Today we’re comparing the Apple iPhone 15 vs the Samsung Galaxy S23. As a tech content creator, this is probably the most dangerous video that I can make. But I have extensively used each and today I will talk about the similarities and differences between these two great phones to ultimately help you decide which is best for you!

iPhone 15 or Galaxy S23, which would you choose and why?
Can't decide 😅
You really can't settle this fight. The real fight according to me is iOS vs Android. That's the real choice you gotta make. Then your choices are clear. Personally I like iOS over android because of its reliability in day-to-day tasks. And someone might like Android because of the flexibility it adds. Don't like Samsung? you can always choose a pixel or a Sony or something else. There's always choice.
I would any time go with an Iphone over any android if i had the money it takes 😅 because of its Camera capabilities and optimization in performance. 😇
@jemwell
I'll choose the Samsung S23 over the Iphone 15. I say this mainly because features-wise, it just has more capabilities over the latter. Honestly, I think if not for the reason of being a status symbol and having a good eco system between its other devices, the Iphone is a no-go for me.
It's a hard choice, but I think I would go with the iPhone. Photos are important for me, my gf has the s22 and I'm not impressed comparing her photos to my pixel 4. Having 24MP images is huge imo
I’ve had my S23 for 6 months now. Extremely pleased! Love everything about it. Especially cameras! I take pictures of kids for work everyday for parents. All cameras come in handy. Sometimes I need a wide angle, sometimes a zoom. And everything looks gorgeous! Pictures are light, fresh and beautiful. I switched from iPhone XS Max and can totally recommend!
I agree with you. Why no one doesn't show photos with disabled scene optimization to get natural colors the question was rhetorical
you were using your iphone xs max since 2018? I have a s20, but with 2 years its dying in all ways. I know s23 is better than its predecessors, but I am almost buying an Iphone15 because I am purely scared of s23 not lasting
s23's camera disgusting 🤮
@prfctgreen No, I had been using XS Max for 2 years till May 2023
@@heaveriewhat's wrong with your s20? I have the s20 FE and don't have any problems with the experience itself. I just ordered the S23 though because I got a great deal for black Friday
S23 all day. Not even close. Still a better offering even as "last gen". 60 hz on a $800 phone is a slap in the face.
Why is it last gen? Its the latest samsung
@@aimenaldarkhobi8366He means the iPhone 15, it still use last year A16 bionic chip.
@@dikkado he was talking about the samsung being last gen
Jealous.
😂😂
The S23 just feels natural to hold, it surprised me the first time I held one.
True! Just perfect for one hand usage!
as an iphone 15 user... I agree to this
The S23 actually can go up to 1750 nits in brightness. I use it and should know. I keep it on adaptive brightness but even without it, its still pretty bright.
You are right, my mistake
@@DionMedia All good 👍
Great, thanks
This should get pinned
This is by far the best comparison review video I've seen on CZcams. The way you talk about the ergonomics, the displays, the photos. You talk about and explain differences that actually matter and that people will notice. Very informative.
Thanks for your kind words!
@DionMedia No problem! Do you think there'll be a video on the S24? And comparing it to the S23? I'm looking to upgrade from the S20 to something newer.
I must say that the line between Android and IOS is getting much thin and blur as both are reliable and at the same time powerful. Both strive in very specific area of update both in system and the tech around it. Can’t go wrong with either one. Anyway, great presentation of both comparison.
In Russia, the android operating system is much better than ios. Because of the sanctions, we cannot use apple pay and download prohibited applications, such as banking applications. So I sold the iphone 13 mini and bought the galaxy s23. Now I can download absolutely my favorite apps for free, even those that disappeared on the iphone due to sanctions, I can install emulators and much more. Thanks to the Russian mirpay application, I can pay with my smartphone simply by applying it to the terminal. So ios can become a pumpkin at a click if the sanctions want it.
You can't go wrong with either of these phones. Whatever you pick, chances are it's more than good enough for your daily use, except for iMessage.
@@goldstein10493 do you mean that iMessage is bad?
