Killer Whales 探索大學堂 (Full Show with English Subtitles) - Chimelong Spaceship - December 16, 2023

- This killer whale show is the only animal show offered at Chimelong Spaceship, an indoor marine park in China that opened in September 2023.
While these orcas are quite new to performing, I felt they collectively knew so many behaviors for a facility that just opened! This was also the only time I saw the volunteer segment, which features a Q&A and a guest photoshoot with Bandhu the orca!

When I heard about this place and the number of orcas it has, I was skeptical at first because of the controversy in America, but after reading your factual replies in the comments, I was blown away on how well these guys really do care for these magnificent creatures! Not to mention, the show is both educational and fun for all ages!

You're welcome! I only saw Sonya! I didn't find out until yesterday but because Katenka gave birth, she and Katniss were out of shows all of December so far and Sonya and Tyson didn't really want to leave the back where they could see them at first!

This tank looks masiv, how would you say it compares to Seaworld or Marinland Antibes?
The show pool is 414 ft. long, 39 to 104 ft. wide, and 36 ft. deep. I don't know the show pool volume but the whole complex is 12,417, 289 gallons, making it the largest aquarium tank in the world.

Jesus these whales are HUGE and some arnt nearly done growing! Absolutely stunning I hate to say it but th less killer whales are more beautiful than seaworlds Icelandic killer whales although I love seaworlds whales or course. They must be so big in person your so lucky is chimelong the nicest aquarium you’ve ever been too? And who is the dad of Katinkas new calf? I wonder when they were all captured 10 years ago If all 10 of them are from the same pod and related? I’d like to see more complex behaviors from these whales
This is the largest exhibit for any sea creature and with the wave machine that the orcas use and the splendid underwater viewing area I would say yes, this is my favorite orca exhibit to see. I don't know anything about Katenka's new calf. They were captured between 2013 and 2017. And stay tuned, these whales are new to performing (just hit 3 months)!

You'll only need a ticket to Chimelong Spaceship for everything in that park, including this show.

@@raptorblack2269 They are two separate parks located next door to each other. Spaceship is indoors and Ocean Kingdom is outdoors.

@hlry15 They are two separate parks so you will need two separate tickets to go to both.
Re: 21:58, LRS potentially because Kaixin didn't lift his tail all the way? Not sure why they would LRS everyone though lol, maybe since it was the finale group behavior.
Oh good observation! I don't know how Chimelong sees it but many facilities believe that by holding everyone accountable even if only one or two are incorrect, they are more likely to coordinate amongst themselves and make sure everyone is on the same page next time.

Most probably yes. And You see some western men. Most probably those are experienced trainers from Sea World, teaching the chinese.
How many whales are there? And do they have an indoor and outdoor showpool? I‘ve seen two different stadiums
It's all indoors. There's 13 total at Chimelong, most of whom live at this stadium, Chimelong Spaceship. At least one lives at the holding/breeding facility they lived at before moving here earlier in 2023.

The blue paint is pretty and pool sides are white so the orca won’t have blue paint on their teeth that’s a plus!!!
It’s bigger but these orca are bigger and they have babies and there will be more unless they separate calves and mothers… 😢

What is this place???
This is Chimelong Spaceship, a marine park in China that opened in September 2023. They captured 9 Russian transient orcas from the Sea of Okhotsk from from 2013 to 2017. 5 calves were born at Chimelong between 2019 and 2023, the oldest of which can be seen in this video.
The park is indoors but has a sunroof for the orca habitat. This is the largest marine zoological habitat in the world at 14 million gallons!
