Have to say so many fellow spurs fans are far too negative, as opposed to the most positive manager on the planet ✌I prefer to look over the coming years not months for Ange, to become a serious football club we need a quality SQUAD that can be in the fight for trophies, that takes time.

To be fair I think we all knew this was coming. A whole team of players out and the way ange has us playing it was only a matter of time for them to all have a blowout. What I can’t get my head around is the energy we found in the last 20 minutes. Amazing COYS
I’d like to see Phillips given a chance or Dorrington even. I also think earlier subs and young legs might have helped. I like the energy of Santiago and Donnelly and Veliz showed he can score goals if given enough time. Brighton had several young players doing it.
It’s a balancing act. But he could be braver with his changes. Everton we won by the finest of margins. Energy would really help. Even Kulusevski is doing daft things and got 5 yellows now. He never takes him off. But a 20-30 mins rest might have helped.
Interesting factoid: 'Decimated' means 1-in-10. It comes from ancient Roman legions when they experienced a defeat and were punished by their superiors. The soliders were ordered to kill the tenth comrade in every cohort. It wasn't a common practice but was mentioned in history. While the modern meaning means heavily depleted, I chucked thinking Spurs would have to have a 100-man squad to be actually decimated.

I know it's easy to make decisions when you don't have the pressure of being the manager, but I would start Alfie Dorrington alongside Ben Davies against Bournemouth. Having watched the U-21s extensively this season, Alfie has proved to be the most natural centre back after Romero and VDV at taking the ball from the keeper, playing it into the number 6 or being involved in triangles to beat the opposition press. He is calm, has a physical presence and has demonstrated good powers of recovery. As a Cockfosters lad he will certainly have the crowd's backing as "one of our own". Starting him allows a chance to settle into the game rather than having to adjust to the pace of the match later on, and keeps open the opportunity to make a change later on if required. There would be more pressure on him if his debut came against Burnley, given the importance of the FA Cup in the pursuit of a trophy. I feel it's a shot to nothing because he's a natural central defender, unlike Emerson Royal who has been given some thankless tasks this season. Seems like an archetypal "to dare is to do" moment for me. Thoughts?
It's always very sweet when you add a little apologia for the format of these videos. But truly there's none needed - your work is brilliant and the format is perfect. Long live long, discursive, thoughtful musings! Thank you SO much - and happy new year.
Happy New Year Ali. Ange has done enough to convince the fans and more importantly Levy that there is far more to look forward to than in anytime since the Poch years. Patience from everyone and a good two or three transfer windows is what is needed.
Yesterday's foul stats Brighton 18 spurs 6 has been similar stats last few games we are being stopped from playing on the break on many occasions and how the Forrest player yates got away with all his fouls without a red was unbelievable.

One element of the discipline is the biased and inconsistent refereeing. If we are to compete we need that level of intensity but if the opponents dont get booked and we do we have a problem. Its not a coincidence we have so many injuries. The opponents dont get booked and just continue in the same way because the referee dont set a precedent early in the match. Its ridiculous at times.

Thanks, Alasdair. That defeat feels like much less of a catastrophe after listening to your report, especially in relation to Ange’s early Celtic days. It’s always good to be hauled up out of ‘can’t bear to look’ mode! With key players back and a bit of discipline this team will be successful, I believe. Best to you and yours for 2024. C. O. Y. S.
I feel strangely calm even after this very strange defeat and thanks to you ally for your reassuring perspective, and once all our injured players return we will surely be a team to fear...our football to date has been fantastic, not sure what is going on with Dier, but suspect he is on his way out in January !
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Alasdair. Great coverage as ever. Calm needed- still early days in the Ange era. We need more of his players in to make it work- the Brighton result shows that.
Ally, super podcast as always. We know where we are with injuries, suspensions and not having the depth of talent in the squad we expect. We need to collectively get behind the new coach with a new system and a significant change of players, with hopefully more to arrive. Patience needed.

Hi Alasdair, I hope you and your family had a terrific Christmas and all the best for 2024. For all of us Spurs fans, keep the faith. At the very start of the Ange project, we would gladly have settled for the table position we are in and this is in spite of the catastrophic injury crisis. Ange can only play the cards that are in his hand so please do not start to infer that the season is a disappointment as we are on course in the project. We will also push really hard from February onwards when we have a full squad. So much to look forward to...........
The main reason we lost at Brighton was that too few players moved into space to receive the ball. Most were static and waited for the ball to reach them resulting in it being intercepted, leaving us flat footed and chasing. Also the passing accuracy was pretty bad. We just weren't playing for/helping each other out. It was a real shame.
Ali Gold for the last time this year! Thank you for all your outpouring over the years as it has been very cathartic! Have a great time over the New Year and thanks for the video! Love the length of them cos there is so much content! See you next year Mr Gold! You are indeed Golden!