@@goldstein10493only in the USA. In Europe no-one care about imessage
@goldstein10493 you only say that because there's an apple on the back. You can buy redmi and Motorola phones with specs that kills the iphone for same price lol. Any rational non apple fanboy knows iphone 15 with 2 cameras is totally limited. Phones for same price has 4 and 5 cameras lol . It's like saying that you can't go wrong with a Gucci headband compared to Adidas 😂
@laaaably
Appreciate that you really divided each category so it's easier for us to determine which phone is perfect for us because at the end of the day, it always boils down to our own preferences. As for me, I prefer the iphone 15 because I also love creating contents.
In terms of overall looks and feel, I will go with the S23. The dynamic island is a real eye sore when watching videos and playing games.
Love it or hate it, a pill shape hole is neither dynamic nor an island.
@@unholydonutslol true. At least it’s a step up from the notch and it has software implementation. The hole punch isn’t dynamic at all it’s just there and it’s there on every mainstream android flagship in 2023. Boooooringggggg
@gudooooo
That USB C port is probably the best change for me. Carrying only one type of cable for all gadgets is just that convenient.
@jemwell
My favorite feature for the Samsung S23 is the 120 Hz display refresh rate. It makes going through things zippy and buttery smooth. For something that's on the same price level as the Iphone 15, it's something that it has over it. I understand that Apple saves the feature for it's "Pro" line, but I honestly think it should already be available for the entry level Iphone 15 since the competition can do it and even more.
Even if they don't want to implement 120 hz on the base model , it's fine . But atleast they should've had 90 hz . Like come on , a flagship phone released in 2023 doesn't have 90 hz ? I hope the 16 would've 90 hz atleast .
Yeah, I totally agree. Apple should at least do something like that. 😊
s23's camera = trash
The day the base model iphone has 120hz screen is the day I return to ios
@@Akcy09 wondering why iPhone consistently would always get eliminated in every blindfold camera test on social media 😂😂😂
@renierdale
I really think both phones are very good in their own ways. But based on practicality, I am really liking the output of the iPhone 15 in its camera, especially due to its consistency with the photo and video quality it provides.
It just makes life so much easier especially to those casual users that lack knowedge in advanced camera features that needs tweaking in Android like Samsung S23.
Both phones are good but I’ll prefer the Samsung S23 because it’s customizable and the higher refresh rate as well ❤️
I perfer the Face ID and outdoor brighter display.
I prefer the ultrasonic fingerprint. My iphone 13 Pro seems to struggle when I am outside walking. I have to adjust either the phone or by tilting my head just to unlock it.
@@NoWayJose0_0those are both on Samsung, too.
@@Gurenn83 should re do the Face ID . I have no issues and it’s always sunny outside
@@NoWayJose0_0but your phone is slow.
Both are gooe for different reasons imo, it also depends which fits the users more and what they see as much more valuable, although in a more neutral pov, s23 has the best value overall being a phone that is comparable to iphone 14 pro and comes with better deals too
Even iPhone 13 is better than S23 in most aspects
just asking but what aspects?@@Akcy09
I got an S23 for my birthday 2 days ago and I love it so far. I have zero complaints.
Belated congrats and enjoy that great phone
I have a S23 and I love it.
S23 is so sturdy, yet feels so light... It also is much better at heat regulation. It runs so cool.
Staawwp! How can you? Be fair. iPhones barely heat. Samsung heats more. Period.
@@BeeNxt *samsung with exynos heats more not snapdragon variants..... even my 3 year old Galaxy A71 barely heats

The S23's quick share feature is underrated ❤
I know iphones got airdrop but I'm a Samsung Guy
Man very fast!!! my girlfriend and i use it ver often
and it can send stuff on iphone too, via qr code or link attached
you can actually fix every issue mentioned with the samsungs camera by going to settings or searching it up on youtube, i use the S23 and would personally take it over the 15 anyday, being that one ui 6 is coming out soon aswell as android 14
S23’s camera is trash
@runningwithem I think my favourite feature is 3rd party widgets on the lock screen, which i guess is more iOS overall rather than iPhone 15. For samsung s23 I love the good lock app and ability to customise the keyboard and fonts and things. It's the little things!
