  • On yesterday's episode, we discussed the never-ending goalie situation with the Colorado Avalanche. After the 7-4 loss to the Dallas Stars Sunday night we can add defensive and penalty kill problems to that list.
    It's odd to do that with the penalty kill at least. It has been excellent as of late. But it looked dreadful against Dallas. Was it just a blip on the radar or have the Avs been figured out?
    The defense on the other had has had it's share of ups and downs all season, and Dallas exploited hole after hole.
    We break it all down! Tune in, subscribe and enjoy!

Avs blue line has skill but they have NO attitude and NO F**K YOU mentality. Kuemper was just find because the Avs had that in '22. A rookie goalie can do just fine when the team in front play defense at the level VGK and COL did in their cup runs.

Gotta give 110% 2) Guys playing for new contracts in Mitts, Walker, Yak, JD & Doo. 3) NK51 still hiding in the bushes. 4) Nuke redemption. 5) Who's your Goalie? Georgie isn't done by a long shot & Juice is the young hotness. They will bring out the best in each other. 6) Depth! 14 starting F, 8 starting D (w Malinski), 2 starting goalies. The 1996 Avs had similar depth & it made guys play hard to avoid being healthy scratched.
    I'm excited to see which of these underdog storylines comes true & who takes it personally & takes it out on Winnipeg to begin! This group is focused on the ultimate goal & can't wait to get the post season started. I stand by my Game 1 prediction of a blowout 7-2 style!

      I've seen a couple comments on this and I don't know where this Adin Hill rookie narrative is coming from. He's been in the league since 2017 and had about 80 games under his belt prior to the Vegas cup team. Plus, Hill didn't start playing in the playoffs until Brossoit got injured in the 2nd round. In that regard it would be similar to when and where I would like to see Justus play in the playoffs. If Gerogiev is failing, then bring him in.

    • @petrpumpkineater
      @petrpumpkineater Před měsícem

      Fourgiev's issues are easily fixable, but he does need the correct mentorship. 1) be better 1v1. He is too passive on these types of chances & needs to pressure the shooter into a bad choice. This will help him get that extra Big Save per game. 2) Mimdset! Take a deep breath: this works! Don't piss off teammates: yell into the air or something but dnot disrespect your guy physically. Affirmations, visualization, manifesting, meditation, letting go. He needs to stay grounded & focused. Bednar will let him ride after 4-5 goals & with the Avs offense they can come back, but he needs to quit breaking down in a snowball rolling downhill. This is wherr a good psychologist or mentor can lift him up. He can do it, but the quesrion is: will he??

  • @chemguy5468
    @chemguy5468 Před měsícem +1

    That's a real interesting theory about trust between the goalies and the d. It's not uncommon for teams to play better in front of their backup but maybe the d just has a better read on where Justus is weak and it's easier to defend that weakness. Georgie seems impossible in that area because it's often the soft ones that he can't handle so how the hell can the d fix that?

He was between the pipes as we closed out 2 series.

  • @jackmannschreck726

    I was at this game, the Avs got handily outplayed in the 1st but after that I really think they were the better team 5 on 5, especially in the 3rd, but those penalties in the second absolutely killed them and they didn’t play much 5-5 because of that. As you mentioned Chris I don’t understand why that was a double minor, there was nobody scraping blood off the ice at all and the high stick didn’t look egregious enough to be a double minor with no blood. and again I will state that there was no blood at all, no people with the big shovel scraping it up like what happened with toews last night
    That being said the penalty kill and defense as a whole, especially defending net front, was atrocious. IMO It’s the worst they’ve looked on the backend all season, they cleaned it up slightly in MN last night but I have some major concerns about the defense and general effort right now. Feels like whoever we’re playing is winning every puck battle along the boards and you absolutely need to win those in the playoffs.

My wife lets things roll off her back more easily than me. We are different people. The FACT is that Georgiev does not have confidence. He gets down and gets angry. Much of this is on him. Admittedly im not sure what we expect from a team who doesn't show up half way through the game. As dallas had what, 16-17 shots by the end of the first to avs 6...they need to start showing up on time or at least earlier than half way through the second.
    And secondly one reason why i don't like being hard on georgiev is because im willing to bet that when he signed they told him he just needs to sit pretty and stop 20-25 shots a night...because the Avs offense were the ones who were supposed to be on the other end of the ice popping 40 shots. By all means georgiev imo is doing what hes supposed to do and thats being quote on quote "good enough" not great not bad just good enough.
    And yet to me it seemed like he was the only one who really showed up on time against dallas and the team infront of him let him out to dry. Not saying it wasn't his fault at all for the loss. some goals he let in i thought he could've stopped liked the first one, if he didnt bite probably would have stopped it imo.
