It's not often you hear whale sharks described as SAFE and MAJESTIC, but Zhang Delu should know....
As General Manager of the world's largest aquarium in Guangdong, China, Zhang comes into close contact with whale sharks every day and knows the secrets of their anatomy to keep him and the visitors safe.
Chimelong Ocean Kingdom in Guangdong Province is yet another record breaker in China. It holds Guinness World Records for largest aquarium, biggest fish tank and largest viewing tunnel. Oh yes and it has some astonishing sea-life.
Behind the scenes are a team of keepers. Beluga Keeper, Zhu Qing has worked there for 5 years but describes the spine-tingling moment when she met the belugas for the first time and the amazing bond they have had ever since. Eldest female Yanna loves playing practical tricks on her and Tabor is the definite leader of the pack.

We had taken a tour of the Beluga Theatre not too long ago, and saw these beautiful animals bond with the trainers so much. It was emotional to watch. The event looked very successful with people cheering. Love China!

Yes and no. The China park has several separate tanks, containing about 12.9 million gallons. But the biggest single tank holds 5.99 million gallons; the Georgia aquarium holds 6.3 million gallons.

Yup, it’s the world’s largest aquarium at the moment. Georgia aquarium is 3rd largest in the world. At the moment, the top 3 largest aquariums in the world (in descending order):
1) Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, China
2) S.E.A. Aquarium, Singapore
3) Georgia Aquarium, USA
