- We have a new Transformers adventure in the form of a trilogy mini series on netflix. We have the first chapter of this trilogy called "SIEGE", made up of 6 episodes. Here's my review for TRANSFORMERS: WAR FOR CYBERTRON TRILOGY - SIEGE!

I like how they actually show Megatron slipping increasingly into extremism, particularly regarding Shockwave.
I enjoyed that too, bit more complexity to a great villain.
Who was that guy on the decepticons that seems like he could be good? I've only seen 2 episodes.

How the F is the show rated Y7? Dark tones, talks of fascism and "keeping ranks pure", dead bots on spikes, etc. This show is brilliant!

Transformers last knight?
Good lord, I had to ask myself if I was watching the right movie during Transformers last knight because It felt like there was only 5% transformers
in the whole damn movie. When the transformers were on screen it felt like they were only there for like 2 min per scene.

There's another transformers series back in 2010 called Transformers Prime. It's a mix of gritty and fun story and I think it's pretty great. Maybe you should check that out too.

I think any transformers fan should check out Transformers Prime. The voice work, the lore, the animation, all great. The Megatron in that show is a STONE. COLD. BADASS. They got Starscream down pat too. Optimus and Ratchet are great. Even the human characters aren't insufferable and they lend something to the team. The parallel between Jack and Optimus is great and I love that they did something like that: show that hey might be different species but we're not entirely that different. They've tried to do that before but in Prime it really works.
I 100% agree. As far as “darker” TF shows go, Prime is definitely one of my favourites, probably just my nostalgia talking but I absolutely adore prime. Plus it has my favourite versions of both Megatron and Starscream, they had really cool and unique designs which were different but still kept in tune with their characters, and didn’t just give carbon copies of G1 again. And character-wise they had one of the best Megatron/Starscream dynamics in any TF show I’ve seen.

@Nemesis Man I love G1 but we can't use the cassette thing forever. I got into a personal argument with Robert Orci over the movie scripts and how shitty they were with their treatment of G1 characters and designs, I think we can make some consessions depending on the series at the time they come out.
Dude Megatron is downright terrifying in Prime omg. Most of the Decepticons are actually a THREAT which is great. Airachnid is like a horror villain. She's great.

I went back and watched one of his reviews from 2013 and kept asking myself "what is wrong with his hair, It's so short"
What I really enjoyed about this show was how Megatron was portrayed in a much more grey and complex light. He isn't a 1 dimensional evil villain, but rather someone who firmly believes what he is doing is the best option for Cybertron. "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions." And that 'ends justify the means' mindset is further pushed and corrupted by both Shockwave's manipulations and a growing desperation to finally bring an end to the war.
This adds on to why I enjoyed the ending, where the lines of what is truly good and evil become blurred when Optimus is attempting to take the All Spark off world, knowingly dooming Cybertron to a slow death.
Yep as a 42 year old who grew up on the original cartoon, this is exactly what I wanted from Transformers as a fan of the comics and characters in 2020, bring in part 2

@@ProjectShinkai The first and third episode were decent but the fourth started it's downfall, beginning with that episode it all came from one Brandon M Easton who wrote a steaming pile of shit comic called Transformers Deviations which lazily branched from the movie by having Optimus kill Megatron, in it everyone abused Hot Rod, most the season 3 cast including Hot Rod himself died and Optimus survived.
The last three episodes of this series came from that same dickhead and it just so happens he kills off Ultra Magnus in the first three minutes and I noticed all but the seasons 1 and 2 cast died. Out of all the talented writers who've worked on Transformers over the years, they picked him.
@@ganados0 i feel its trying to hard in the original their was deceptions military hardware that rose up. and AI, and the autobots. Megatron was the ultimate fighting machine, till they created prime who fought on equal footing. they were locked in an everlasting battle.

