"Come and Get Your Love" is a song by the Indigenous rock band Redbone. It was released as the lead single from their album "Wovoka" in 1973. The song was written by band member Lolly Vegas and produced by Lolly and his brother Pat Vegas, who were both members of Redbone.
The song features a distinctive blend of rock, funk, and Native American influences, with its catchy melody and energetic rhythm making it a standout hit of the 1970s. "Come and Get Your Love" reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States and achieved international success as well.
The song's lyrics are about a man expressing his desire for someone to come and be with him, promising love and happiness. The upbeat and infectious nature of the song, coupled with its memorable chorus, contributed to its enduring popularity. Over the years, "Come and Get Your Love" has been featured in various films, television shows, and commercials, ensuring its legacy as a classic rock staple. - Hudba
You missed the Native dance before this started, very impressive,
This was video from the live version synced to the album version, the live version had the dancing and the audio was live.
Yeah, I haven't seen this without the dance before. That was a bit disappointing.
Is that what was going on? It looked like Midnight Special set, they were dressed the same, but something just seemed different. The dance intro, the la las, and the fadeout
@@bbollig9288 Party Pooper.
@@jimwilcox2964 Something was off for sure.
You should go back and watch the entire video. They dance. Super cool.
Guardians of the Galaxy had this song in the soundtrack and revived the songs popularity, and everyone realizing Redbone were Native Americans
The dance was great. Go back and watch it.
Shout out to all first nations peoples ❤ this song/band
Please watch the entire video with the Native American dance before the song. It's so cool.
The brothers were Yaqui, Shoshone as well as Mexican heritage. The full video shows their tribal dance at the beginning which is really cool
I grew up in the 70s/80s & this song was huge, huge, huge in the 70s. On that radio all the time. So cool that they performed in their Native American clothing on Midnight Special. Until they did that, most people had no idea they were Native American/Mexican. Iconic song.
This is one of those songs that you can’t get out of your head all day after hearing it. Very catchy.
The group got its name from the actual term "redbone", as describe in the Wikipedia snippet (below):
The word "redbone" is a Cajun term for a mixed-race person, which the band adopted to signify their mixed ancestry. The Vasquez-Vegas brothers were of Yaqui, Shoshone, and Mexican heritage. The band often alluded to Cajun and New Orleans culture in their lyrics and performing style.
RIP Lolly!
This was a huge hit in the early 70’s. We were all vibing to this back in the day!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
I watch this over and over and I agree the dance at the beginning is well worth the watch. Their performance history is really cool as lounge singers in Vegas!!!
Brothers Pat and Lolly Zegas were in high demand as session and TV musicians they played on many projects in the late 50's and through the 70's
They were the first native American band to reach the Top 5 in Billboard. Cone and Get Your Love was a RIAA certified gold single
Redbone has been around since 1970 (and they were great back then). The song by them that you MUST hear is “Maggie”. I promise you will not be disappointed.
Maggie - Redbone | The Midnight Special
I am one=eighth Cherokee and this just thrilled me when it came out! Roller skated to it in the 70's!
Same! Grandmother born on reservation in Oklahoma. I am not much but proud of what part I am. I too gravitate to this song.
Cindy Simpson…I just have to say, my sister is named Cindy & our maiden name is Simpson. LoL! Love this song!👍🌸🌸
Nice seeing you again @ Cindy Simpson!👍💖
@@kathyrizzi8754 small world! 🙂
It's just as awesome today as it was in 1974. I was 14 years old and watched it live on the Midnight Special (never missed that show!). Timeless greatness! Redbone was ground breaking at the time and we were all there for it. This song has been saved as a favorite on my playlist. I listen to it often just for the happiness it brings, and it transports me back to the best times of my life. Glad they got rediscovered by whole new generations with Guardians of the Galaxy. Don't dis us boomers y'all, we had it all and we had fun!!!
I was 11 years of age when this song was released, and I remember how popular it was.
i was wondering how old you were thanks.

Well now you know.

I was a kid when this was out and never knew this was a native band, but listening and watching you can hear it clearly. What a great song.
Please please revisit this and watch the entire video 💚 Timeless song 🎶🎵
They were studio musicians from the north west Jimmy Hendrix told them they should start their own band.
