I love this film. It's as simple as that. This movie is one of my favourites of 2022. It deserves more acclaim. More money. More everything. Gah, it is truly awesome. Never saw the staged version, so I wasn't really sure what to expect. But it blew me away in every respect. Love it. Love it. Love it. Watch this film! The end.

i love it and a big fan of the original film in 1996 there are some things i want to return but love the musical i want to see the stage performance of matilda the musical

I really enjoyed it but the opening song was really bad for my taste everything was too much and I was scared it was going to be like that all the way but i was pleasantly surprised

it really exists to set up the childlike-lense of the story, as well as the other musical numbers. whilst the aesthetic does not remain throughout the rest of the film, it does a great job in establishing the era of the film, whilst matching the themes of the song (the mad, doting parents, the overly vulgar wormwoods etc). you also have to remember that it is a prelude, and set a couple of years before the actual events of the story, so visual clues such as the overly-saturated colour palette does a good job at enforcing that fact.

Actually at the beginning of the movie the Wormwood's were disappointed about their child being a girl. Because they wanted a son.

I didn’t think it was a great musical because the lyrics are way too complicated for a child to remember therefore not catchy which is one of the things any musical needs to have. Look at the greatest showman for example, its very overrated in terms of how good it is, but the songs save it. I don’t even like music yet i had the greatest showman songs in my head for months. I can’t remember a single song from matilda the musical which is probably why I didn’t like it. Also why did they remake it in the first place? The original was great