Kiith Nabaal Yeah the shark teeth sounds dumb in theory but adds a lot to the character. Unfortunately they probably wouldn’t look right with Meg’s new lips.
I’m 40 years old and grew up with Transformers. I just watched this with my 7 year old son, and we both loved it.
I liked how this showed that both sides had been fighting for so long that they just lost sight of what they were even fighting for. It seemed like Optimus had truly been corrupted by the war and while he still had sight of his morals, he was even willing to destroy everything in order to keep megatron from winning.
Elita One has been with Optimus Prime even before he was Optimus Prime. Their names were Orion Pax and Ariel at the time... like 10 million years ago... they were built at the same time and bonded... so... hopefully people won't act like she's a mary-sue.
I mean it's not like she never fails and it's all knowing and confident. She's "human" and vulnerable, she isn't infallible and flawless.
If anyone called her a Mary sue, they just wouldn't know the definition

Hmmm. I can't say she's a Mary-Sue. She certainly has more to do in this one than in the original series however. Her role has definitely been expanded as has her rank. However nothing about the execution of Elita is terribly off putting. I suppose we will wait and see if the writers take the show over a cliff or raise it to new heights.

Elita is one of those forgotten characters. They finally brought her back. She was supposed to be really important in G1.
Wheeljack sounded like he does in this series in the G1 cartoon!! Its a pretty faithful recreation of Chris Lotta's performance!

Yeah, that's what I thought, too, about Wheeljack. I have to admit that I grew up on the 80's show, but haven't seen any of the series since. Maybe I do need to check out Beast Wars and Prime. Never really thought I could be hooked again, but damn if this Netflix series didn't do it.

@@EvilElecBlanket I'd say go with Beast Wars. It's the best Transformers THING ever written. Prime you can pass on. It's not terrible, but it has perhaps the two most annoying characters to EVER exist. Jarjar, and Scrappy Doo combined don't hold a Candle to either Miko, nor TFPrime Wheeljack.

Yeah I was quite turned off by how the very first line from Optimus was him yelling. But I agree that he does sound really close to OG optimus

I Really loved how flawed they made Optimus in this series
it almost makes him look like he has nooooooo idea what he's doing or has any form of plan to beat Megatron.
and his ideals also seem a little well fanatical and radical where he's all for freedom but AT ANY COST no matter how much it costs and no matter who gets killed trying to achieve it.
if anything they made Prime more of a freedom fighter(heh) than a heroic leader that i'm sure with time he'll grow up to be.
and yeah the Orion Pax/Aerial angle they took with Prime and Elita was such a great addition really "humanizes" them both.
and it shows us that they are not just Machines they are sentient beings who can love just as much as humans can.
you can tell that Elita doesn't really want to fight she just wants to be with Optimus most likely the way they were together before but Optimus gave up that life to fight a war that it's implied that he started.

When I saw this video, I stopped in the early parts of it and jumped on Netflix to burn through the entire series, to finish watching your video.
Yeah, it was a great telling of the early wars on Cybertron. I hope this series continues. I truly appreciated seeing the Autobots having to struggle to win. It gets very played out seeing the Decepticons lose every time.
Say what you want about all transformers movies,series cartoon or whatever.But you cant deny that people around the world grew up with this such great story.
transformers turned a lot of boys into Men. Not sure how the female side of this works.. I am from G1, i know they rebooted it and had many multiverse of the TF which is great for newer generations.
That show is the proof that if you put efforts and respect in your work, you can please the old fans and certainly bring new ones. Very well done on all levels. Particular mention on the sound design. They feel like machines.

I never fully invested myself into TP, but from what the fans of the show say, it’s pretty good. The little I’ve seen of it, is that it definitely goes back to its roots, what with the kid characters, and Transformers Prime is very much a children show; it does however have my personal favorite art style of the series, which is probably why it had such a huge fan base, and if I where to rate them purely on art style alone it would go like this: Transformers Prime, Transformers War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron, and last, but not least, Transformers Armada. I did like Beast Wars when I was younger, but visually, that show is dated as fuck. THE CGI DOES NOT HOLD UP. PERIOD.
@@CrimsonHero81 no... it depends where you watch it, i recently rewatched the first season on netflix and i agree the cgi looked ike hot garbage, which was odd because i remember that the cgi for this series was way ahead of its time, and the series also had a suprisingly large budget. the rendering of the cgi is actually really different depending where you watch it. after seeing this mess of cgi i went ahead and rewatched it on a dvd of tfp, turns out it was way better. and if you check out some youtube clips on it the cgi really does hold up. again it really comes down to where or what you watch it on. netflix (where i live at least) has pretty much forgotten about the series. so yea, just watch it on a different platform or something.

