The iPad Pro M2 is an incredible standalone machine. It has the performance of a MacBook Air (since it's literally the same chip) and yet it also has the flexibility of a touch Tablet. The Apple Pencil just puts the crown on this device.
I love the iPad as my "light work day" device when I head out to a coffee shop and I don't need the performance of my MacBook Pro. I use it when I want the flexibility and creative freedom the Pencil gives me. I use it when I want to read. AND: I use it when I work on my desk - as an external monitor for my MacBook Pro.
It truly is a universal machine and it's found a permanent place in my setup.
I recommend getting the M2 iPad Pro. Personally, I chose the 11" model so that it keeps the small form factor as a secondary machine. I also recommend getting the Magic Keybaord and Pencil from Apple Directly. The system integration is just better than with most 3rd party accessories.

Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
The reason I couldn’t use an iPad for a secondary monitor is bc it’s simply too small (even 12.9” isn’t enough) and most importantly the sidecar connection is not reliable for me and drops easily. Having a wire connection to an OLED 15.6” monitor is so much nicer for me, not to mention it can be connected to other things like gaming handhelds. The innocn 1080p OLED non-touchscreen is perfect for my needs and is wallet friendly bc it’s only $188 for Black Friday on Amazon. Great video though, you made valid points it’s down to personal preference/needs
That's a good argument. The iPad is significantly smaller than 15".
The thing with Sidecar: you can connect it via USB-C to a MacBook and it will work wired.
One used to be able to buy good 4k multitouch travel monitors for less than 200€, but prices skyrocketed in 2020. The touch cabability might sound superfluous for Mac, but on Windows it's become a must for me. With the current prices I just decided to not buy a new laptop and travel screen and just put that money towards a used last generation ipad. I find iPadOS to be very manageable on a single screen anyway. So when I'm on the go my computer simply is the iPad 11" Pro
The monitors you are describing I have not seen for sale. But I know that UPERFECT has a bunch of 4k models in their lineup that are pretty affordable (sub 400€ though not with OLED). But in any case: the iPad is truly a great device. Though I wish it would just turn into a macOS sometimes. The power is there with the M2 chip inside… keyboard and trackpad are there… oh, one can hope for that in the future.
I cannot see the MacBook stand you are using in this video in your links
