  • Jeremy, from the Guillette Group, takes you on a drive from downtown Banner Elk to Beech Mountain Ski Resort. Banner Elk is known as a foody town with many great restaurants. This area within the High Country in NC is very popular. There is year-round appeal as the summer has amazing temperatures. Visitors and owners of their mountain homes enjoy hiking, mountain biking, many festivals and more. The fall features amazing foliage and of course the winter brings skiing at the Beech Mountain Ski Resort.
In town, you have Sorrentos, Stonewalls, Bayou Smokehouse and Grill, Banner Elk Cafe and Tavern, LP on Main and so many more. That's a lot for a small town!
We pass Lees-McRae College and Bodegas a great tappas-style restaurant before we make our way up Beech Mountain. At the top, we pass Pinnacle Inn and Klonteska. There is the Brickoven pizza restaurant a dog park and a sledding hill, you also have a few more restaurants like Holy Smokes BBQ. Bullwinkles, Alpen Restaurant and Mi Jalisco Mexican Grill. There is also a new Atlantic Ale House with some great craft beer on tap. And, whoc an forget Fred's? Fred's mercantile and deli is a small general store and deli. Knows as the best breakfast on Beech Mountain. You definitely need to check out Fred's!
As we approach Beech Mountain Ski Resort, you have Fraziers Tavern and Grill and a great coffee spot at Poppy's Coffee Shop. You'll see references to the Land of Oz all over. There is an old amusement park at the summit that opens a few times each year for tours and the hiking trails at the top are the emerald outback trails.
