Great video. I agree with much of what you thought.
I tried to buy the fuel funnel several times online but keeps giving me an error, that my address is not right. 👀👀👀
Flyscreen is nice for me. I'd never take off my orange stripes... It's my favorite part esthetically hahaha. Also, bar end mirrors were my favorite addition. Makes the biggest difference in clarity of seeing what is going on behind me.
I've have mine on the interstate and agree with your assessment that it's not best for 70+ for long periods of time.
    Good stuff nomad🍻

Thanks. Thought I’d reflect a bit. It’s been a fun 2000 miles. Yeah the stripes don’t really bug me. Silver emblems do a bit so it would be an all in one removal maybe depending.

    Dear Sir,
Many thanks for uploading your video - I've really enjoyed watching it.
I too am seriously considering purchasing a Vespa 300 GTS.
I'm just wondering, though - you said that you've reached a speed of 70mph, and that the engine had a little more poke left in it (albeit not much).
In your honest opinion, do you feel that the 300 GTS would comfortably hold that speed- 70mph - on a motorway/freeway, for an extended period of time, without at all seeming as though it was under great strain?
The reason I ask is that IF I go ahead with the purchase, I would very much like to take my new machine over to France, and do some solo touring - and that will entail spending several hours a day on French highways at 70-odd m.p.h.
Your insightful opinion, based on ownership experience, would be greatly appreciated.
Once again, many thanks for your time and effort.
    Warmest regards,
    Neil (England).

      So a couple things…
      1. If buying new you’ll have a 620 mile break in period and a first service before you can do any sustained speeds and you shouldn’t go that fast before then.
      2. My opinion is that the Vespa could go faster than 80 but I think Piaggio limits that. I personally wouldn’t ride 70 for any sustained periods unless I had to. IMO 70 is interstate speeds and I don’t think it’s really meant for that for long periods of time. If you want to do that I would suggest a 400cc or higher scooter. Being near top speed around other traffic would make me nervous and is less safe imo.

Thanks so much for these videos - really love watching them. Just on the space under the seat, I've ordered the BigBoxScooter replacement part that should hopefully increase the capacity to fit a whole helmet. Would you give that a try do you think?

    • @TheFranticNomad
      @TheFranticNomad  Před 14 dny

I thought about it. Just too expensive for me for a piece of plastic plus I read somewhere it’s not ideal for engine airflow. Prefer my top case.

@@TheFranticNomad yeah, also a bit worried about airflow, but the company was saying they checked the temps and said it was fine. Will report back when mine arrives on my experiences! Also, price is ridiculous, but I guess there's not much competition...

Would love to know how it works out. More space under there would be nice!

Wondering if this has arrived yet and you've had a chance to try it out? Also, if you are in the USA how was the purchasing/shipping process for you? Cost aside I am curious about it.

      @@TheFranticNomad Hi there!
Of course, although I'll have to get back to you on that. I live in Switzerland, Geneva - and with similar cost considerations in mind - didn't want to pay the extra customs because we are outside of the EU. So because Geneva is so close to France, I ordered it to a friend just across the border, but as I got my vespa in the meantime, I've just been so distracted enjoying riding that that I haven't managed to pick it up! Also had loads of work going on at the moment. I had planned to pick it up tomorrow though, and will get back to you for sure!
Regarding the cost, I used a code by a different youtuber called OZETT, and using that code gave me around 10% off! So in total I payed 260 EURO, with free shipping. I totally get the costs concerns going up, with import duties to the US and such.. Will make sure to share my experiences to help you make a decision!
I also recently installed the Cardo Talkpack Edge on my helmet, and seeing the unit stick out on the side have a slight worry my shoei glamster helmet may be too wide. Lot's of things to try out still!
