I'm surprised by most of the interviewees being fine with splitting the bill. I feel like in the West, men are viewed as walking piggybanks.
I dunno about the west, Im from Ireland thats not how it is here, Ive lived in different parts of Canada, same there, Ive family in Australia, and England same there. I was with an Italian for 7 years, same there. Ive dated Germans, same there.
Are you sure that you dont mean America when you say the west? That place was founded on capitalism what can you expect really? Peoples worth is measured by the size of their bank account and spending is a love language.

It is more in Post Soviet and Traditional countries, In Kazakhstan, we men pay for women, and i think it is not so good nowadays when women can also work, be head of company, create business, earn money

I think that while not mastering the use of chopsticks may be excused for both foreigners and native Japanese, some other more important things like genuine respect, attentiveness to others, and overall good character, people of any culture must possess. For example, if someone is too loud and disregards comfort of others, or rude to anyone else, it should not be explained as due to the cultural difference and excused just because person is a foreigner. I have met a Japanese girl in Japan back in 2013, not sure if I can consider that a date, it was more like a normal meeting. Anyway, we went to zoo, ate at restaurants, bowled and watch a movie. The meeting went well, but when I back to my home country, which is Finland, she said she doesn't want to meet me anymore and we never spoke ever since. I don't know exactly why she doesn't want to have anything to do with me, but I could imagine it being because my lack of social skills of how I approach people mostly which is something I strive to practice. It could be something else like the way I wear or how I look or stuff like that, but I mostly blame my lack of social skills, I'll try to get better at it.

Man's first mistake, was giving any weight to the wants and opinions of women.
