I live in Hangzhou currently and before in Nanjing for 6 years - been in China 10 years. What I love about China are the social spaces, the public and communal places all are well kept, clean and safe. The landscaping and greenery in particular is a delight - in England, as you know parks nowadays are dreary muddy places covered in dog shit, peopled by homeless drunks and addicts (in my day there were park keepers and gardeners who kept the place clean and tidy. Here in China it appears that great thought goes into the design of these spaces, now, during autumn you can see the maple trees turning red and the planting of flowers seems to appear overnight. Its a delight to just walk down a city avenue enjoying the trees and daily life. The delivery guys are great too - in all and any weather you can order something online and its on your doorstep the next day - and the fast food deliveries are even faster. The living is easy in China. (But just to note over the last week here in Zhejiang virus cases have risen significantly and some restrictions are being put in place - nothing too draconian, but just sensible, as always. - Stay Safe)

Yes, China is becoming the model for future of the world. Don't forget in your heart to thank the hard working workers who made this possible, many of them don't earn much but work hard, so that the other people can afford to enjoy a better life. The government plans well but it's the workers who are the ones made these into reality.

@Mathias I have been in China for 10 years - how long have you been here? Probably never right? In all that time I have not heard one person talk about the "social Score System" . In all the time I have been here, teaching thousands of students, married to a Chinese woman, count Chinese people as my friends, not ONE person has ever mention this system, not ONE person has shared any concerns about it. The only time I ever see it raised is in the rabid anti-Chinese press/media and people like yourself who have probably got to half-baked idea that every time we cross the road against a red light a CCTV Face ID camera is pinging us and somewhere a computer is noting this down and either adding or subtracting from some mysterious social score number. What does happen, is like in any society there are rules and regulations that if they are breached there is a set of state sanctioned punishments. In your society if you drink drive, you get punished, in America jaywalking gets punished, if you park your car in the wrong place you get fined. In Singapore if you import chewing gum you can face a jail sentence and they still cane people for infractions - but I guess thats OK because it's not China, right? What generally happens if you do commit a "misdemeanour" such as say Jaywalking - you do not have to pay a fine, you lose some of your credit, in some cases where a misdemeanour might carry a fine of 100 0r 200 RMB or more the alternative is often between 3 and 15 days in Prison.- This is often a better option for poorly paid rural dwellers plus it carries NO criminal record. But this social credit score becomes the better option for those people who breach the normal rules and regulations - you don't get to pay the fine and you don't get to go to prison for days or weeks. (My UK buddy did 2 weeks in a Chinese jail for a misdemeanour - you don't want to go there. ) So finally if you lose too many points you lose some of your social "rights' like using the train system or booking flights, you can still travel but by bus or coach.. a parallel with the West is you incur too many traffic violations you pay a fine AND lose you license for 2,3 5 years. So why the West gets their knickers in a twist because China is doing something differently is astounding. You need to stop reading right wing biased media, get on a plane and come a check out China yourself. Have a Good Xmas and New Year.

I am afraid to be in any of the big cities in the US because of the topics you covered. The metro here is really great and 这真是个便宜货. In the US it is a sewer with a constant smell of urine because of the homeless. And why are there so many homeless, because of drugs, unaffordable health care, and the lack of a government that cares for its citizens. I do feel I am living in the future where citizens respect each other. My only regret in moving to China is that I didn't do it sooner. Keep up the good work at showing the world what a great job China has done. 加油!

Hey Jason, after a decade living in China, your videos showing the everyday ordinary lives of China, and your humorous way of presentation, earned you not only many fans in China, but also all over the world. I live in Canada, enjoyed your videos very much. Guizhou province owes you big time for making this 2nd poorest province of China known to the world(some people in China don’t even know which province Guiyang belongs).
As for the tastes of food, there is nothing wrong that we all have certain preferences, but to acquire and appreciate new tastes, one must first have an open mind and an adventurous attitude, i. e. give it a try at least. It took me many tries and several years to appreciate the stinky cheese from France, the smelly anchovies from Italy and the very strange taste of the Pilipino shrimp sauce. You don’t know what you are missing if you eat only burgers. The Cantonese are well known for cooking the best tasting beef offals(牛雜)if you happen to visit Guangzhou, you should give it a try.

Yes agreed. I tried to add a description of how it was as teenager with my Dad showing me how the NYCity grand Central station is and the electric power stations. 600 feet below grand Central station waiting room, is a little known place, called 1T, one tee. There's a not many people know about the secret street side entrance to the dark alley behind the big station area front building. And "monster rats" he saw scared him after he thought they were just a cat on his car hood. Until they turned around. Haha.
There are many secret levels of railroad tracks below grand central station too. Years I tried to find people who activity had nerves to search for the dangerous mysteries we know are down there.
There is a US president's secret train tracks area on one of those levels below grand Central station too.
The 1T itself is 600 feet below the surface of the waiting room area. The giant open air facility held 6 to 8?.. very large GE made generators for powering 12,000 volts to the 3rd rail system.
I guess you know about subway stations and various related topics so maybe you know about the same things I learned as a teenager. But they call the power stations sub stations too, even though they are many towns North from the city. I never knew why. They are now computer based and we only have a few pictures of the old systems.
Living nearby the RR tracks is temporary but Tesla EVs opened one of their few stores next to our home/office and its across the tracks but close enough to amaze me watching the truck deliver Tesla's EVs from the Tesla gigafactory to here. Here is 40 miles North of NYCity area.
I make cheap or free home improvements for families and single parents fir years who deserve better.
Thank you for your attention to modernization and developments too. Stay safe always health is wealth. Cheap hunting acres North any where past Albany area and acres are low as 1000$ per acre. 10 for 10, etc. Closer to Canada, a few can be seen in acres listings for even 500 per acre. A low cost portable sawmill easily cuts trees into unlimited building materials.
Our forefathers made many cheap farm houses for them and many people too.

