Heartbreaking, also let's have the reporters not walk in front of construction vehicles when they're there to clean up devastated places. She did that on purpose just to get a dramatic shot.
Before settlers moved into these areas, how did the Indigenous people deal with/ survive tornado season? Did they dwell in these areas or did they go to other geographical areas during the season? I’m really curious about how they survived it. We drove from the East Coast to the West Coast and going through Indiana, Missouri, Oklahoma and all of those states and even through to Texas and New Mexico all we saw was lightening and tornado alerts. It was scary. Couldn’t wait to get back to “ earthquake” California.
Earthquake, fire, and tsunami in some places, I assume. Living in the midwest, I often think how grateful I am that I don't really have to worry about wildfire risk. That is, until the rainy season comes and you only get 5-20 minutes warning to take shelter before your entire home and all of your belongings could be blown away. With you in it! Or be without electricity for a week or more because electric company technicians are busy restoring power for 60,000 other people that were hit by the same storm. Luckily, I live in a suburban area with lots of trees and uneven landscape. Once those storms cross the river though into IL, they usually go into turbo mode. Picking up all the moisture from water droplets or hail pelting the water. We also have high risk for flooding in many areas, but safe from that here too. Despite being quite close to the river.
you have to understand how rare it is to actually be in the path of one its like less than one percent with modern urban sprawl. Now consider that the indigenous were in much smaller developments and much more thinly populated so that chance goes down even further, they likely did not do anything. They just stayed put and most of the time the storm would miss them.
They were migratory people, not dumbasses who purposefully built towns in Tornado Alley and then have these stupid stories posted about them every few years. They didnt need to survive it.
Y’all calm down, as someone who regularly operates construction equipment like that one and much more, it’s actually extremely common for people to walk in front of moving equipment, plus he only really had to make a slight left to avoid her

Friday - many MASSIVE tornados this day, many wedge mile wide ones. Saturday- tornados big and they hit mostly at night. What most don’t know, many tornados ran parallel to each other at the same time and hit the same towns over and over again. The conditions Saturday is something we haven’t seen in decades. Probably very difficult, expensive, and switching over to tornado proof homes would take decades, and no government would probably put in the effort to make it happen.
@@firstdonuts It's not the governments responsibility to build a tornado proof home for anyone. You have to do that yourself. The way homes are built with cheap materials today is no wonder these tornados rip them apart anyway. I'm not being insensitive. I'm just being honest. I've seen how the way building structures have changed over the years. It's pathetic.
@@marvinhunt8276 I don't get what your point is. Are you suggesting people start tearing down their homes and building them new by themselves? Where would they live in the meantime? Do you know how to build a tornado proof house, cause I sure don't. Building a house requires education including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, etc. These are not things you learn over a few years. They are trades that take most decades to actually get good at, and that's just for one of those trades. Furthermore, people building homes have to know where to source materials, and how to meat government regulations. Finally, people actually have to have the time and money to build new homes and given most people in the states are making somewhere in the ballpark of 40k or less a year, it doesn't seem very reasonable for them to pay to replace their current homes that as you pointed out, are built with cheap materials, and take weeks if not years off of work to do so. The government is probably the only entity capable of contracting qualified workers on such a massive scale, to tear down and build tornado proof homes, while making sure they follow government regulations, and while providing housing to people who are transitioning to those tornado proof homes. But obviously, that would be expensive, and its unlikely when there are so many complicated factors at play regarding the economics of the housing market, the companies building homes, and the logistics of the effort all around. All of this doesnt even include the fact that if building tornado proof homes was easy and or cheap, we would already be doing it. Clearly whatever the limitation is, money or knowledge, its not as easy as you make it sound.
There is a house on the beach, that was the only one standing in Florida. That was cause the Homeowner went above minimum building code, to make it indestructible. All the other rich houses were flatten. Even heard a story about a house the survived a wild fire, it was all concrete no wood. So everyone was pissed, cause they lost there homes and this one survived standing. So it is possible, but it can be expensive. Just cause they build houses out of wood, does not make it the only material you can use to build a house remember that. Also that minimum code is all that is.
