Dark humor is an actual joke, with setup, timing and a punchline. What tiktok calls "dark humor" is just discrimination with no punchline at all
Humor is also subjective. Something can be funny to me and not to you. But there is a difference between being funny and just straight up fucking ignorant. As a rule I've found if you're the only one laughing in the room you're probably an asshole.

In my opinion, dark humour is some of the hardest to pull off correctly. You need to construct something controversial and edgy, whilst still making it tasteful and clever.
Itâs misunderstood by so many people who think that you can just say slurs or repeat the same offensive joke and itâll be funny, which isnât true. It doesnât help that the belief of âoh, of you have a problem with it then youâre just offended and my joke was great!â is around, which is the furthest thing from the truth.
Exactly my opinion

Something that I want to add in your argument is this:
Edgy humor DOES NOT work with EVERYONE. Not only you must do it in right place, at the right time, but also around the right people. If I make an edgy joke around my friends, that's fine because they'll know that's just a joke. But if I do it to a random stranger then how will they know that's a joke?
Also thing people need to understand is that we all have limits, not all edgy jokes land with me, and not all jokes land with my friends. We have to create a balance to not cross some else's lines and stay where we know it's okay for them.
based
FR. You can't just walk up to someone and say "I wish I could murder your entire family!!! LOL XD" (This breaks every single rule of Edgy humor)
I agree with that part of the argument, but it also goes both ways, if someone were to be in a gc or something where people make dark jokes, they canât just try to get offended.
This actually happened to me recently, someone posted an edgier meme, which we all would laugh at, but one caused an entire controversy. It basically ended because I told them to stop bitching about it and leave if they couldnât handle it, and they called me sexist for it. In the end, the entire gc was cool and we all are good friends, but the point is as much as you gotta moderate what you say around others, if you have a group of people that have collectively decided edgy humor is okay, then one person canât expect things to go their way if they have a problem with it.

Bringing up another content creator, SolarSands. He started off just roasting, cringing and bullying artists on deviantart. Finding the "cringe" that was on there. But over time he grew out of his edgy, self-depricating content. Now he does very informing videos on topics like art, sociology, and the human condition. He knew that the type of content he was doing wasn't going to last and decided to change it up so it would be more timeless.
Solar sands is probably my favorite channel on the site. I've been watching since the deviantart days and I think I've evolved with him from an edgy kid to someone looking for something more thought-provoking

Humour is a way I cope with literally everything, but it gets me into so much trouble sometimes. I remember when my dog died, I started to make jokes about the situation. My family and friends got mad at me because of this for ânot taking this seriouslyâ, but I did take it seriously. When I was alone I was crying like hell because of what happened. When I got Covid I made jokes about it despite it being such an agonizing time. Everything in life Iâve been able to cope with through jokes. So when I see people taking about how âall dark humour is badâ or how âyouâre a horrible person for making that type of jokeâ it just really fucks with my self esteem.

I feel like you can make really dark jokes as long as your
1: respectful and obviously a joke
2: You donât just make the joke the fact that itâs dark
Dark jokes work when they make fun of a situation, not a group.
dark jokes are inherently disrespectful but as long as itâs obviously a joke and funny, its fine
@@aurin_komak well your wrong jokes have no limits or boundaries and you can make jokes of anything as they'll always be a audience
@@aurin_komak like what if I make a joke of respawoning in China and when I return to heaven they ask me if I was a girl and I say yes(you'll get the joke if you know what goes on there) in conclusion it's pointless to limit humor as long as it has a good structure and good punchline even sometimes bad jokes
Here's the thing though 2 doesn't apply that much, since it is not really the intent of the joke, but the joke itself that makes it funny
The worst type of "dark humor" in my opinion are the ones with the old white man emoji. I've seen some jokes use this emoji and it would actually be funny, but now it's just the same overused joke with no originality or creativity, and the jokes aren't even jokes anymore and are just straight up racism

I only ever met one guy back in highschool who was able to pull off dark humor. It would always be at the most random times so it would catch you of gaurd.
Like at times when your taking a shit?
my man put it into words. theres a lot of nuance and context behind dark humour that a lot of people misconstrue, suddenly its either that "you cant take a joke" or "cancelled". some people are just too dent-headed to be on the internet
My view on dark humour is its fine to joke with dark humour as long as it is just jokes and no bad intention behind it. That is perfectly fine. But if your making dark humour with actually meaning what your talking about then that isn't good. It also doesn't help that people get offended for people. If someone makes a dark humour joke with his friends it's the people in his friend group that the joke was targeted towards decides if its OK or not. You don't decide for them
In some situations you can. If they make multiple dark jokes about one group of people, and that's all they joke about, it stops being a joke. Make a joke about gay people once, fine. Twice, maybe getting suspicious, especially in a short amount of time. Fifty is no longer a joke, it's just hate disguised as a joke. You can make a joke about a group of people, but if that's all you joke about, especially constantly, there might be a problem.