Luo Yang has amazing grottoes also, from centuries, and the old road has a very long market load of foods.
Then Kaifeng near Luo Yang, it has a outdoor show about 800 artists in Qing Ming Park, collosal, laser light, the story about Song's dinasty, Kaifeng is a capital of many Song's Dinasties for hundred years, really love this two cities.

This is interesting, I lived in Georgia for the first 21 years of my life, and I must say, where you live matters. I'd say the pockets of just outside of the city not in suburban areas but just a few minutes past that you'll find peace. In general guns are meant to harm, but the difference is, if you own a gun, you won't harm someone unless they provoke you with a knife, gun, etc. As far as the freedom to choose what you will do is everything to USA. Having the ability to do heinous acts or profound good things is the power of the individual that only freedom can give. Gangsters and criminals in history are the origins of most organizations in America. Thriving company's became what they are because of the criminal acts that were committed some worse than others. At the end of the day, since guns are there, they will not be taken from those people, but the sale of future bought guns is another story. Anger is a gift or death sentence. If the banning of guns were to happen, much death would follow. But the ideas, and education is the more powerful weapons in my opinion.

We need to learn in the good ol' USA that personal freedom needs to be married to order, and the common good, or everything goes to pots.........like it's going right now, sadly. I hope we learn this important lesson before it's too late. Blessings! :-)

China is working towards coexistence with the virus when the population achieves super high vaccination rate across all age groups China does not ignore the fact that babies and children need vaccination. China doesn't assume first generation vaccine will cover the mutation. She is working towards including Delta and Omicron variants.
The other countries declare to coexist with Covid19 because they never can achieve zero local case strategy. Be it their economy can't cope or their people can't cope with lockdown.
It is very nice to enjoy the peace of mind and blessings of living in China , Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan. New Zealand was once able to filter all import cases and cleared the local cases. New Zealand gave up during the Delta variant spread too fast. (Faster than the chasing , the test ...)
Taiwan almost failed but the people was willing to cooperate and the government was willing to pursue extensive lockdown. Now Taiwan is all good again.
Australia and New Zealand do quite well overall.

Good Evening from New Jersey USA Jason. Just started watching your videos and i have to say although I have never had the opportunity to explore abroad, I have always have had an interest in Asian culture, even more so now since I started dating my girlfriend who is from China. She always describes her country with such passion, and describes to me the wonders and how everyday life in China is so much betrer than here in the US. She so dislikes it here, and while I have lived here all my life, I can honestly agree with her about the state of our country, and I can honestly say if I didn't have family here I would consider leaving and finding a place over there. Covid seems to be never ending, and although I follow the CDC precautions and wear 3 masks while at work and out among the masses and although Ihave been fully vaccinated, I have managed to contract Covid which I had for close to 3 weeks. No one here takes things truly serious, if it is an inconvenience, it is not worth doing, what you shouldn't do, everyone does, and regardless of the rules or the mandates that have been put in to effect, everyone fully fights against the changes. Everyone thinks only about themselves and not for those around them, including there own family and friends, so selfish that it is truly pathetic on so many levels. We have so many freedoms that we take for granted, and others that we pay for having. This is our new flu, it will be here for a long time, so long as there are people here that are not willing to use basic common sense. I can say I am envious of what China has accomplished and I am glad that you and your family is doing well and everyone is happy and healthy. One day hopefully soon I will get to experience what you and your family experience each and every day.

    Fantastic video again 👍🙏
Jason, you mentioned NewYorkCity railway is dingy. Sorry for longer than normal description. NYCity train station (Grand Central Station), every day, lights but dimly lit, not sealed, open to both sides dark large tunnels at all tracks lines boarding platforms, even today.
And much more hard to believe mysteries too in below levels tracks. It's 40 miles South of here. You're right. My father worked 18 yrs in NY metro railroad. Different days at different towns along the route, in "electric stations", but down town in NYC Grand Central Sta" its R.R. name is "1T" (one tee) Or ("Pennsylvania station") powered by a secret, 600 feet below, the big waiting room, are 6, 8?.. giant generators, powering the 3rd rail. I saw them myself as a kid bcoz I had to drive the extra car once. I'll never forget the secret side street entrance almost no one knows, and elevator door to go 600ft below. And in that dark alley, sometimes a "monster rat" they called them, biger than cats. Below, "1T", made 12,000 volts and less between the next stations north.
😯😟+ There are more levels of railways than anyone can guess. 4 to 6?.. more?.. levels of railroad tracks are known to hold secrets. Such as large animals, and "unknown" with endless hallways connections and ghost noises, or even phenomena, that brave people refuse to investigate.
The TV news crews reported years ago so much is among the levels of NYCity grand Central railway tracks, even brave veterans avoid unknown dangers and confusing activity. A US president train tracks was made separate below there too, for decades, until more people were able to get in there, take parts or other mysteries. To much to list here but research more about mysteries we're still finding out today. My favored Chinese mysteries include the flying dragon caught on camera more times recently. I'm lucky to survive my "naive" risky teenage years, searching dangerous legends better left alone. Someday I hope we'll know more.
    😉👍🙏🎎❤⛩🍜🥗Xiexie thanks
