When people's backs are against the wall the fight back with every ounce of strength they have. This is what the Chinese people did and forced the Government to ease the measures. no they didn't. The fact that they have to give up on lockdowns were an absolute obvious outcome, because you can't lockdown for decades or every winter for the next 100 years. So eventually you will have to open while you have a pandemic. That's what happens everywhere in the world. So we have now a pandemic without masks, and lockdowns, and nobody talks about it in the media. So was it a media virus? And the fact that we have pandemic now proves that lockdowns nor vaccines did not eradicate the virus at all. That means they were useless and whatever consequences they wanted to avoid they have to face them now anyway. So their sacrifices and economic and moral harm was in vain. It was nothing more than an exercise in brutal control and bullying of the population. Basically a way to rip off all the rights, including the right to just be outside.

For three years, Westerners have been performing the role of lab rats for Chinese as the lab workers to observe and decide what to do for themselves? Of course, the west lab rats have been using their bodies testing themselves for the virus happily, having fun, and singing freedom song while the Chinese are spectators.

At worst, for the people who passed away, the Chinese lockdown extended their lives by 3 years. Unless you live in the pits of Hades, how could extending life expectancy be seen as a failure? I know that any drug that can extend a senior's life by 3 years would be regarded as breakthrough therapy. The discriminatory travel policy that some countries put up against China is just racist and anti China/sinophobic. That is not unexpected coming from those countries. And not worth for the Chinese people to be too upset about. The nature of the virus is that it was very lethal in the beginning. So it couldn't be very contagious because otherwise it would kill all its hosts. The virus wants to live in a host, not to kill them, in order to replicate. As time goes on, the virus mutates into new variants that are milder but more contagious. The new variants can outcompete the original more lethal version. As people get quickly infected by the new variants, they obtain certain immunity against the original virus that couldn't spread as quickly as earlier and eventually die out. If the COVID tells us anything, it's that zero-COVID was correct strategy in the beginning, it gives time for the virus to mutate and create more contagious but milder variants. So that people could live with the new variants without too much illness and death.

    • @liz9284
      @liz9284 Před rokem

      That’s actually inaccurate, and doesn’t account for the selection pressure placed on the virus by vaccinating at population level with a vaccine that doesn’t stop the virus. From what I understand, the vaccine used in China is different than the Pfizer vaccine used in the west, but clearly it was also a leaky vaccine (meaning it didn’t stop transmission), so it actually triggers variants and that’s not a good thing. The law of declining virulence is what you’re confusing with variants, I think, and while that law is a law for a reason, vaccine triggered variants could also set us all up for Antibody Dependent Enhancement-making vaccinated ppl MORE susceptible (which is what we’re seeing in the west). I just listened to a Chinese doctor saying that more ppl are dying over there when they’re on their 2nd and 3rd infections, and if she’s right, that’s the opposite of where this virus needs to be going.

    I live in China and I got the COVID 2 weeks after the policy change. That is when I realized the zero policy actually worked for the past 3 years. It is working so well that I couldn't remember last time have caught cold. Ironically, before the policy change I wasn't even a firm believer of the policy. Now the first wave seems calming at the moment. You go to a hospital you don't see it getting stressed. I believe that with the momentum buillt in the first wave things will be back to the normal very soon in the near future.
    Western medias they are feeding shit to their readers about China covid policies. Otherwise they actually have to praise China about looking after its citizens.

      @@ozymandias9234 There were some inconveniences and awkward situations but not as severe as you described. Normally you are allowed to most of the places with a test result of 24, 48 or 72 hours. Restaurants, pubs and malls were on and off some times, depending on the covid situation of the local city. Actually the most inconveniences for me was the kids were not allowed back to their school and they are using the internet classes as opportunaities to play ipad games. But school closure happens in Beijing more than the rest of the cities probably due to the focusing the capital effects. For rare situations when a residence compound was in lock down mode, things could be a bit difficult. That is where BBC CNN and etc. get its news from. But it doesn't happen to most of the people.
      Generally speaking, Thanks! But it was not as severe and harsh as you think it was. Sometimes, I still want to go back to the zero policy for the absloute safety one would feel.

Inside it's 100%. Oh, everyone in my Chinese family in Harbin, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and here in Foshan have had the dreaded COVID. Like you said it was no big deal.

    This is actually the real "First Wave" in the whole of mainland China, so the situation will appear to be somewhat serious. Of course some things could be done better, but in general I think opening up at this time is the least harmful decision, because: 1/ After three years, the virus has indeed weakened a lot. 2/ More seniors are now vaccinated in China. 3/ This happen to be the least active season for China's industry, commerce, agriculture and other aspects.
    Don't get me wrong, for the elderly and those with underlying diseases, the current virus is still very dangerous. Everyone should take precautions and wear a mask.

    you can say the good parts about Chinese handling of the situation without bad mouthing other countries. I’m Australian and I think it’s great China has opened up and eased restrictions. I’ll also acknowledge that BOTH sides have media groups that demonize the other side - it’s obvious in china there is anti western sentiment, and in the west there is anti Chinese sentiment. If you take the anti western sentiment route, you’re no better than the people in the west who are anti Chinese.

    • @軍人風采CN
      @軍人風采CN Před 11 měsíci

      If we have to say that the Chinese are anti-Western, it is very simple. First of all, Western countries are bandits. They started by plundering, colonizing other countries, and massacring the people of other countries. The Chinese people will never forget the history of the Eight-Power Allied Forces' invasion of China. In fact, After entering the 21st century, the Chinese people's anti-Western sentiment is not high. The reason why Chinese people are now anti-Western countries led by the United States is because the Western media and governments are all smearing China, fabricating lies about China, constantly attacking China, and interfering. China's internal affairs are the reason why the Chinese are anti-Western. Most Chinese people are concerned about international politics. The Chinese do not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, but they do not allow other countries to maliciously smear China and interfere in China's internal affairs. This is absolutely not allowed by the Chinese people. In recent years, the West, led by the United States, has continuously suppressed China, curbed China's peaceful rise, challenged the international order, and undermined world free trade and multilateralism. This was entirely instigated by the U.S. government and Western countries. The Chinese people welcome people like Jason. Foreign friends of China report objectively and fairly, but the Chinese people absolutely do not welcome foreigners who maliciously smear, spread rumors, and attack China. There is a saying in China that hearing is false and seeing is believing. We welcome more ordinary Westerners to travel to China. Look at the development of China!
