This is my nephew's Rottweiler (Rufus, the large one) and mine (Lea), both 4 years old, playing. They play every day they are together. It's tug of war in the first part and wrestling in the second.
Loved this. Had Rotts since 1987. Didn't realize I missed the playing as much as watching this. My Last one is 12 now. I worry I'm too old (gonna be 56) to carry on w/the breed. But, Bless ya sharing :D
This reminds me of my wrestling matches with our Rottweiler. Sometimes I won and sometimes he won. It is unbelievable how precisely they control their bite force. I didn't even feel the teeth. And it always ended with a round of cuddling. The best buddy I ever had.
Rufus looks like my precious Rottweiler "X" who passed last May, and the little one looks like his sister "Miracle". They were from the same litter, but she was so much smaller. Thanks for this video, I love watching them play. They are such beautiful dogs.
Memories of my 3 decades of Rotties. I keep coming back again to this video. Brings me back to my "kids". Son and daughter I kept from the only litter. Kept the runt babies. 56 yrs old now, the runt babies don't always turn out the be small, nor timid. God bless people that understand Rotts. Not everyone does. Please adopt
This is great! What 2 beautiful Rottie pups! I actually pulled this up so my big ole 160 pound ( the most gentle, sweet, giant rottie pup} baby could watch it. Its hilarious watching his oh so familiar rottweiler expressions of confusion unfold lol! He (Enzo Pacino) loved this video as well! Thank you for sharing! I also agree 100% with Kitty! Enzo is the most loving, respectful, goofy, and obedient little baby ever! However he also does a great job of his of being a guard dog as well, but only to sketchy unfamiliar people that pose a threat to our property or his personal bubble. Rottweilers are the greatest!
She is more or less a rescue dog. She was going to be sent back to the pound because she was failing as a watchdog at an industrial compound. But more than that, I think, is that Rufus is very gentle. Once he accidentally hurt her when he was on top. She yelped and now he lets her "win" so he won't hurt her again.
I miss my first 2 Rotts. My favourite trait is the "Rotti purr." My girls were always happy and always purring. Scared alot of people who never had Rottis, until I explained the trait. Then their hesitation turned to laughing. Rottis are the best.
A Rottie Raised Properly,Taught Basic commands,Loved and played with will be part of your pack. They will Protect their own as part of the pack.Understanding Pack mentality will go along way to helping understand your dog. This is a large breed and someone needs to be Alpha.
Rottys are "horse-around" clowns. these babies are the most misunderstood breed of guard dog/family dog. I get down on the ground between my two while they play. I have never felt safer or more cared for with any other breed of dog.
You got that right. My Rottie girl Tegan was an angel on 4 paws. She always slept near me or in the hall outside all the family bedrooms. The day she passed at age 15 she managed to come in and guard the bathroom door when I took a shower. I have a 2 year old Rottie now and even though she is a complete goof ball she is the same way. At this very moment she is snoring next to me on the bed. I think she is dreaming. She runs in her sleep and squeaks. The cat is probably getting his comeuppance.
They really are. I had a pug before my Rottie and they have the reputation of being huge clowns, but I honestly think my Rottie is a bigger goof. With that being said they're incredibly intelligent and ready to protect at any moment. Such a fantastic breed.
My nephew trained Rufus. He wanted a large, scary-looking dog who would be completely gentle. I couldn't tell you how he did it, but I think he succeeded.
both of your dogs seems to be so healthy!!! My mike used to do tht wrestling and killing most of his toys....he is also a rottweiler/german shepherd. Huge and lovely!!!
awesome video, shows the true nature of rotties. Most people mistake the growling as a sign of aggression when in fact it is playful communication. I have two male's 1 year and 2 year old they always play like this, especially when they have just come back from a long walk and are wet.
Miss my rott.. when I watch these older videos I wonder at times if these dogs are still alive , my little terrier beagle mix is almost 17 years old now .
This is nothing. I've had Rotts for over 30 years and I had a pair of females that would get into the most epic playing matches ever. I had a acre property for them to charge around in. Morning and early evening, it was the same. They would charge and leap upon each other, wrestling in the grass, rolling, growling, lips bared, teeth flashing. To the outsider, it looked like a fight to the death, but they never hurt each other and would just sleep it off afterwards. They would have trashed a room like the one in the video.
I'm not a trainer but my guess is that the protection comes from some anxiety. Training might involve something like having other people approach, first without and then with other dogs, holding a treat. The approach will become associated with a treat. There might be some videos on that, or a local trainer could help. I try to introduce Lea to all dogs we meet on our walks and she is more calm about new dogs all the time, unless they are lunging themselves.
Does anyone have any tips on how i can raise a friendly and less protective rottie? I love them and accept that some protection will come naturally but i dont feel as though i require protection. But every other rottweiler trait seems perfect. Of course i am going to socialize well, but any ideas on what i should focus on? Any strategies? Thankss
Its always the girls them aggresive heffas look hiw she just bully him to the ground lol i love it they babies my gurl play all the time just bus out running ive never seen nothing like her just a big kid
i don't let my 2 play like this indoors, furniture gets knocked over, dry wall gets cracked doors get broken ! you can check them out in: ROTTWEILER MMA
OMG, so adorable! reminds me of when our two GSDs play - seems scary to anyone not familiar with their play, but it's adorable when you get to know them :D
We don't really know. We know Rufus is full blooded. Lea's pedigree is uncertain -- she is a rescue dog -- and she may have something else in her in addition to Rottweiler, maybe German Shepherd. Maybe the different sexes have something to do with it. We know Lea is small for a Rottweiler but not completely out of range for the breed. They are not at all related.
I have four questions for the owner, as my husband and I are thinking of adopting a Rottweiler puppy. 1. Were they extremely difficult to train compared to other breeds? 2. Did they ever show unprovoked signs of aggression towards anyone? 3. I only work part time, so I would be home most days. Do they become destructive if left alone on a daily basis? 4. Does this breed have any major health issues?
I don't know how they compare with other breeds in difficulty of training because I haven't had that much experience with other breeds. They are very smart and so pick up things quickly. They are also big, strong, and strong-willed, so you have to get control or they will control you! They have never shown aggression toward any people. I have never seen either of them so much as growl at another person, regardless of the age of the person or what the other person was doing. Lea is a self-appointed guardian of infants, which is sweet to see. Lea is aggressive toward cats and to strange small adult dogs who lunge and bark at her. I have had to have her trained to get control over that. Rufus can be left alone in the house with no problem. Lea can get into things when she is left alone (boredom, I hear) so I have had to child-proof the house when I leave her. She is not wantonly destructive--she just wanders around looking for things to eat. She learned how to get into the freezer and the fridge. The breed can have hip displasia.
The pretty boy on the right is the older Alpha right? Gentle play. My 2 look like King Kong & T-Rex. It alarms others but it’s their pre-dinner Play Time. The Guttural Rottie Rumble.. This is cute. 👍🏼
Beautiful pups I’m a Rottie mama. They are so majestic and powerful. I’m head over heels for the breed
Loved this. Had Rotts since 1987. Didn't realize I missed the playing as much as watching this. My Last one is 12 now. I worry I'm too old (gonna be 56) to carry on w/the breed. But, Bless ya sharing :D
Hello were you able to carry on?
This reminds me of my wrestling matches with our Rottweiler. Sometimes I won and sometimes he won.
It is unbelievable how precisely they control their bite force. I didn't even feel the teeth.
And it always ended with a round of cuddling.
The best buddy I ever had.