Personally the form factor and design of S23 is just great , Iphone also looks great but S23 looks more sturdy
Is it worth the switch to Samsung? Is it as smooth as iOS?
@@DonnieChoi Samsung improved S23 series very much than the old samsung phones and it's running like buttery smooth
@@DonnieChoiif u want to keep your phone for 5 years and keep it as a reliable backup for another 3 years then iPhone is the way to go. That Samsung will crap out and start lagging in 3 years max.

I like the rounder feel of the s23 but, the longer support for the iPhone is very compelling.
Samsung supports their phones for 4 years now
@@SparkSpaceStill can’t beat Apple though. 5 years old XR and XS still get the latest iOS version, and 8 years old 6S still gets security updates.
@katadoto
Content consumption vs creation. Perfectly said. Since I would love to film myself drawing with iPhone id pick that over the Samsung
W vid. I'm looking forward to the camera review. The sponsor cases look clean.
I was bored last year so I gave Samsung a chance with the S22 Ultra even though I have an iPad and a Mac. I have been dealing with random bugs and then the worst thing happened. The Samsung wouldn’t work while on mobile data more than half the time. It would show it’s connected to 5G but nothing would load.
I tried all the troubleshooting until it was suggested that I do a factory reset. I shouldn’t have to do something so drastic just to make the phone do what it should have no problem doing. This all happened during the 15 launch so I preordered a green 15. It’s been working great and no issues with mobile data. I’ll never purchase a Samsung again.
I don't know if you caught it but he's talking about the s23 not the phone that you have.
Maybe only you have that problem, my mom's s22 is still perfect and works great.The review is about s23 not s22
@meloditm
Great video! Tbh I really like that they added dynamic island to the standard iphone models and the colors are so prettyy
Thanks
Wait this is not a fair comparison, the iPhone 15 is a flagship meant for 2024 (because it was released Q4 this year instead of the start of this year) so it should be compared with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24
My favourite feature on the iPhone 15 is the voice isolation feature and the Samsung s23 is the feel on the palm of your hands. It feels premium
Hi Dion, you have such knowledge. I am blown away with your review.
I appreciate that!
I enjoyed your video , thank u for ur time !
My old Mac and phone run on 60hz so I could care less about the higher refresh rate. I looked at the base and pro model iphones at best buy and definitely noticed the difference though. I'll take the higher resolution on the iphone 15 over S23 anyday even though I was always a fan of samsung phones. My S8 is six years old and has a nicer display than the base model S23 and I have no interest in paying more for the plus version because that larger screen size is not something I'm interested in so I'm tempted to buy an iphone 15 this time.
Did you buy the iPhone 15?
3:00 dude, you pronounce that 'essential feauture' with that eyebrow movement as if you're doing a tv ad :D:D:D joke aside, great video! and honestly, you would be great actor in an ad :)
:), that is what happens if Dutch people speak English
From a hardware & performance standpoint, both phones are great phones & fast enough for most people. It really does come down to one thing: do you prefer the iOS ecosystem or the Android ecosystem
This. At the end of the day, people will choose between the two based on their preferrence of iOS or Android.
And camera. İphone better too much
@@Akcy09 not by too much.. in fact, iPhones' would consistently get eliminated each year in MKBHD's blind smartphone camera comparison..this tells us that iPhone's color science is not what most people prefer. Moreover, to say that iPhone is too much better is nonsense.. Flagship phones are just great cameras, it will always go down to the skill level and creativity of the editor...
@@davidnaromal4720 The iPhone 15's camera is excellent in terms of color, detail and balance. S23 is simply terrible. This is clearly visible.
@@davidnaromal4720 i see lots of influencers, famous people use iphones for their instagram photos, highly because it retains skin tone and color, but samsung is catching up ngl
I definitely like the s23 but the upgraded camera performance on iphone 15 is hard to ignore. And in the lonf term the performance of iphone will be better(if apple doesn't degrage it😂).
Great comparison, both phones are good. I am blown away with your review!
Happy to hear that!
My favorite features on the iPhone 15 are the camera and the USB C!