Dark humor is only funny if you can dish it and take it. For example, if you make racist jokes, don't be offended or get mad when someone makes jokes about your race. Its fair game. Also the jokes are way funnier when you went through the stuff you joke about. For example, Pete Davidson joking about 9/11, when his dad passed away due to 9/11.
The only take i agree in this whole coment section.
One of the advantages Iâve learned about dark humor is that if youâre immersed enough in it it gives you a sort of sense for when someoneâs being edgy or just being a bigot. Is that just me?

The right way to say dark humor is to check these 4 boxes:
1: it has a offensive element (ex: twin towers, racial stereotypes, etc)
2: it has a punchline (something to tie in the offensive part to the rest of the joke, is usually the offensive part)
3: It starts with a random fact, question, or statement (ex: why are [race] people [emotion] of/at [different about something]? etc)
4:make it make sense (any joke isnât funny unless the setup and the punchline make sense together)

Also people seem to forget some famous people are just assholes and actual cancelation should be reserved for rapists, pedophiles, murderers and blatant hate speech

Filthy Frank did not stop being Filthy Frank because he didn't like the content anymore or just wanted to try something new. He was permanently damaging his throat from doing the Filthy Frank voice, and was having stress-induced seizures while filming. He had no choice.
Also, dark humor on CZcams is still thriving, it's just not the same exact creators. We have people like TraRags (as shown in the video), LongBeachGriffy, jschlatt, and we even still have iDubbbz.
Nice to see you grow soo much def deserved it with this type of quality content. Ong one of the best and underrated people on the platform
Underrated with 330k subscribers lol
@@liltree8382 definitely he deserves way more
@@sultis334 Nah heâs kind of a rip off Degenerocity
For me i see dark humor in my opinion as a joke that has something controversial or inappropriate in it but slides in so well that is gets the laugh in but the problem is that people online don't know how to actually pull this way correctly instead leading to all this non dark humor and misunderstanding of the phrase and people getting angry not knowing that it is all a joke and is something that doesn't try to harm someone unless the person is being serious with thier claims
Dark humor is funny when it's more humorous than it is offensive, case closed
I think French Baguette Intellignece's video on dark humor explains it really well. It's not my taste in humor, but I can respect the art.
I was just about to comment about his video lol, I agree.
Theres alot of people who have the dark but not the humor.
5:28 đ that man was foooolded
âJust grow a pack of ballsâ đ
It also reminds me of these jokes that people at my school would make abt Asian people. I go to a school that is dominated only with black/ Latinos. And since there are no Asians people make fun of them the most. This one kid was talking shit abt Asians and then makes his eyes slanted at me and says âall Japanese and Chinese people are the sameâ he starts saying â Ching Chongâ. He even called this Korean sub we had and called her â Hong Kongâ.
Heâs always bullying me because I like K-pop even though I donât even talk abt it at school.
Like bro these kids @ my school have such a strong hatred for Asians for no reason đš. Like bro leave them alone for once đą. This on time this sophomore from last year was sexualizing my literature teacher( who is Vietnamese) and starts saying how Asian people are sexy and obedient to be âfunnyâ. And she did nothing abt it .đ
Also I remember we had this Korean American at my elementary school and we would always call him Ching Chong and say he was Chinese and not Korean. I felt so bad because We rlly hurt his feelings. Hope heâs doing well.

I can't believe she was the entirety of Hong Kong
And the sophomore dude sounds like you can smell Cheeto dust off him from a mile
Lmaooo ching chong.
4:45 That's actually funny NGL, i died of laughter when he left
Thereâs a Fine line between real Dark Humor and Offensive Humor. As a CZcamsr I watched once put it; âI use Humor to make light of a bad situation and have a punch line; you just think the bad situation is inherently funny. Weâre not the same.â
Tommys actually so fucking great
In 7th grade I thought dark humor was just sexism and bombing and shit. And now, I laugh at a Kanye West lookalike rapping nonsense.
Hot damn I evolved.

I normally like dark humor when it's used correctly, but I've always been annoyed at people who make rape jokes and then cover t up by saying "I'm just joking around!" There are plenty of people, including many rape victims themselves, who constantly tell these people that those jokes are not okay and are just offensive, but of course, they just respond with the word "snowflake"
I love Tommy's editing
I donât
That durarara clip of shizuo punching that dude so hard he flew will always be hilarious