When they get old they don'y play so much, garanteed
What great looking Rotti's, they are without a doubt the best breed EVER!!... once you have had a Rotti you cannot gave any other breed, they own US!

They're gorgeous, what lovely shiney coats - lovely to see happy dogs =]
Ils sont vraiment trop beaux magnifiques
Thanks for sharing! As a new rott owner, its really helpful to see what normal play is. Thank you!
Rufus looks like my precious Rottweiler "X" who passed last May, and the little one looks like his sister "Miracle". They were from the same litter, but she was so much smaller. Thanks for this video, I love watching them play. They are such beautiful dogs.

"Don't think you're playing with that rope by yourself!"
Lea weighs about 80 pounds and Rufus weighs about 120. Rufus has had to adjust to keep from hurting Lea.
I can’t wait to get my credit card pay completely down so I can finally get one of these beautiful dogs
Who needs TV with this sort of entertainment?
so cute!! i love how nicely they play with each other
Rottys are "horse-around" clowns. these babies are the most misunderstood breed of guard dog/family dog. I get down on the ground between my two while they play. I have never felt safer or more cared for with any other breed of dog.

They seem like a family dog which is harmless right

Beautiful dogs
They are so beautiful and strong :)
Man, the big one is exemplary how a big male Rottweiler should behave. I sure would like to know how you teach your dog.. Really impressive, hats off.
My nephew trained Rufus. He wanted a large, scary-looking dog who would be completely gentle. I couldn't tell you how he did it, but I think he succeeded.

That's the way we play
Lovely dogs 💗 Lovely breed ❤
LOVELY
HellaFlush070, sorry it has taken so long to answer your question. I had trouble getting through. Rufus weighed 120 when the video was taken.

they are really adorable. i have a 5 year old rott named gus who looks like rufus.

They are both gone now, the smaller one just in late December.
@@diannet7187 thanks for your reply . If only dogs were able to live longer ..
That Girl < changed my life in that before Amy I thought that a Rotty was bad news, man oh man she changed that.
Beautiful babies!!! Tom usa ❤ them

Ok who cares? The video is titled Rottweilers playing. not “most epic playing match ever”.
Good looking dogs
NICE COAT ON THEM ROTTWEILERS

OMG, so adorable! reminds me of when our two GSDs play - seems scary to anyone not familiar with their play, but it's adorable when you get to know them :D
Lea is a rescue dog? That explains why she can beat the bigger dog so easily in wrestling.

Cool. That's a big boy.
Lol that's awesome!

So funny but can be a little destructive when they are bored and there is no one around to stop them. Would i change that not a chance love the breed.
Vejo muitos rotts no youtube, mas os seus são os mais lindos...principalmente esse macho, é show de rott!!!

Nice video but why have you uploaded only one vid over all these years?
I tried to take a few more videos, but they were all pretty much the same. The large one, Rufus, died last year. Very sad. Lung cancer.
3:45 male sight has no price
Hahaha so cute

He eats the dry Kirkland Signature food from Costco, usually the lamb flavor, plus odds and ends of table scraps and treats.

This is a favorite video for my male and female Rotties! The male barks and the female whines while watching! (They only like videos of Rotties)

Lea has been spayed so it's no more puppies for her.
I wonder how heavy Rufus is.

Only the loose sofa cushions.