I was expecting a scene that shows off how crazy prime can get when he rages. Never happened.. he got beat up by low end bots, was kinda pathetic not gunna lie. Like, in the heat of battle, prime can become almost as brutal as Megatron. He doesnt hold back. Decepticons fear him, like everyone fears megatron, and for good reason

Yes, for me it was the greatest animated show. Music was awesome.Many episode were top notch. Especially when Prime got his hands on Sword of Solace Prime...stuck the superhero landing after retrieving that iocon relic - The sword of Solace Prime...Slashed the freaking mountain in half after that. That was epic... And lots of other stuff.
I thought Prime was disappointing and slow.
Jeremy, maybe you should check out the game Transformers: Devastation. It's got a lot of that G1 transformers style in a decent video game.

The book trilogy Transformers: War For Cyberyron, Transformers: Exiles, Transformers: Retribution, and the video games Transformers: War for Cybertron, Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron placed within the same continuity of the animated TV show Transformers: Prime.
So if that gives you any ideas on what to binge next....my body is ready.

@@sebastiancintron29 It's technically still a War for Cybertron game, but including Age of Extinction into it makes it difficult to be part of any canon that isn't an elseworlds scenario. Transformers has done a lot of multiverse stories before but the Bay films never fit into that scenario imo.

I didn't care for Optimus' voice in this. Everytime he yelled it sounded like a teenagers voice cracking. And i felt like there was at least 3 or 4 times i was shouting at my screen for some one to just use a gun or a blade instead of there fists.
It’s to make you see him as a younger, less experienced leader. He has moments of rage, and makes plenty of mistakes. He’s no peter Cullen, but he does his best.
I like that he sounds younger-remember Optimus wasn't ALWAYS the incredibly regal bot he is now so it makes sense that they would have him sound younger here. And have him really question things too which is great. In Prime he's always so stalwart in his beliefs and choices-so to have him doubt is refreshing.

For a TV-Y7 show, I'm surprised they got away with saying "damn" and "ass". Granted they're not real swears, but I don't come across that in other kid shows. Nevertheless, I really appreciate them trying to tell a daring story.

The show is actually in multiple languages. Not just English. You have to take that into account. But I do agree it got on my nerves here and there.

This is good. This is actually pretty good & surely have a better stories than Michael Bay Transformers.

You can’t REALLY think you’re on the “good side” with a name like DECEPTicons. Lol
Niththy Ram in the comics they took the name after their slogan “you are being deceived” back when Megatron was simply trying to peacefully speak out and raise awareness of how corrupt and evil the original leaders of Cybertron were and his followers would openly quote him
They were referred to as “Decepticons” because most followers were transformers who were created by cold construction (“cons” were discriminated on cybertron and were treated like crap as even this Netflix series briefly mentions)
Ironically it ended up being a fitting name for when they genuinely went evil

I highly recommend the more the IDW “more then meets the eye” series which continues into “lost light” cause it’s extremely fun but not afraid to get extremely dark
It’s set after the war finally ended and a group of transformers (autobot and Decepticon) search for “cybertopia” a supposedly better cybertron that hopefully has the resources to fix cybertron
It sheds light on some of the lesser known transformers and ends up possibly being the best TF series I ever saw (seriously it’s criminal there isn’t a tv series of this run)
It also has the best depiction of Transformers romance, delivered in a way that’s not only believable but wholesome and emotional

This is my Transformers that I grew up with, right down to the way the look and somewhat sound like! Pretty good series so far, this takes place before the 80's series
Why can't we get this in the live action films? I'm so tired of the 'HUMANS oh and some Trasnformers'.
A live action film without humans would be exactly this show: a cgi show.

