  • You work on your laptop all day? Then you should probably think about your posture for health reasons and such. I've been using a laptop stand for almost 10 years at this point and love it. Of course, a bit more stuff to carry around, but it's absolutely worth it. Over the years, I have compared a few different stands and these are the top 3 I would recommend! Plus, the newest one is super light, extremely adjustable and made from carbon fiber! If that's not cool, I don't know what is.

    Great video. I purchased the K2 based on your review. Do you have the coupon code for the carbon fiber K1?

    thanks for this review. One problem that few mentioned is that, if you use a laptop stand like these, and placing your external keyboard in front of it, the distance now to your laptop screen is further away, hence I can no longer use the screen with tiny text.
    out of these 3, which one has the shortest distance (from your external keyboard in front of the stand, to the laptop screen? (assuming it's a 16" macbook)
    Thanks

      I actually think this is not a downside but almost a feature. Screen further away = better for the eyes and easier to look away. When text is too small (especially in the browser, but also in many other programs) you can just do a CMD+Plus and the text gets bigger (or use a resolution where things are bigger).
      I am traveling and currently can not measure any because I don't have a tape with me and only one stand.

    I have a 10" GPD Winmax laptop that JUST isn't big enough for the K2 which I own. Is the K1 the same width or are the supports closer together and might it fit smaller laptops than the K2?
    Cheers

      You can let me know the width of your laptop and I can see if it would fit with the K2 or K1. Please contact me here for this: crsp.li/tgg
      Otherwise, I'd contact the NexStand support on their website. They tend to be very responsive and helpful.

    If you're gonna pay $90+ you might as well buy the Roost V3, it stands taller and feels sturdier and the adjustment mechanism is better and beefier. The attraction of the NexStand was the fact that it was a cheaper version of the Roost (call it knockoff, sure). But given the price of the K1, I'd rather buy the Roost V3. Yes, carbon fiber reduces weight, but it also adds weakness to compression forces and increases the risk of shattering if dropped - so I expect it to be a LOT more fragile than the Roost V3. Is saving around ~ 50 grams worth it? I think not.

      I've been using the NexStand for about 9 months now, and I am delighted with it. Never had any stability issues or concerns. Whenever I see the Roost V3 in Coworking spaces, I think to myself that it looks bulky.

    • @AlTheEngineer
      @AlTheEngineer Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@ChrisSpieglIts really not that bulky, but its certainly sturdier and feels more assuring and substantial. Standing taller is also a plus for us taller folks, besides, the new height adjustment mechanism on the V3 is very nice, you should certainly do a video on it! Don't get me wrong, I'd buy the NexStand too, but maybe at 50% of the price. I personally can't justify the cost just because its carbon fiber.

      Saving 50g is definitely worth it.
      The Roost seems to have more small fiddly parts to it that IMHO make it look more fragile.
      Having said that any idea if it'll fit a 10" laptop, the K2 is too big for mine

      @@AlTheEngineer I think the issue for a lot of us is availability too. I would get the V3 instead of K1 likely, except that it would cost me €130. It just isn't really available outside of the US.

    • @AlTheEngineer
      @AlTheEngineer Před 14 dny

      @@kenzedd sure, I am strictly speaking from a U.S. customer's perspective. I totally understand unavailability elsewhere.