_.chromelie._ . I do like both of them, but samsung should install a mute switch like one plus and apple. Looking to upgrade from an oneplus 8 to the s23, and the thing holding me back is the mute switch
Got the s23 and it feels good on the hand, I am bummed that the screen is only 1080p.
@alippi.fed
I love that the iPhone still makes a 60hz display look really smooth, but that 120hz on the s23 still takes the cake for me. Hopefully we'll get a high refresh rate on the base model iPhones in the next few years!
Thanks for this video, Dion! ☺️
Appreciate your reaction!
I'm a big fan of your tech reviews and often rely on your insights before making a purchase. I'm currently considering the Samsung S23, but I've come across some reports online about potential overheating issues during everyday use.
I was hoping you could share your experience with the S23, particularly regarding any heating problems. Have you encountered any overheating issues during your review process? If so, under what circumstances did they occur, and how severe were they?
Knowing your perspective on this would be incredibly helpful in making my decision. I trust your reviews and appreciate your honest feedback
@ciddekkers, I’m very exited for the new features op the 15 such like the action button and usb-c. I now have an 11 pro so I really need to upgrade. The filming to a harddrive is handy for upcoming concerts, btw Good Luck to everyone!
Sort of boggles my mind how in 2014 Apple decided to make their iPhones larger and as such to make them more comfortable, moved away from the sharp, square sides of the iPhone 5. Then they seem to have forgotten all about that with phones starting in 2020 and go back to sharp square sides. Glad they are finally moving to the curves again. Please don't return to squares! Some people like to go caseless and they just are not comfortable especially on bigger phones.
Great comparison, I'm a S23 user but I'm impressed with the details of the photos on the iPhone 15. I have to say though that many reviewers put emphasis on the software updates but not many mention that after the updates end android phones last much longer with app updates. After you download your last iOS update the phone or ipad quickly becomes obsolete, not receiving more updates on the apps and making you to upgrade.
The phone will be a dozen years old by then. Most people will upgrade before that time.
@@blacbraun using that same logic, then it's irrelevant the difference between software updates from Samsung and Apple, which I think it is. My point is that I see many people saying how relevant software updates are but I think 4-5 years of OS updates are enough for most people, more than that is just a gimmick.
@@WarchiefTomiu gotta think about ppl buying used iPhones. If they don’t have allot of money to spend and they need an iPhone NOW, then their cheapest option is the XR for under $200… if it stopped getting updates this year they would be kinda screwed, right? Thankfully the xr and xs will be supported for another 1-2 years.
i think you can argue the same about s23 though as android apps last longer @@bigredii2253

Hey Dion,
have you actually found yourself using the action button? I do think the switch was quite iconic, but at the same time the action button does have more features. What's your opinion on it?
I tried the IPhone 15 and I really liked it but I choose to stick with the S23 since I'm familiar with the phone, I'll give iPhone another shot next year
I have traded my 6 months old S23U for iPhone 15+. Android was complicated and far too many options which I don't want to learn or have no time to explore. Honestly S23U is a beast but I'm liking IPhone 15+ for its camera and simplicity. If you are not heavily invested in ios ( watch airpods or macbook) don't bother owning iPhone. Galaxy is very good. To me am already heavily invested and my friends circle is already using ios.
@@sunandks well said man, as u grow older, and become more busy, the iphone is just a better deal for us, its simplicity and functionality for day to day usage is just perfect, android has lots of whatnots whenever doing similar tasks compared to iphone, but u cant go wrong with both, i just love the camera quality on my iphone, i dont look dark, nor yellowish haha
Thanks this is helpful as someone that wants camera comparison, and might switch from an iphone. Can you compare the 15 pro max and s23 ultra
Thanks for the videos the iPhone 15 camera is amazing
Well great video, the comparison was top notch how you split the topics and nit picked each thing within it props for that and being an android user, i would prefer the S23 due to the small size and powerful chipset along with the premium feel of the whole package. Even still the optimisation and support of the iPhone 15 is just on another level. So cant pick a side but being a tech head myself who does a lot of sideloading and stuff, S23 is the way 😁😁
Thanks for the feedback!