Okay one the humans can be an engaging and even entertaining part of Transformers, but it is nice to have stories without them that only focus on the transformers themselves. Two Agent William Fowler that is all.
Kyrias I feel like Transformers Prime was one of the only shows that made the humans work pretty well with the plot.

Overall a 7.5/10 for me.
The story and characters were good. The darker and more gritty take on the war on Cybertron was something that I wanted for so long and I'm glad they did it right. I love how the Decepticons are portrayed here, having a reason to destroy the Autobots making them more sympathetic and easier to reason with rather than being evil for the sake of being evil. I like the twist that they did to some of the characters, like Bumblebee not being a loyal soldier to the Autobots but instead a neutralist vagabond and the other Autobots not having much faith in Optimus like Ratchet.
The voice acting was a mixed bag. Bumblebee, Megatron and Starscream were pretty good. Optimus Prime, Soundwave and a few others were mediocre. The animation and sound design were passable and at times bad. It could definitely use a bump in budget.
Do I want a season 2? Sure.
I really wished they brought Jon Bailey back to play Optimus.
The Roosterteeth team really knocked this one out of the park!

Can't be THAT old if you love Transformers. I'm 40 been there since the beginning but I didn't care for this reiteration.
I personally didn’t not enjoy the series. Though the designs of the characters were almost on point the characters voices were so disjointing like wtf happened to sound waves voice?! What happened to Optimus’s voice? The thing about the old voices were that they were very distinct. You could probably name who is talking and who is in the scene, but in this show almost everyone sounds sooo similar as if they didn’t put any passion into the rest of the show. Idk maybe I’m biased against RoosterTeeth. They are such a corrupt company. Sorry if this sounds like a rant.
I was just so excited for the show and I’m just let feel so let down.

BeczaBot yes and another reason I don’t like the show. If RT is involved the shows writing will either go down hill or will get political. And RT is a very political and corrupt company.

Plus do some research, Rooster Teeth was production only, the writing was the same people who did the Prime Wars trilogy and the animation was done by the same studio that did Prime

I'm sorry to but I gotta disagree with you. Yeah Elita-1 got on Optimus's case a lot but he was making some very risky decisions and I don't think there was ever any one time were she was wrong to call him out on those decisions.
But that's just how I see it and don't wanna get into a fight over the matter.
For good reason, Optimus was really brain-dead with his decision making in this series.

mickor - no doubt, Jetfire was quality. Even what they managed to do with Megatron was great; making him somewhat sympathetic at the start and showing that desperation more than anything drives him to become the big bad. Starscream was quintessential Starscream. Can’t believe they managed to squeeze so much characterisation in a relatively short time.
Daniel Carter - done dirty is exactly right. Was hoping to at least get a bit of The Reluctant Leader thing going.

I went in fully blind and was very impressed.
It was indeed more mature, but they did all the characters justice, specially Optimus and Megatron.
The Voices, the sounds, the looks, and specially how ravaged Cybertron and the Autobots are. Perfect.
Autobots being such Underdogs and the fact that they lost the War, which is often forgotten, hit a very nice spot and made really happy this was similar to the war on cybertron comics.
This has nothing to do with Transformers, however, yes I do love 'em, I'ma 80's baby; Jeremy, please do a review of "The Demolition Man".

Sky Lynx is forever and always my favorite Autobot. Doesn't act like a beast but with eloquence of a human and can take on any Combiners anytime.

I remember the stickers that would show autobot/receptor con emblem when you pressed it. Also remember earning enough points to get the red car. It was funny in Australia that we could never get Megatron because of his shape. Laser beak and the panther cassettes were my favorite. Miss those toys since some of them actually had heft
Awesome review, also quick fast notes: two video games, part 1 War For Cybertron and part 2 Fall of Cybertron. Hasbro made toys based on the games. Due to the popularity they made new toys as if there was a third game called siege. And now they made new toys as if there was a fourth game called earthrise. all of this happen due to the popularity of War For Cybertron video games and the toys.
