough and u will have to be setting up at 10 volume and clipping

    • @ladjkaoz

      Roast cases, is the best to protect your gear but your back will hate you... I rather be happy with my back than gear. also road cases take more space...

    Hello prosound world some about boxes have casters on them but for the most part weebill flat dollies for them so basically all you needed to do was build yourself a flat dolly for your chops in a flat dolly for your subs and that way you wouldn't had to change anything with your covers in a ratchet strap hold the speakers to the dolly so you have fun with that

  • @sok.t

    the ekx15sp and ekx18sp is not heavy and for this reason haven't casters(ekx15sp is only 26.2kg or 57.7lb and ekx18sp is only 32.8kg or 72.3lb) only etx15sp and etx18sp have casters why the etx15sp is 41.7kg or 91.9lb and etx18sp is 51.8kg or 114.1lb
    i have 2 etx18sp and 4 etx35p and the etx35p i can pick up alone why is 38.2kg(or 84.1lb) but i can't pick up alone the subwoofer only with casters because is 51.8kg

  • @kevinbrown4119

    Nice video. But I don't understand why the covers don't fit. I have the ETX 18 inch subs but the came with casters and the covers fit the way they should.

    • @altern8nrg
      @altern8nrg Před 4 lety +1

      Perspective and justification for castor use:
      ETX 18sp weighs 114lbs
      EKX 18sp is 72.4lbs
      ELX-200 18sp is 64lbs.
      Using castor's makes transport easy for heavier cabinets but also makes them bigger in the space they need for transport. Screwing them directly to the cabinet vs. anchor/bolt system is just going to lead to trouble. Having a bolt to anchor fixation of the castor plates makes removal easier and without eventual cabinet holes.