I went from a S22 to a 15 Pro and I’m not disappointed and it’s been awhile since I’ve had an iPhone
@romantic.badboy
I love the non-pro models. They really fit my use case. Probably the fact that it shoots better photos than the previous pro model is amazing. Also love that matte finish! I just wish the refresh rate on the non-pro ones are at 120hz at that price range. But I can overlook that because of how well-optimized everything is in the Apple ecosystem.
I think S23 goes up to 1750 nits brightness
It does idk why he's getting info wrong
I love the iPhone 15’s dynamic island feature and I don’t much care for the 120 hz so that’s the one for me.

Thanks you, nice of you to say!
I already have iPhone 15 and planning to buy s23/24 as secondary phone just for social media and banking & investment usage and the iPhone for receiving and making calls both personal and business.
The most difficult part of having two phones is receiving calls so when you put that in only one phone it’s so much convenient

I’m so unsure, I have an iPhone 11 and want to update, I really like iPhone 15 pink and s23 lavender and its camera. Samsung is like 300 dollars cheaper than the 15 too but the 15 is so gorgeous and I’m so used to iOS. I don’t know which one to pick
Most iPhone users don’t even notice the 60hz display let alone are even aware of the concept of high refresh rate, Ios makes up for the 6ohz with smooth animations.
both phones are really good...i thilk i'll choose iphone 15 because of it's camera and it's ecosystem. i think the voice isolation and the face ID are great in the every day use and overall IOS it's a better all around ecosystem.
i guess you haven't tried the Samsung Ecosystem. It works better for me. All flagship devices these days are really great, it really comes to personal preference...
@chixnbling
I prefer the screen on the s23, with its better color saturation and much better refresh rate - yes the screen brightness is hgiher on the iphone, but I dont really prefer using my phone extensively outdoors, under the direct sunlight.
The iPhone 15 is the biggest upgrade 🎉
🤔
Samsung s23 👌🔥
@jatin.gidwani
I would say both phones are pretty good for their price range, but I would say the design, form factor, 120hz gives s23 a bit of a upper hand which are it's best features. Although I really like the new iphone 15 this year, it might not seem so on paper but it feels like a good upgrade over its two predecessor(non pro) models.
Great video Dion
I also like how much information I can see on notification bar next to camera
I love everything about it. The rounded frames, the colors, the camera upgrade, the USB-C (as an Android user that will make a lot easier the transition to iphone). Not forgetting to mention that I'm obsessed with the dynamic island and the action button... I'm really looking forward of what developers will do to upgrade its use in apps or future updates!!
@crsmontoya
I have a Xiaomi X3 pro and i can set my phone in 60hz or 120hz. If I set my phone in 60hz, there's a slight difference indeed to 120hz if you pay attention to it. If you don't pay attention to it there's no need to worry about the hertz. So i think there is just not a very much difference but yeah okay, if you do, i should prefer s23
@lolsjols
Favourite feature coming to the iPhone 15 is the dynamic island. Great to see the regular iPhone now has that feature. S23 has better value than the iPhone 15 because you get snapdragon chip, 120 Hz and the extra camera being the telephoto.
120hz agree
But chipset sucks comparing to the iphone
And cam. Overall iphone is good point shoot, dinamic range, video, cinematic. Others
Every one is talking about customization. What will u customize after getting samsung.
Probably there is nothing to do. Lock screen available on iphone is better than samsung. And home screen who costimize home screen
iPhone's processor and camera are much superior
Amazing comparison video as i own a s23... Keep up the good work buddy.
Thanks, will do!
I vote for that Operating System OS video you mentioned at the end. You said to let you know, so I am. I want more solid Android vs. iOS opinions.
Thanks for letting me know. And more to come of course
@MyFavoriteVegan
Prefer Samsung for the split screen, director's view and how customizable it is. I'd definitely give an iPhone a try, though I've never used one before.
@s2w_ie
loved this in depth analysis on both phones being able to observe both phones in each category. but overall having the s23 looks like a better choice because you can get a better design and screen the only thing that can change that decision is the video recording of the iphone but all in all both phones are awesome it is only up to the user if they are an android or ios person
S23’s camera and audio’s trash
Very nice comparison, but what about the picture quality on the AMOLED screen on S23, does it better compared iPhone 15?
