- Amazing Western Nebraska & Fort Laramie | RV America Y'all
In this week's full-time RV travel vlog, we head north from Interstate 80 on our RV Nebraska road trip. We continue to travel west and we take you along as we visit Gering, Nebraska. Western Nebraska shocked us... we did not expect the change in topography, landscape and scenery. Once again, this part of Nebraska was far more than we ever expected.
Our basecamp for our stay in Gering NE was Robidoux RV Park. This is a city park owned and operated by the town of Gering. It sits right on the edge of town and is easy to get in and out of. As always, we'll share a brief review of the RV park in this video.
During our stay in Gering Nebraska, we visited the nearby Legacy of the Plains Museum, made the drive to Fort Laramie National Historic Site in Fort Laramie Wyoming, and visited a local craft brewery (Flyover Brewing Company) in neighboring Scottsbluff, Nebraska. And we paid our respects to Rebecca Winters, a pioneer woman traveling the Mormon Pioneer Trail in the 1850s.
Our RV journey across Nebraska has been amazing! We have learned so much about the Native peoples and the pioneers who traveled west along the California Trail, the Mormon Pioneer Trail, the Oregon Trail, and the riders along the Pony Express Trail. Our time in Nebraska has been so much more than we ever expected, and we've just barely scratched the surface of all of the amazing places, towns and stories here. Thank you Nebraska! We will definitely be back!
We chose to stay at Robidoux RV Park during this leg of our USA road trip because of it's proximity to Scott's Bluff National Monument. We visited the monument several times during our week-long stay, but that's another video that we can't wait to share with you next week. What an amazing place!!! You won't want to miss it!

Happy Sunday y'all! Have we said how much we loved our time in Nebraska? What an interesting state! We've had folks as us about the National Parks Passport book that we use to collect our park stamps. You can find them at any US National Park or online: amzn.to/3KoQZMV . It's a fun little portable way to collect memories of the parks we visit. Today is a special day for us, we'll share more about that in today's Newsletter: rvtexasyall.com/newsletter-sign-up . đ
People pass through Nebraska and say it is boreing, I find it fascinating. The history, topography, everything. Really like how you get into the history and facts of the area where you stop. Love it.
Thanks Judy, we really enjoyed Nebraska & itâs history. Thanks for watching! đ
Our state just changes so much depending on where you're at. People also don't realize between us and South Dakota and Kansas how much famous wild west history took place here
You know how much I love to see Astro but the little wild rabbit was good enough.
đ
I-80, oh how many times have I driven that road. Thanks for reminding me of the beauty of the western Nebraska end. My late wife really enjoyed books about pioneer women. They were amazing women indeed. Thanks for the ride!
Your welcome Bill, thanks for watching! đ
Love your videos. You guys do a great job.
Appreciate that! đ
Great to learn of the history and new camping spots
We love the history! đ
Thank you so much as enjoyed the history lesson. Plus I enjoy the cannons going off as well as the mail rider. Looking forward to next week. Love y'all

Thanks Joanne!
Yup...NE does do that sudden change...and it's so surprising! And lots to see there! Safe travels!
For sure!
Hey Y'all! Adele and Dave are still not stalking you. We have really enjoyed you enjoying Nebraska. We did this trip in reverse coming back from Glacier NP and Custer SP exactly a year ago. We were on the way to Columbus, NE for my 50th High School Reunion. Enjoyed seeing the Flyover Brewery again...we might have sampled their great beer twice while in Scottsbluff. I got the hat! We also went to see Jungle Cruise at the Scottsbluff Drive-in Theater out by the airport. Great to see y'all out and adventuring. A little envious of your Red Coach. A beauty. Stay safe!
Thanks Dave, we definitely love red! đ
Lovely video...I wont miss next week. Thank you

The Wildcat Hills State Recreation Area is another great place to visit if you are in the area. So much more to do here than people think. Thank you for promoting our area.
Looking forward to your video on Scotts Bluff National Monument.
Hope you come back soon.
Thanks Mike, we will definitely be back!

Great videos y'all. Nebraska is a great state. We were there many years ago. We were working in Kansas and drove up to witness the Great Sand Hill Crane migration on the Platte river at Grand Island. Now that was something to see!!! Keep it up!
Thanks Thomas!
Super interesting! Thanks!
Thanks
Stayed at Robidoux on our trip to ND (Theodore Roosevelt NP) and SD (Badlands NP, Mount Rushmore, Black Hills and Custer SP). Good little city park. If you are headed to Black Hills area, Spearfish has an awsome city park campground. We used it for full hook-ups after boondocking at Badlands.
Very nice đđ»
You guys always find the most interesting historic stops! Good stuff!
Thanks Dewayne, hope you have found some good ice cream đš lately! đ
@@rvamericayall You know Iâm always on the hunt!