Thanks, Alasdair! Hope you recover quickly from your cold. Wishing Hugo all the best. He really contributed a lot to Spurs over the years. I’ll also miss Perisic.
Happy new year, hold my hands up i thought we had gone for the cheap option in Vicario, how wrong I was. Even if you don’t include the indifferent form of the man I thought we should’ve got Vic has been a sensation. The top signing we’ve made in years. COYS
Thank You for the quality of your professionalism and research, which is why I listen to your videos. Unearthing the Celtic interview and their early interview is Gold! 😊. Happy New Year 🎆
Ali Hope you feel better Love soon. Sorry late.Just to say Brighton have injuries as well. Didn't play well enough .The suspensions are getting ridiculous letting their team mates down. Think Ange was at fault not changing it up quick enough . The defending woeful again could have put youngsters on. Hope you feeling better soon. GOLD GOLD GOLD .
Happy Christmas Alasdair and may I wish you a wonderful 2024 in advance. I have to agree with you about our retinue of extremely talented youngsters. When you see other teams playing 18 & 19yr olds, with considerable success, you wonder why we don't especially when the team/squad is so depleted and when we're having to force square pegs into round holes. That would be my one criticism of AP. Perhaps he's waiting for the Burnley FA Cup game - but I think that's too late.
Always look forward to your videos Alasdair. Best wishes to you and your family for 2024, look forward to seeing you in better health in the New Year COYS!
Thank you Ally for another year of exceptional Tottenham coverage with your great insight and balanced views on the club and all the goings on ( never dull ) . Lets hope that 2024 brings good things for you your family and Tottenham . Hope that you are starting to feel better , sure a win Sunday would help .
Agree 100% Alasdair that this is just that testing period before we get to where Ange wants the team to be. 5th is no small feat so far. Great gift the On Air sign, kind of indifferent on having it there...I mean it has red in it 🤔😂
Love the slight amendments to the backgrounds each video. Stayed with the hotel door! Games are exciting at least.. Although middle 60 minutes was tough.. Get well soon!
Part of me wonders whether Ange is making a statement to Daniel that the young cbs are not yet ready, and we need money invested ASAP to cover our cb positions
Another great vlog Alasdair. I know we have injuries and suspensions but Brighton also had 10 out and over the game played 4 teenagers, plus Brighton have been playing Europa football. Spurs have to scout, recruit better with Mr Levy and the board need to prepare to spend, not balk say 17 million for Piarrera who ended up at Leicester with Spurs paying more for Aurier, not paying 12 million for Maddison when David Pleat advised Spurs to when he was at Coventry years ago. There are many more examples like this over the years. Oh well COYS.
Thanks, Ali. I thought this was a time to put Phillips in while down with little chance of winning. Like he did with our young striker. He needs to see him in PL matches, imo. I’m staying positive because I love the football, understand we have key injuries and the fact we are still rebuilding. He has 5 subs so he should be able to give a youngster a chance when we’re up or the game’s out of reach. Thanks again, Ali. Happy New Year! COYS!
Hey ali, just want to say thanks for what you do and the time you give up to do these vids. In return, because i live in Australia i have to give up my nye celebrations to watch spurs at the stroke of midnight. Ben Davies for Captain! Is it really even a tough choice with all the others out, I think it'd be even a lil offensive if he chose someone else. He already doesn't get nearly the respect he deserves. Also, Dunk was playing dirty, should have been sent off, coulda been through 2 yellows or a red honestly And, really, Ange just has to play Ashley Phillips or Dorrington from the start next to Davies in the upcoming match. Among other things, Royal had 0 aerial duels won, versus Ben's 6, while the Welshman is shorter. Please Ange!!
Ali, in your talking points about the Brighton game there are some good quotes from Ange about injuries and following the process. If anyone else is interested I can heartily recommend the 30 October episode of Tifo Football podcast titled "Is too much football causing injuries?". It is a fascinating interview with Callum Walsh, a physical performance manager taking a deep dive into the physical aspects of player management. A lot of what Ange said about the injuries and sticking to the process chimes with what they talk about in the podcast. Really good stuff - great insight that has helped my understanding of the situation. Callum also says "PosteTROGlou" at one point, which made me laugh. I can provide a link if you can't find it.
Good comment on our academy players, I seem to remember a young striker who was given a chance and seemed to do well. What was his name again? Barry, Jerry… something like that. It’ll come to me.
Thanks for posting, even though you have a lurgy (I've been in bed with Covid). I particularly appreciated your considered analysis of the centre back dilemma. Ben is doing a marvellous job, especially as he is not the tallest, and should be made captain in Sonny's absence. I'd like to see him partnered with Phillips in the Bournemouth game, assuming Phillips is mentally, as well as physically ready.
I think VDV can handle playing on the right if called upon. The thing is with these injuries two were none contact, also other teams have massive injury problems (Newcastle, Brighton) and what about the previous manager Antonio Conte with his training methods of double sessions and making them run until they throw up. In my opinion, maybe it's the football pitches being so good making the game faster. I can remember years ago the grass in the goalkeeper's area being worn away as the season progressed.
Happy early new year!! I’m from the US and have been a Spurs fan since 2010. I’m currently living in LA so I will def consider catching a game with Hugo between the sticks. The few years I was a fan before Hugo got here were rough, rough years at the goalkeeping spot. Can we have a laugh now that Brad Friedel was getting consistent starts alongside bale and modric? HL1 legitimized us in so many ways and he stayed loyal. A new era Tottenham legend in the way maybe only 3-4 other players are imo.
Hi Alasdair. Re youngsters not getting game time I feel the same but was then thinking AP is doing a conte and wanting to show that he needs a centre back. Not only does he need to show that to levy but to any incoming talent. Imagine one or both of them turning out to be ready and good, any prospect would feel they are going to be 4th or 5th choice and decide against the move. When the window shuts I reckon they’ll get their chance. Love your work as always