You should listen to the song Rumble by Link Wray who was an indigenous guitar player in the 1950s and was very influential in the world of rock and roll.
Aho!. The Witch Queen Of New Orleans is another good one by Redbone.
Yes indeed 👍🏽
The Midnight Special. I recall watching this when it first aired...already knew the song as it was on the radio. As a young girl, I thought the guy in black was so Handsome! And I can remember dancing to the song in front of the t.v.., and so glad my parents were on a mini vacation and I had the place to myself. Had the 1 small speaker in the t.v. cranked up quite loud...lol.
Takes me back to the 70's INSTANTLY!!!! Summer days in the mountains, looking at pretty girls, breathing the crisp clean air... 😍
Back in 1971 my band got to play a rock festival with them in Florida. They were great!!!
Bravo for reacting to this song! One of the few charting Native American Bands, and one of the best songs that came out of the 70’s ❤🔥
I was a kid when this song was a hit and it was BIG and everywhere for a while. The only Native American band with a hit song
I can't hear this song now without thinking about the Guardians of the Galaxy with Star Lord doing his little dance to this song in the opening scene.
This video is missing the intro which was important. That mustache is called a Foo Man Chu.
Native Indian Band
"Voodoo Queen of New Orleans" was their other big hit.
"Witch Queen of New Orleans"
This song was everywhere!! Love it and the rarity of an all Native band!! They rocked it and I didn't feel like they ever got their 💐 Super talented! ❤
EDIT: real bummer this video was so chopped. 😶
Back in the 70s, we just heard the song on the radio; there were no videos. Unless you caught somebody live on The Midnight Special or a similar show or bought the album, you had no idea what the band looked like. But I have always loved the song.
I owned this 45!
NPR just interviewed the last living member. They wrote songs about the government's mistreatment of Native Americans but they were banned in usa because they were controversial. He has a new album coming out. They helped their community. Come and Get your Love meant all kinds of love.
Us Boarding school kids use to listen to them all the time in 1970s in Oklahoma. It gave us someone to look up to that was Native like us..
I was looking forward to seeing the dance in the beginning 😢. Still good. I really think you should watch it when you can.
I was familiar with Pat and Lolly in 1966. They had a great band that play in a club on the sunset Strip in West Hollywood, Ca. Really good
One great example of sing and band pat and lolly
They released "We Were All Wounded at Wounded Knee" in 1973. The song was inspired by the horrific massacre of the Lakota Sioux by the U.S. Military in 1890. And with the so-called 'controversial' subject matter, many American radio stations banned and refused to play it in spite of it charting HIGHLY in the international markets. Yeah. Some things NEVER change. And yes, you need to watch the Midnight Special version of this to check out that Native American dance intro at the beginning. R.I.P. Tony Bellamy and Lolly Vegas. 😢❤
Redbone was one of the best groups back in day. I think they were more popular out west and in Canada then the eastern parts of the US. But for anyone like myself who grew up with an Native American background knew them well! They were our heros. This song was just 1 of many hits they had. Another song was called: "The witch queen of New Orleans"Maggie , as well as "Maggie". You should check them out as well!
This came out my freshman year of HS - and it never gets old
This was the 70s - my opinion for the best decade in music! Yes, Redbone - American Native. They were mixed with Yaqui, Shoshone, and Mexican descent.
I have heard of Redbone and I’ve heard the song thousands of times but never knew the two went together.
wounded knee is there best song nr 1 in Europa and 1 of the biggest songs that Year
I loved this song when it played on the radio, had no idea they were Native Americans…so nice looking too!👍🩵
This is the first 45 I bought.
Still moves me to this day.
The video is from The Midnight Special...the guy on the far left in Native American clothes does a Native American dance before they go into the song.
I loved this song in High School, now it's a classic.
Love how Corey gets into the music. Great smile and moves!!!
I remember this song as a kid, it loved it!! My older brothers and sister would play it on our massive wooden cabinet stereo.
You missed the best part! The original video of this performance is from the tv show Midnight and there was a Native dance done by the guy in blue at the beginning.
Played in the opening scene with Star Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy.. Banger song and soundtrack.. I was in High School when this song was released..
I forgot how much I love this song!!!!
