- Today, a kind woman gives me a tour around Surat - and we try some local Surati food!
One strange thing that I have noticed while traveling through India, not just Surat, is that when I happen to make eye contact with a random person and smile, the people (both men and women) do not often offer a smile in return. Making the situation for me a bit awkward. It's kind of like reaching out to shake someone's hand and they don't lift their hand to shake yours. Denied! haha.
I learned, from my friend in this video, that a smile may indicate a 'signal' of some kind. Strange and interesting at the same time, from a western perspective.
There is no 'right' or 'wrong' here, just simply an observation and something different. I thought I'd share.
It's also important to note, for whatever reason, this is not the reaction I get from children. 99% of the time, they smile back no matter what! :)
Also, the other half of this video - I explored with a local Surati girl - she helped me to experience Surat! So cool!

Not many foreigners visit the city of Surat. It does not have tourist spots as such but it is the people, the food, the culture that makes the city special. Try to visit the city during Uttarayan(Festival of Kites - mid. January), Navratri or Diwali.

3. Jain and Hindu Temples (esp. Chintamani Jain Temple - 16th Century Temple),
4. Amaazia Water Park,
5. Street Food and authentic Gujarati Cuisine,
6. Parathas at Gaurav Path,

8. Dumas Beach and Suvali Beach,
9. Surat Aquarium etc.

Indias most happiest city and India's fastest growing smart City. It is famous for its business hub like textile and diamond industry... It is also famous for its food. I am a marwadi living in surat for 7 years I had very great experience of living ... People are so humble .it doesn't look like I am in another city ...my all friends family members... Our society all are here ....❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
And india safest city for woman and children ..crime rate is very low campare to other devloped cities.

Haha! When we were in India we noticed they smiled back at us if we smiled (most of the times), but most people we took photos or selfies with, they don't smile! Good points! Good vlog as always!!

I stay in Mumbai but visit my cousin once a year in surat. Surat is unique in food culture and has many special stuff like coco drink similar to chocolate milkshake and locho which is gram flour cake snack like savory.
The bara handi which includes nalli nihari, paya (bone marrow, trotters)
Dumas Beach bhajiyas have many varieties of fritters
Well developed city... seems safe. Food seems pretty good too. I love Gujarat traditional dance Garba.

over the last four years of traveling i have always wanted to add subtitles to each video but unfortunately it would add an additional several hours to each video on top of the five to eight hours i spend editing.
I barely have enough time to edit the videos, let alone add subtitles.
however, if you watch my videos from my computer, then you can click on the closed captioned icon and it will translate to any language instantly. unfortunately, on a mobile phone, it's not possible..

- yes, a long time ago, I was experimenting with color grading. I think I failed at this particular video. Now, things are better. Much better. 😂