Loving the new sign Ali. Great choice from your daughter 😂. What a weird game that was. Hopefully we come back stronger against Bournemouth. Keep up the amazing work as always and as ever we are lucky to have you as a fan base
Thanks, Alasdair! Hope you recover quickly from your cold. Wishing Hugo all the best. He really contributed a lot to Spurs over the years. I’ll also miss Perisic.
Happy new year to you ali , the best spurs reporter bar none COYS.
Thank you for all your vids. The setup may not be professional but your insights and attitude are.
Have a good 2024.
Happy new year, hold my hands up i thought we had gone for the cheap option in Vicario, how wrong I was. Even if you don’t include the indifferent form of the man I thought we should’ve got Vic has been a sensation.
The top signing we’ve made in years. COYS
Happy new year and thank you for giving us you insight in to Tottenham
Thank You for the quality of your professionalism and research, which is why I listen to your videos. Unearthing the Celtic interview and their early interview is Gold! 😊. Happy New Year 🎆
Ali Hope you feel better Love soon. Sorry late.Just to say Brighton have injuries as well. Didn't play well enough .The suspensions are getting ridiculous letting their team mates down. Think Ange was at fault not changing it up quick enough . The defending woeful again could have put youngsters on. Hope you feeling better soon. GOLD GOLD GOLD
.
Hi Alasdair, thanks for the update, COYS.
I love how Ali makes the best Spurs content and then thanks us for watching.
Thank you Ali!
Cheers, Ally! Happy New Year to you and yours, mate!
ON AIR 💡🚨. Look forward to watching this in the morning 👍🏻
Cheers Alasdair, brilliant as always!... I would love to see Ange give one of the youngsters more game time, we could see the star of a future legend!
thank u for another year of great viewing and amazing info...Happy New Year to u and Family Alasdair :) COYS
First of many videos with the “On Air” display!
I have that exact same "On Air" light sitting next to me!
Happy New Year to you and your family.
What a way to bring in the new year hey...what omen will this give us for the year ahead. Ta mate
I wish you a speedy recovery and a happy New Year, Ali.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your updates throughout the year ,enjoy every minute of it.
Hope 2024 is a good year for us Spurs fans.
I also enjoy your shared podcast with Rob ( whispering Bob Harris Guest .. COYS...
A happy New Year to you and your familly Ali. :)
Ben Davies for Captain! Is it really even a tough choice with all the others out, I think it'd be even a lil offensive if he chose someone else. He already doesn't get nearly the respect he deserves.
Also, Dunk was playing dirty, should have been sent off, coulda been through 2 yellows or a red honestly
And, really, Ange just has to play Ashley Phillips or Dorrington from the start next to Davies in the upcoming match. Among other things, Royal had 0 aerial duels won, versus Ben's 6, while the Welshman is shorter. Please Ange!!
Great shout
The On Air sign looks good on sofa - good present
I can remember years ago the grass in the goalkeeper's area being worn away as the season progressed.
thank you ali, you always help calm us down after a defeat hahaha
This is my goldfishs' second favourite channel about Spurs. Keep up the good work!
Love the 'On Air' sign! 😂
I loved every second of this Ali X130
Happy New Year Mr Gold! Here's to a fantastic 2024. 🎉🎉
Thanks Ali, wish you better and have a Happy New Year ps does it magically change to “off air” when you finish 😂?