I love you, Dancing Man! I love your smile, and am dancing here too!!!!!!
That song is a frickin JAM.
You guys are all heart.
These guys are so cool and a great song to boot!
You must have heard their biggest hit,Witch Queen of New Orleans?
If not,get on it,you’ll love it.
I loved this song the first time I heard it! 🔥
Loved Redbone and
The Witch Queen of New Orleans is one of my favorites. It's about Marie Laveau, a practitioner of Voodoo.
Yes, we were all cool back then, my Karate instructor was native American back then!😎
Tony Orlando and Dawn - Gents, love to add this amazing 70s group to your reaction list. They had multiple #1 songs and were huge in the early 70s. Maybe start with Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Old Oak Tree (#1 billboard song of 1973) which was a tribute to the Vietnam Vets or Knock Three Times (#1 song multiple weeks in 1971). They have great harmonies and bet you would like em!
Actually, Yellow Ribbon was about a guy coming home from prison. Because of the time of release, it was co-opted for returning Vietnam Veterans.
❤Amo esta rolita desde que era niña es genial , aún y así no supiera que decía eso no importa es lo fantástico de la música te llega y te prende y se queda para siempre con Tigo . Y me encanto que la dejaron completa gracias
This song came out when I was REALLY LITTLE.. but I remember it (It's also on the soundtrack of a movie called Dick - a satire of the Nixon Watergate scandal - which is great and has an incredible soundtrack) - I did not know they were native American.. SO COOL!!!! WOW. It's a great song - it had to be, I still remember it from when I was a toddler. The song was released in January of 1974 - so it's 50 years old this year. hard to believe.
They also did the Witch Queen of New Orleans.
Love this song❤
One of my favorite all time songs❤
OMG, I don't know how old you guys are, but look my age. I was born in the 60's and remember when it came out. The chorus was always heard, when I was in HS
There is a French phone commercial that uses this song and I think gave it a recent resurgence.
ONE PLANET
ONE SPECIES
ONE TRUTH
You should have played whole video the Native American dance at first adds so much, this is a great song and great video , love it so happy
Love this song...
Love this song, it's used still on JC Penney commercials, just seen it the other night
This song is so amazing and you know what good for our original American people! Native Americans are America!
How you three haven't covered Etta James "I'd rather go blind" LIVE in Montreau 1975 is insane. It's an Iconic performance.
Cool song popular back in the day . Didn't hear it for years until GoG.
I’ve loved this song forever. SO FUNKY.
Everything about it
This video is from The Midnight Special show and it's this song by Redbone but it includes a traditional Native American dance at the beginning of the song. Very cool. Think you'll enjoy. czcams.com/video/OnJqFrVD3uE/video.html
In Family Guy they did a Native American top ten chart year by year and it was just this song every year 😂
They also have the song "Witch Queen of New Orleans!!!
Here is the original broadcast version with the extra beginning.

The version they just watched is the studio version of the audio, played over the live version visual.
That's why I'm sure the beginning dance is not there for these guys.
It's to bad someone made this version to get likes and it's not the official Midnight Special version.
Some peoples kids.......tisk tisk I swear this world.
Glad these guys liked it though, to bad they were sent/given a hacked downgraded one.
My jam!
First time I heard this song. It was at the Fair enrichmand it was one of the rides that I was riding and they were playing Play in this
Thank you, that was great.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful song and hair.
They did a cover of JJ Jackson's "But it's Alright" Y'all should check it out. 😊❤
A great song ! Great reaction!
❤ great song
This was the jam, in the day. We loved it especially because they were native people. I can't sit still if I hear it! I would like to know what you think of Expressway,(to your heart), by The Soul Survivors.
My dad has rhis song on a record and used to play it a lot
I hope these guys still own the rights to the song so they can make that money
Their first single Maggie is really good. Came out in 1970.
My husband is a redbone.
I'm instantly friends with any man who uses the term "interweb" 😂💯👍
Love this!!! Great jog guys!
Loved this song by Redbone it's was great. Brings back memories of 1974. What a year that was. I was twenty years old and this song was my message to all the young ladies. Can't blame a guy for trying!
James Gunn and Quentin Tarantino are 2 of the best directors when it comes to music selection in their films, reintroducing incredible music and including it in memorable ways.
