Even if Marina intended it to be or not, "Forget" is clearly a sequel to "Teen Idle" to me.
Teen Idle is one of, if not THE most tragic and depressing song Marina's ever written, hinting she might've been through both depression and possibly even suicidal thoughts during her adolescence. FROOT, unlike her previous albums, is instead a much more positive album (I mean come on, the opening song is literally called "Happy"), and Forget shows how she's now coming out of her hinted depression, and wants to forget about it and her tragic past as a whole.
A lot of you people have also noticed the musical similarities to Teen Idle (especially around 2:14 - 3:00, the chord structure is next to identical to some parts of Teen Idle - you could even sing the melody of it if you'd want to). I don't know why some of you find this a bad thing, I think it's absolutely genius. I love how she has made a very different album from Electra Heart, but still manages to connect her songs this way, both musically and lyrically.
FROOT is an excellent record, and Forget has to be my favorite track right now!

I reeaaaally like Froot so far. I think it's got a really good vibe to it, really contrasts Electra Heart and The Family Jewels. This album (from what ive heard) is promoting positiveness and self help and idk for someone who knows what it's like to feel down in the dumps these songs are really nice to hear :)

I always found Marina's music to have a touch of the 80s in them, well at least certain songs, such as this. She's a great lyricist, writer & producer. Marina is a piece of art, with a tremendous story to tell.
I think a lot of this album has a very 80's-90's vibe. I really dig the sound and I can't wait to hear the rest!

folks, the heart on the cheek is done; I know she made an amazing concept and incredible lyrics in EH and TFJ but this is Froot, she is in her 28/29, now she is more mature and she learned a lot of things between the end of Electra Heart and the beginning of this phase, you can see it in the lyrics of this, or Happy or Immortal. They are filled with self-love, not like Electra Heart.

She's being a lot more sonically cohesive this time around. It generally makes for a better album but it does take more time to differentiate between the songs when you first listen to it. It shouldn't be that bad though since most of us would have listened to the first half of the album by the time it all comes out.

Just because this album isn't typical dance pop doesn't make it boring. There is something very organic and authentic about FROOT - it was recorded with a live band, Marina wrote every track by herself; it is a very quintessentially British sounding album, and I think a lot of the fans here complaining are from America where dance pop music is a much bigger force than indie music. FROOT is a stellar album, every track is ingenious and authentic sounding, in particular Solitaire, Savages, Froot, Immortal, I'm A Ruin, and Gold. You people really don't know what real music is.