There the exact same but iphone is a little brighter
Finally I find one and the only person who compares I15 to S23. I have note 20 and I am looking for smaller phone, good video and zoom lens.
@mjmerces
imo, the final question comes to personal preference on the UI, since both os's can deliver an undoubtedly great experience across these devices. I've been a fan of OneUI since it's launch and appreciate how much it has improved throughout these few years. iOS on the other hand, for me was already pretty much solid when one ui launched and it got even better these days, now with more and more customization.
This is a really good comparison review.
Thank you
i would like to see a comparison between s23 and iPhone 15 in terms of the Operating System. atm i'm using an s23 which i bought in April for 769€. but how things are probably look for the future i will be either way forced to buy an Exynos version of a future Galaxy S class model or i switch to an iPhone Pro model. i like the small 6.1 form factor so the s2x Ultra is no option for me. for what I've seen so far i like the iPhone 15 Pro very much. i definitely want a 120hz display so the non Pro versions are no option for me. so how's the difference between Samsung's OneUi and iOS?
One of my favorite features or iPhone 15 pro is USBS or dynamic island
Close enough in features and specs to the point where most things for casuals like me (the majority) It all comes down to preference. If you prefer IOS over Android OS then of course you’d go with an iPhone or the other way around. I personally don’t see a huge need to 120hz display mainly because when you’re sitting on your couch mindlessly scrolling through TikTok or instagram it really doesn’t matter weather or not you have 120hz or 60hz because you really aren’t going to notice a huge difference. Personally I’d take an iPhone 15 just because im already in the ecosystem and strongly prefer IOS over android OS.
Watching this on my S23 and I'm very happy about it 😂
Hey can you try doing unboxing videos. And I never seen someone shows how the basic apps look and differences using the keyboard and other basic features that tends to get overlooked.
On accassion I do unboxing videos. And thanks for your other suggestions
My 14 PM does take a lot better pictures than my S23+ and the S23+ does have a bit of lag when playing games
How’s the shutter lag on the S23? I’m worried about going back to Samsung from iPhone because of the camera. I miss all the functionality of android
Nothing to worry about the shutter lag. They fixed since One ui 5.1
@@kfx3907yea they updated my phone and the shutter lag feels better now

My favourite features of the iPhone 15 Pro are the USB-C, the curved edges and the new chip which give it a 6-7 year longevity. But the S23 refresh rate is nice compared to the iPhone 15.
Kinda funny to see how iPhone users call USB-C as a feature😅
@kfx3907 they used to call it android charger😂😂😂, they should keep the same energy. Please can i borrow your android?😂

Tbh, my Galaxy S9 and iPhone 7+ still lives up to date. Both phones are being used by my relatives with casual usage of games and streaming movies. They still perform pretty well and they have their differences.
But I still prefer to be on the iPhone side. Still insane that security updates are still rolling out on the 7+ and gaming performance is still good. Tho battery health of devices is not the best given the years of existence.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
I’m going to get the iPhone SE 2022. Like the small form factor.
The matte black iPhone 15 is the best to me. That’s the one I’d chose if I was getting one but yh
I have an iPhone 12 which should I get
I’ve used both. Photo algorithm of apple is awesome.
iPhone 15 all the way. For a while now I have been buying old pro versions years after their release, and this has served me well.
For the first time I am going to buy a brand new iPhone 15 because of the type C port, its shelf life and resale value. I currently have a Samsung S10+ but I also use a MacBook Air M1 which has a capped refresh rate of 60hz.
For most people, these so called pro features don't really matter and go unnoticed.
great video as always.....
Thanks as always!
The form factor and camera of both phones are great, especially for people with small hands. But I prefer the iPhone 15 XD
@rarescnistor
I would go for the iPhone 15. My favorite feature is its camera. iPhone cameras have been pretty much the ones to beat lately, at least when it comes to video. The videos it takes are just the best you can get from a phone.