Loved the video, we went through there in 2020 on our way to see our son in Yellowstone! We passed Chimney rock on our way out there but did not stop! We will next time!!!
Thanks RC đ
Great video! We are stopping in Laramie on our next trip in that direction. Hope you love Robidoux RV Park, we did. Loved the Legacy museum and National Monument, too.
We loved them as well, the National Monument is next week!
Great video! You guys do such a good job!
We really appreciate that! đ
We were at the same park last year and Flyover Brewery was amazing. My husband is an IPA guy and he still says that is one of his favorites. And the pizza was equally amazing. We would go back to Scottsbluff just for Flyover!
Totally agree with that! đđ»
Making a trip to the black hills soon and planning on stopping at Scottsbluff along the way. Just added a couple more places to the list. Especially that museum, looked like the perfect place to learn alot about the plains. Thanks for sharing
Awesome, thanks for watching!
I die watching your videos. Than it ends and I'm back here.
Thanks
Phenomenal video as always, Stacey and Tom! Such interesting history, so much to see and do in this wonderful country we live in, thank you for your videos!
Thatâs for sure, thanks Wes! đ
Great video guys. I have never been to Nebraska.
Thanks
Loved this! Super new to your channel.. I really connect with your style. A nice little stroll through that interesting territory, the history points you touched on were spot on. My dadâs family were immigrants from Europe in the 1800âs, and farmers in Texas. My dad was the last of ten children to be placed in the Buckner Home (orphanage) in Dallas after their farm was decimated during the Dust Bowl. Itâs amazing the sacrifices the pioneers made, thank you for sharing this! I only have a handful of subscriptions, and so glad your on my list. You can thank Traveling Robert for that! And the stamp book, what a great idea.. I didnât know about those what a nice way to remember where youâve been and what you still need to check off the list! Looking forward to the next one⊠thank you!đ
Welcome Michele weâre glad you found our channel and thanks for the kind words. We will do our best to keep ââem coming! đ
Thanks for sharing your adventures! Happy traveling from Laurie and Rick
Thanks guys!
Back again. Just have to say, that was a wonderful gesture by the railroad workers. Much respect. Go Cougars!! Have fun y'all!!!
Thanks Rodd, it sure was! Go Coogs!!!
I love the way you share your travels with us. The facts you share about each location you visit is so informative. Thank you for taking us along with you.
Thanks Alan, comments like this is what keeps us going, we love it! Thanks
Learned a lot about my own state! Thanks for another great video!
Thanks Jayne!
Happy Anniversary you two! I hope you have a blessed day.
Thanks, we will
Great video. Love history & Happy Anniversary you'll. Looking forward to seeing more.
Thanks đ
That campground has a lot of space in between sites and a huge playground area for those who like or need that sort of thing. We loved it, but what we didn't love was the golf ball sized hail that dropped on us-thankfully, no damage.
Wow, glad you made it through that.
Cool video keep-em coming
Will do! đ
Have been enjoying all your adventure videos through Iowa and Nebraska. Looking forward to next weeks continuation of the series. Thanks.
Thanks Norman!
Nice! Can't wait to see the Wyoming videos. I really want to head up there in the camper.
Coming soon! đ
Thank you again for show casing Nebraska. I met a person at the FMCA rally in Lincoln,NE last week that said he came through this area and there was nothing to see. DON'T GET IT!!!!
Was he blind! đ
I love the shirt (Texas Chica)
I'll have to find my wife one.
Thanks Miguel. I bought it in a shop on The Strand in Galveston.
Hello, I was on the road for 20 yrs and would like to recommend Love's truck stops for a clean hot shower, cleaner than your home bathroom and huge water pressure. G.
Thanks for the tip Gerald, we will keep that in mind!
Very interesting video of the history of our great country. Thanks. We noticed your grill on the picnic table. What was it? Thanks
Thanks Lou! That is our Nomad Grill. It's a charcoal grill that folds up to the size of a small suitcase and is made to be extremely durable. We love it so much, we joined their affiliate program. Here's a link to their website for more information: click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=hjmYiDwj6*I&offerid=835970.11&type=3&subid=0 . We bought ours in January 2021. It's traveled all over the country with us and is the best, most durable grill we've ever owned. Even after all of the cooks we've done on it, the constant moving about and the variety of weather conditions, it is still like new. If you'd like to see our initial impressions of it, you can find them on our website: rvtexasyall.com/cooking/charcoal/nomad-grill-smoker .
Thank you for the videos. Where do you find out about the places you visit? I find out about places from others after we've already passed through & missed it.
Many of them from followers that give suggestions. We also use Trip Wizard and Google! đ
Where did u find the passport book at ?
Hi Bob! You can pick one up at any National Park Visitor Center or on Amazon: amzn.to/3cskbpC . It's a great, compact way to collect memories of the parks we visit. We've also found stamps at US Forest Service visitor centers and the US Grasslands Visitor Center in Wall, South Dakota.
