This is the first time I’ve heard of back planning, but it makes sense to me. I am spotty about filling in my planner, and frequently I need to know a date or event from the past. Almost every doctor visit includes questions such as, when did the symptoms start, when did you get a flu shot, etc.
That’s a good example of why I feel it’s necessary to back plan. Thanks for your comment my friend!😊
For last few years, I’ve had difficulty keeping ONE planner & have all but given it up. Idea of multiple planners stresses me out more! I do keep multiple journals, but the pressure I put on myself to “keep up” with them can sometimes be overwhelming & just another thing I HAVE to do…and I LOVE writing! I’m 63 & starting my life over from scratch, which planner would be a good all in one, not overwhelming one to do that’s both practical and fun? I loved the little wallet combo one but thinking I’d rather keep wallet separate for now - don’t have need to take planner w me so think I want larger size that’s easy. Even contemplating combining w my daily & gratitude & Bible study journals so they’re all in one place, then my “art journal” would just be for fun & “having” to wouldnt suck the fun out of it😂Thanks for doing this, it’s really giving me some great ideas & clearly helping me FINALLY begin to figure out a “system” that will work for me & I won’t hate! ( Franklin Covey broke me 30 yrs ago while in corp world, trying to shove a creative into that miserable box was no good - never really wanted to plan since!😂)
Planning is definitely a process. I know you will find what works for you😊

I don’t know how you teach in todays world. I would have quit a lot sooner if I had to teach in this day and age. Things have changed so much since I first started teaching

I am struggling. Elderly dog declining. Both of my children are grown and on their own and doing well. Adjusting to being an empty nester. I keep thinking I am going to start using my planner but now when not at work just spending time with my baby. I really like how you are explaining the process. Like your calmness.

I'm so sorry, but after watching this video, I don't think I fully understand what back planning is or how it's helping you. Are you planning ahead, or are you going back and filling in empty weeks?
I understand. Back planning is essential giving yourself the grace to fill in things in your planner that have already happened. In a lot of planner communities, back planning is sometimes frowned upon, because the purpose of “planning” is to lay things out ahead of time. I hope this explanation helped. For a lot of planners like myself, there is some anxiety around having an empty planner pages. Thanks for your question😊
